Hey Matts, the crazy kayaker here, sorry I didn't see you puked. Lol. I get sea sick all the time. I learned not to drink coffee in the morning before you go out. Take a dramamine (less drowsy) or meclizine HCL 25mg. It helps me a lot. Hope it will help you too. We have to go out together sometimes.
You need to buy motion sickness patches. They work wonders and are so simple to use. I use them every single time I've been on a boat just for protection. Many people at fishing lodges in Alaska use the patches as they're so efficient for sea sickness. I know they sell them over the counter or online like Amazon but the ones I usually get are prescription.
Get some ear plugs, but just use one in which ever ear you want. Works perfect!!! I use to use the dramamine and the patches before. They work well, but one of the guys that was in a charter boat with me gave me an ear plug and he says try it. Man! Simple but effective. Try it and let me know bro. Good luck!! I always enjoy your videos even with vomits and all. LoL!!!
Hilarious! Had me laughing most of the video. It Reminded me of my father, he'd get sea sick and the boat hadn't left docked yet, spent most of the trip lying on the deck, but he did win the pool for catching the biggest fish. Miss that guy.
Man I give you mad props for putting this video up. Showing the world that you get sea sick easily. Hopefully you get used to being out on the water soon. Better luck next time my dude.
A little tip: If you have wheels that you can roll the boat into the water with then there is no reason for you to dip the trailer. It will cut your trailers life by more than half as a result of rust. It will start with a little visible rust, then the backup lights will go and finally, the axle bearings will begin to wear and get hot from the salt water. Just a little advice from personal experience
Back when I lived in So Cali, i used to take my friends out on my boat. One guy keep throwing up all the time from sea sickness. I caught all sorts of wierd things that day that I don't normally catch. I caught couple of Cabezon and an octopus. I was fishing with a lead head jig with a artificial worm using cut squid for bait. I usually dont catch cabs or octopus around the area i was at. I was fishing for halibut and sand bass.
This video had me rolling. Had me cracking up more than the crab catch and cook where you caught that smelt and stuffed half in the crab snare. Still have an image of those eyes bulging out of that snare. Keep em rolling. Waiting for the epic Ling or Hali to bless the Butta Boat.
lookin forward to meeting you Matts, Were kayak fishing at HMB alot. as you know there are fair days and huge lings to be caught. see ya soon, BEST WISHES
My man, you should stay taking a buddy along with you you seem to be much more laid back when you got a friend tagging. You went from 0 to 100 real quick and I believe that a big reason for you often feeling sick out there is extreme anxiety then the motion sickness just takes it to another level. Regardless, thanks for uploading man. As an OG subscriber it doesn't matter what you're doing or if you catch anything. Of course the catch and cooks are the best but we invest into you as a person and feed off your genuinely positive energy so at the end of the day an upload going catchless is better than no upload at all. Thanks for sharing and always keeping it real dog.
Brah, you bust me up man, such a warrior, even knowing you get seasick you still out there doing what you love. Never change bro, never change. Only person I have subscribed too, Team butter.
We all have been their, I thought I never can catch the water sickness but it got me on the kayak last year. Thanks for the RUclips channel in joy watching your adventures.
What a trooper! I'm sure we all appreciate your dedication to put up a vid hoping to be with some fish but it doesn't always happen! Not gonna be a slaying all the time, glad you posted this up though, very informative although the oceans might have gotten to you. Can't wait til the next drop!
Sorry about your sea sickness. I feel for you. I have a 17 ft. sea kayak that I have taken out that very harbor with 17 to 20 ft swells with waves on top of them. I went out about 2 miles and the current was taking me north into the swells. I had fishing gear, but it was really to rough. It was taking all I had to just keep my Yak up right. After about 2 hours I turned around and started paddling back to the harbour. Now the fun part. As I was picking up speed, I was going fast enough to start riding (surfing) those BIG swells. Will I do that again... Not a chance in hell lol. I think the angels was looking out for me that day. Great vids keep um coming.
