Wonderful! I love Al Humphries and his mission to reconnect us with the natural world in practical and manageable ways. The more people who do this, and who then go on to realise how precious and precarious our eco systems are, then the more hope we can have that something can be salvaged for the future. Important work!

The way you redefined adventure is so inspiring! Sometimes, the greatest challenges are not in distant lands, but right in front of us. Your story of standing in a plaza, vulnerable and out of your depth, is a reminder that adventure is often about stepping out of our comfort zone, no matter where we are. Truly inspiring!

Good talk, Al. Thanks! I’ll encourage our Cotswold Wardens to check it out, your book too. We are on the paths to maintain and monitor them, but you help add other dimensions.

Too bad I can't read maps but I suppose that could be a new exploration and learning experience all on its own!

For women, there can be opportunities to learn to read maps (and many other amazing adventures close to home and away) through the Love Her Wild movement.

Absolutely! You definitely don't need to read maps to be curious and explore your neighbourhood.

I totally agree! I have actually been tempted to do some part time delivery work for exactly this reason: to explore new local places and meet new people.

Yeah, and why row across the Atlantic? - instead, become the captain of a cruise ship.

@@dannychild5851 Excellent suggestion. I imagine you get to wear a very natty hat once you're a cruise ship captain.