If you get sick look at the land don't look in the boat it can help. Swell is the worst if you do get sea sick But there are plenty of bands, patches, tablets that can help prevent it you just have to find the best one. You should just get used to the motion over time.
kayakers and boaters have a rough time in heavy surf...and most of us get seasick and puke...in my case puked 3 times in the span of 5 minutes...couldn't get myself to fish the rest of the day...I was wondering whether it was worth it or not for that trip. Decided that any swell larger than 3 feet with any period more frequent than 10 seconds means that there will be some seasickness...which means that more than half of our days off cannot be set aside for kayaking since half the time the swell is just to large and the period too frequent....all about the weather and timing.
Matt's, that was brave of you to challenge yourself with 4' swells 9 sec. apart! That's too much in the Zodiac. Not so bad in a bigger boat, but you gave it your best shot! I highly recommend getting the Transderm Patch for motion sickness, stick it on behind your ear before you go to bed. Good stuff! Same patch I wore when we fished Ish's Rockcod/Lingcod Tournament trip! Good job on the video and especially for keeping it real!
Fisherman's Life Matt's, I've never had any kind of side effects whatsoever. The Transderm patch is specifically made for motion sickness. Dramamine pills makes me sleepy. I will PM you on messenger a picture of what I use. This is the only way I could possibly fish on charters outside the GGB for Bottom fish or Salmon.
I have been plagued by motion sickness all my life. It is not fun. My deepest sympathy. Love the Boat. I was so amazed at how much you were able to put in there. Keep up the good work.
Fisherman's Life Hey man my name is Eli and im really appreciate what you do on your channel, all the hard work, beautiful rivers, mountains and fish, and i should to notice the simple Vids with "butter and avocado" is the most successful and lovely vids for me and a lot of your subscribers... we don"t want to see boats, trailers, fancy gear and etc... we just want to see you and your adventures in the pure wild with maximum simplicity... thank you.
Thanks for the great tips on modifying the trailer. I just ordered a new boat and was figuring out how I was going to support it on the trailer and came across your video. It seems like if you just angled the outer bunks that would be enough to lock the boat in. I'm not sure you need a double "V", but not saying it could hurt either, just extra dollars to install. I think the vertical supports are something like $40 for a set of four, and then you have bunk carpet, wood, etc. it adds up. I'm thinking maybe just one 2 x 8 on each side angled should work well enough, but I love the super strut idea. I wasn't sure how is going to support the front of the boat, and your idea is great. As to the motion sickness, it only happened to me once in Valdez Alaska. As one other person mentioned anxiety can really contribute. Going out on the ocean by yourself can be rather intimidating, especially if it's a new spot. I found that staring at the horizon helped a lot. The less I concentrated on the water the better. I find that ginger really helps my stomach. Of course just avoiding 4 foot swells may be the ticket too. I like lakes and rivers!
I think the set of two boards like you said would work great. The boat should stay rigid enough so it doesn't bend between the bunk boards. Just gotta make sure the boat is nice and inflated
I came across this website yesterday (www.castlecraft.com/large_inflatables_trailer.htm) and it's very similar to how you did your own. May give some others ideals as well. I'm assuming the double layer of super strut was necessary for keel clearance? Otherwise, one layer I would think would be enough, and of course the higher you get that thing off the trailer the further you have to back your trailer into the water to launch. I actually have a 16 foot trailer for my 12 foot boat. It really helps out when the water is shallow, as the back tires of the car don't end up in the river! And yes, even with the 16 foot trailer sometimes I come pretty close to that happening.
HAHA I love that you kept it real and left the barf scene in there. Youre becoming quite the celeb I even see other channels talking about you..good shit.
i get seasick in my boat too but only when i try to make a rig and sort out my hooks etc. when you look around and keep your self busy you will be ok. if you feel sick take a ride with your boat forget about fishing.
If you can get a line secured to the stern of your boat, you can probably pull it off the trailer without having to step in the water. Also, depending on how waterproof your trailer electronics are, I'd suggest backing it into the water further. It will make your launches/retrievals easier.
Matt feeding the fish gotta love it... Matt I'm talkin shit but I feel you bro I do the same thing... I got sea sick just watching this damn video...LOL!!!
Hey Matts nice boat and awesome channel. Keep up the great work. I have a 14ft inflatable setup with downriggers. With the downriggers you can troll with your bait at exact depths. This is the only way to get down deep enough without huge waits and a ton of line out. I couldn't catch salmon until I got the downriggers setup. I have a 1x6 board across the boat tubes just in front of where I sit. The board sits on top of the tubes and is strapped down on each side to a couple of metal loops mounted on the aluminium floor. The board hangs over the edge of the boat just enough to mount 2 manual scotty downriggers on each end. I think if I did it again I'd get the long arm downriggers so I don't have to mount the downriggers so far out. Anyway this is how I finally got success trolling for salmon in Vancouver BC. Good luck out there.
Another awesome video . Got to take my hat of to you for being sick and still trying to make the video for us and trying to catch a fish . Wish I was staying in America to meet you for your give away. Tight lines from South Africa
Spent most of my life enjoying summers in boats and never even thought about getting sea sick. I figured it just wouldn't happen to me. Well...until me and a friend were cat fishing on a very windy night. We were in a 10' boat anchored in the center of about a 20 acre little lake of all things. It was just such a fast short chop that the boat fit right in between and fell in to over and over and over. I looked at my buddy after noticing he'd been silent for quite a while and so was I, I said dude should we leave. He quickly said yes and we both agreed that it was strange because neither of us had ever been sea sick and we both had been boating together since we're were kids. I think I was about 30 then and it hasn't happened again but I always worry that it might.
I used to use sea bands, Scopolamine, and a good night's sleep to keep from getting sick. After a few months of that, I no longer get sick and dont take anything (been several years now). Maybe I'll see you on the water sometime. Salmon season is about to start so I'll be out in HMB the week of the opener.
I used to do the same thing boats when I was your age and good friend from our church was on a charter boat with me and even the Captain was getting sick so she said to eat some saltine crackers and it works great. Get some plain old Premium Saltines from the store an when you get a little funky feeling start eating a bunch. It does work for sure.
Another tip when the fish are being tight-lipped if you have any rubber worms you can put on your bottom hook as a trailer sometimes we'll get them to bite
Matts, I applaud your perseverance dude, trip after trip on a boat and you look miserable lol... but when the fish call, a true fisherman will go. How much Dramamine do you take usually? I was okay with two, but was lowkey trying to keep it in the whole time when I was on a skiff (~4ft swells). All the sweet sweet rockfish meat was worth it though. ooooohh baby. lol
Love the fact you kept it real by leaving in the vomit and not editing it out hahah .. man I really appreciate that level of realness. Great short video! Is there anyway you can give a few of those hats and t-shirts away to your online audience? I know you would incur shipping charges plus additional time but would be very cool to get one of those hats or t-shirts! A big fan - Tom in Kansas City. BTW, I used to live in the Bay area. We would go out all the time to catch Shark and other fish off many of the piers that dot the bay. So windy but great fun! I used to fish the Sacramento river as well but the lead content is so high you were only allowed to eat one fish per year! Not even kidding you. One last thing now that I am thinking about it. I was born in Oceanside and my mom told me that when she was younger she was dive for abalone. Somewhere we have pictures of my mom in a black wet-suit back in the late 60's and early 70's when she was maybe 26, 27 or 28. Thanks again for the videos!
I've always found that if you're feeling seasick while Rock fishing if you can look at the shore focusing on the shore take some of that sea sickness away
Dude amazing job on the trailer. I’m starting to get more into fishing now that I’m older and I wanna get a boat. That boat on that trailer you customized ain’t going nowhere lol that was a awesome setup
You are so funny, you know that you get seasick, you know that there are swells, and you still don't take the medicine. Keep up the great video's! I wish I was in the CA area so I could come to the meet up.
Another great video from you, always lookin forward to new videos. Very cool to see someone big like this on youtube shopping at the same store (outdoor pro shop) in Rhonert Park. You should definitely hit up North Salmon creek beach which is a little bit above bodega bay for some surf perch, it's one of my favorite spots.
Man you like to fish! I spent 100's of hours building a trailer for my inflatable from scratch and I like yours way more. i have every conceivable kind of metal fabrication equipment but you managed to find off the shelf parts that are perfect. And your video is to funny.
haha nice video Matts. too bad about the sea sickness. the only time i get sea sick is if i do not see land or if i am focused on a stationary point in the boat. try looking at the horizon or sucking on a slice of ginger throughout your time on the water. that works on some people anytime you want to kayak fish hit me up i have a hobie that i can lend you.
Nice mods to the trailer for a custom fit for the Zodiac. I did something similar with an EZ Loader trailer to fit my Hobie Pro Angler. Sure makes launching and retrieving a whole lot easier.
Oh, Brother! I know that seasickness feeling. Eat bananas or peanut butter. Tastes the same going in as it does going out! :) I was wondering if you'll be doing a spearfishing video off your boat?
You'll get used to it. Just have to go out more. If it's been a while and there's swell we get sick too. I'll get sick sometimes on a ruff shore dive. Once you puke you feel better. Keep up the good work and slay those cabs!
Bro, I totally feel ya, I’ve been saltwater fishing my whole life and I’ve been seasick 1/2 the time, same as you most of it on my own boat, the absolute best thing I have found is Bonine, it over the counter but the secret is start taking it the day before going fishing and first thing in morning before fishing... this works 95% for me, give a try, you got nothing to lose but your lunch 💯💚🍀🍄🦐🤢🤮
Hey Matt greeting from Malaysia, i love your video man. I always wait for your new upload. Btw, u may try SEA-BAND wristband to prevent seasickness which its work by exerts pressure on accupressure point on your wrist.
Make sure you let us know when the hats go on sale on the site, need to order one and a t shirt, its starting to get to warm to fish in my fishermans life hoodie!
When I get sick I'm like "I'm never doing this again." Then I get back on land and I'm like "that wasn't so bad...kinda looking forward to the next one!"
Nice Job! Just a quick tip. Instead of using microfiber towels, try using either a pool noodle of you can get pipe insulation and slip that over the straps. Won't fly off, keeps everything tidy, and will be more durable. Just a thought.
Anytime! Your videos are the only thing that keep us guys on the East coast sane. Haven't broke the 50's consistently yet in NJ. Awesome job as always!
Why ya put the wheels back on the boat when ya put it in the water? Ya took them off when it was on the trailer an then they are on when in the water. Great vid bubba. Ya show the ups an the downs of your trips. It’s theses kind of vids that keep me coming back.
Bro, you can get a stronger motion sickness medication. Its stronger than Dramamine and should be over the counter. Just ask the pharmacist at a pharmacy and they should point you in the right direction
I had a similar setup. 11' Achilles, 8hp mercury, fish finder, rod holders, etc. I used to just lift the dingy onto the frame of my truck bed with the motor under it. Drop the dingy in the water, tie up, attach motor and done. Much easier and cheaper than a trailer. Then I realized I needed a bigger boat so I sold everything. Lol
I appreciate your willingness to fish despite the motion sickness. Ask your doctor for a prescription for meclizine. It may help when you're on the rough water.
Never had a problem getting sick on the kayak until I got a fish finder and started staring at it 🌊🎣🤢 but hey, keep chumming and keep up the good work awesome videos
You need to get a aluminum flat bottom boat if you get sea sick it's much more smoother and sea worthy I promise you won't be disappointed you can use the motor that you have and you will have a starring wheel unless you want it how your set up is but as much fishing as you do you would love it
Always look to the horizon when you start feeling dizzy. And then keep your eye position back and forth between the horizon and whatever you're doing looking down. Hook tying, landing fish, whatever. Old time experience.
I get sea sick every time I go deep sea fishing & not see land. I've vomited while jiggling many times. The "patch" mostly works. Going to try hypnosis.
keep well hydrated and then anything sweet with ginger in it, ginger ale, ginger biscuits, crystalized ginger etc and then if you do start puking then drink lemonade lots of it, it doesn't stop the puking but at least it tastes ok coming back. Our whole family is pretty good at sea except one nephew who basically is sick the whole time but comes anyway because he loves to fish because of his stoic attitude he is always welcome on my boat he never complains and always wants to stay longer. Only person I have ever seen puke with a smile on his face while playing a big fish and not put the rod down.
I feel your pain matts...i get sea sickness /motion sickness too, as much as i want to go on a boat and fish..i jus cant..😅😅😅 but other thn tht keep up the good wrk man, fish on and tight lines buddy!!!
Please, Tell me more about the pants waders. Sometimes full chest waders are overkill but most pants waders I've seen are the fly fishing variety needed the felt booties. I'd like to find rubber boot pants waders that'll fit over jeans that don't cost an arm n' leg.
James Yeung that’s the key, one before you go to bed and and one in the morning.
i take a coke (not coke zero, or flavored vanilla). A standard coke in rough seas work like magic.
Hey James, Why don't you upload your fishing videos ?
James Yeung thgfp
lmao. the crazy kayaker, now known on fisherman’s life
Got a catch and cook halibut on the boat video filmed. Just gotta edit it. Will try to get it out Friday morning!
You need to buy motion sickness patches. They work wonders and are so simple to use. I use them every single time I've been on a boat just for protection. basketball player 720 thanks for the tip. I'll plan to minimize the amount of dunks the trailer takes
Well , that's one way to chum the water 😂
FirstStateFishing -_- lol yeah that seagull came quick
You guys are both awesome
Watch both your guys videos love both your videos
Lmao

You the man. There'll be lots to binge when you're back!
This boat was a well earned treat im glad u take such good care of it and so much pride it looks awsome i hope it treats u well

Hope that James guy comments lol

I love that you fished through your sickness. That's like me near the gate trying to get fish even though water is getting in my boat.
haha bro I get sick sometimes just watching a boat sway back and forth in the waves lol
help ive never gotten sea sick
My son will be 6 tomorrow and is one of your biggest fans. Just ordered him a shirt for his birthday. Thanks for making awesome videos Matts!
@ Fisherman's life glad you put this video out, can you speak about your current experience with the inflatable boat and how well it holds up. thanks

Seth Louden that’s a fact

He caught sea sickness today
I have been plagued by motion sickness all my life. It is not fun. My deepest sympathy. Love the Boat. I was so amazed at how much you were able to put in there. Keep up the good work.
Awesome videos! I've been binge watching your old videos all morning!

What happened to "Oh well...Fisherman's life", remember your roots bro.
Boats and fishing go together like white on rice. Don't listen to these kooks
Thanks for the great tips on modifying the trailer. I just ordered a new boat and was figuring out how I was going to support it on the trailer and came across your video. Gets sea sick on boat, buys boat
If you can get a line secured to the stern of your boat, you can probably pull it off the trailer without having to step in the water. Also, depending on how waterproof your trailer electronics are, I'd suggest backing it into the water further. It will make your launches/retrievals easier.
Hey fisherman’s life I was wondering if you could link your fish finder mount for your inflatable boat thanks. Love your videos keep it up!
Finally got to try the classic catch and cook with the avocado and metric ton of butter... will be enjoying that again, hopefully soon!
Matt feeding the fish gotta love it... Matt I'm talkin shit but I feel you bro I do the same thing... I got sea sick just watching this damn video...LOL!!!
Hi, nice to see that you really look after your boat and trailer, lovely setup.

That's quite a lot of knowledge for just fishing. Good Work Man!
You looked green as soon as you got out there😂as an avid sea sicker myself. I can tell you felt it immediately lol
collin lol not something I'd like to have in common but what can you do
Scopolamine patches for the win (and no throwing up). Highly recommended.
YOUR THE GREATEST. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND SHOW MORE OF YOUR NEWER BOAT.
All the sweet sweet rockfish meat was worth it though. ooooohh baby. lol
Bay and Beyond Fishing true
I took one Bonine that day. I'm trying to work up to not taking anything
Fishermen's Life!!!! Yay!!!! Nice to see you Matts!
Nice trailer setup! Thanks for the video! I thought I was the only one who gets seasick!
Genius... natural chumming and fishing... I’ll try that next time
Another great video from you, always lookin forward to new videos.
Epic video, man! Don't apologize for no fish - this was actually one of my favorites lol
haha nice video Matts. too bad about the sea sickness. the only time i get sea sick is if i do not see land or if i am focused on a stationary point in the boat. try looking at the horizon or sucking on a slice of ginger throughout your time on the water. that works on some people anytime you want to kayak fish hit me up i have a hobie that i can lend you.
You can do it! Keep on pushing through. You'll develop a tolerance for it!
Awesome video. I have a Sea Eagle 12' 6" and this will work beautiful. TYVM for the vid. Safe boating my friend.
NEVER TOOK PILLS FOR SEA SICK I LOVE THE OCEANS!! LOVE THE VIDS BRO KEEP IT UP!!
You’re truly addicted to fishing like myself. I don’t get seasick often but when I do I keep fishing.
Nice mods to the trailer for a custom fit for the Zodiac. I did something similar with an EZ Loader trailer to fit my Hobie Pro Angler. Sure makes launching and retrieving a whole lot easier.
I totally sympathize, I get seasick all the time. No cure I know of, just purge and leave the tank empty. Hope for the best.
they have pill sea síçkñeßs
Oh, Brother! I know that seasickness feeling. Eat bananas or peanut butter. Tastes the same going in as it does going out! :) I was wondering if you'll be doing a spearfishing video off your boat?
gunznknives lol I'll try to eat those before next time. I'd like to but have no plans for it yet
An apple for breakfast does the same thing lol. nice and sweet on the way out! Not so bad.
You'll get used to it. Just have to go out more. If it's been a while and there's swell we get sick too. I'll get sick sometimes on a ruff shore dive. Once you puke you feel better. Keep up the good work and slay those cabs!
You the man bro Holden it down like a champ....
Seasickness, been there done that and will do again. The stuff we put up with just to feel the tug.
When I get sick I'm like "I'm never doing this again." Then I get back on land and I'm like "that wasn't so bad...kinda looking forward to the next one!"
Lmao, Matt's, I'll be out there Friday in my 12' aluminum. Hope to see you out there. Great vids btw.
buy mini tug biat
Ur an awesome fisherman, Im a beginner and I feel ur vidz gone help me out lot, thanks Matt. Any tips live a comment , Im on the east coast.
Love the vids matt for sure one of my favorite fishing youtubers. Just bought one of your shirts too. Anyways keep up the good work
Edwin Sanchez thanks bro!
Nice Job! Just a quick tip. Instead of using microfiber towels, try using either a pool noodle of you can get pipe insulation and slip that over the straps. Won't fly off, keeps everything tidy, and will be more durable. Just a thought.
Great idea! I was thinking of sewing together the towels on to the straps in their positions but your idea is genius! Thanks!!
Anytime! Your videos are the only thing that keep us guys on the East coast sane. Haven't broke the 50's consistently yet in NJ. Awesome job as always!
That's a bad ass boat set up keep up the great work
you might think about getting a little skiff , you can have two boats and one motor . that is a sweet honda would push some aluminum around well
Why ya put the wheels back on the boat when ya put it in the water? Ya took them off when it was on the trailer an then they are on when in the water. Great vid bubba. Ya show the ups an the downs of your trips. It’s theses kind of vids that keep me coming back.
Bro, you can get a stronger motion sickness medication. Its stronger than Dramamine and should be over the counter. Just ask the pharmacist at a pharmacy and they should point you in the right direction
thanks for telling him that,i hate to see people suffer with that now days, theirs better meds.
Lol
chief has biger boat
@@sharonbraselton4302 it's not a boat 🤦
I appreciate your willingness to fish despite the motion sickness. Ask your doctor for a prescription for meclizine. It may help when you're on the rough water.
you just gotta rock with it you know it will be better if you keep going like that
Never had a problem getting sick on the kayak until I got a fish finder and started staring at it 🌊🎣🤢 but hey, keep chumming and keep up the good work awesome videos
Man I feel for you I hate sea sickness I take sea sickness medicine every time I go out is sucks getting sick.
I believe I saw a video of him taking that inflatable miles out to sea going for salmon... like over 5 miles out and then a shark comes along. Nuts
Chumming the waters! Dude, I’ve been there and done that while diving and fishing 😅 Still, any day on the boat is better than a day working!
Something new to see, throwing up.... good job....
Great video Matts! Need to go fishing down there and hit up those big swells and rock the boat!
keep well hydrated and then anything sweet with ginger in it, ginger ale, ginger biscuits, crystalized ginger etc and then if you do start puking then drink lemonade lots of it, it doesn't stop the puking but at least it tastes ok coming back.
