The older you get the more you realize family is everything. And being close to them ultimately make you happy.
True! I’m 26 and lived across the country from my family for 6 years until last year. I was super bitter about moving back “home,” but now I’ve never been happier. I had my adventure and I think I’m going to settle and stay here close to family and friends. I had a few friends go through the same and now we’re all back home and it’s great having such a big support system

I agree with you. It's not so much where we live but who's in our lives that we cherish the most.
You’ll have your own home that you’ll own in Utah plus be near your brother and sister in law and friends there. You can still rent a place in Hawaii for several months in the year. You’ll figure it out. Get your surgery, get settled in your new house then decide what you want to do or when you want to go back to Hawaii.

As a former military wife, I understand how hard it is to leave someplace that has become home. I felt the exact same way when I had to leave Puerto Rico for Germany. I cried for weeks, missing the island and the people but Germany soo became home and came to love the country and the people. It also gave me a chance to travel Europe and see places and experience history up close and personal. Leaving your little piece of paradise is going to be change, but you will closer to your fam and Jack and Sunny will get more time with grandmas and grandpa's, which is always a great thing. It's not like you are moving to Antarctica. You will be moving to someplace that was home once before. Besides, there are plenty of flights back and forth. You get an itch to surf, hop a plane and you are on your way!! The one thing that I don't envy is having to move with 2 little ones. Having done that myself, make sure you are stocked up on patience because you are gonna need it. If I can make a suggestion, take the kids to Utah and have g-ma/g-pa take care of them so that you can get everything done and moved. It will be much less stressful that way, trust me on this.
Hey there fellow Army spouse. I was a Army wife for 20 years and spent a total of 7 years in Germany. I never thought I would miss military life. But, sometimes, I really want to go back.
Moving is tough, especially a big move. We moved late last year from Florida to Montana. They couldn’t be any more different. Relocating to a place doesn’t have to be forever though. Best wishes!

You guys are so fortunate you got to live in Hawaii at such a young age with your family and friends. The kids will always be beach babies. As you get older you see how much more family is so important and helpful. You have so many amazing experiences.. Australia is going to be amazing and your reunion with your brother will be great ❤
It’s good you guys are moving sooner. Have been in my thoughts because of updates on grocery stores in Hawaii closing down due to food shortages. Being close to family in a safer, more rural area will be great!

Faith, time, friends & family. These will see you through. It broke my heart to leave Japan, and it still aches on a daily basis. Had I known then that I would come to England and have amazing twins (now 18), it would definitely have tempered my heartbreak. Please know that Hawaii is not behind you, it is in front of you, because that is what you both want and need. Loads of love and hugs from a family that gets it. Deeply. 💕

@@lynnejones6258 how is it an awful comment? It's just an observation her hair is lightening up, doesn't mean it will go complete blond it's just lighter then when she was born...... I was born with black hair and it lightened to a dark blond, my baby brother was born with almost platinum blond hair and it darkened to a dark brown almost black.
@like021 .... as I said I don't think the children should be used in this way... no good has ever come out of children who have no choice being put into the public eye... almost every comment is regarding the children... which I think is wrong...
But then I'm British and maybe worry more about potential nutters looking at my children who I never even posted pics of on Facebook .....

@@lynnejones6258I am in full agreement with you and am in the US. As much as I enjoy watching these beautiful children. It is a major risk having them become so recognizable on the internet. Currently another family channel began dealing with a pedophile stalker. They pulled their children out of school and relocated across the country. The stalking has increased. Tragically their primary income is from social media and they are in terrible situation. Three children are in their teens with the others about to be. The children need private security, which it appears the family cannot provide. The channel itself is at a standstill. Very frightening situation. Unlike actual celebrities, with several million dollar incomes.
In reality it is considered child exploitation to depend on your children as your primary content and source of income. I do hope that this family is able to make changes, before it is too late. Once in the internet, nothing can actually be deleted.
New to your channel… Been watching only a couple of months, BUT the minute Deriks brother and family left, I knew you wouldn’t be far behind, and I am probably not the only one , both channels show just the bond and connection between all four of you .. whilst your connection to your friends is like family , your connection to your family is so much more then most of us will ever experience, this may not truly be your choice , but you are following the pull of where you are meant to be …go where you are meant to be and Enjoy Oz 😊

Ah, your gorgeous family. I'm 59 & love it! I wouldn't trade this time in for my youth for anything because wisdom really has come with age. I look back & everything was such a big deal, so dramatic. Life is so much more relaxed now. The timing of your move is most likely perfect, you just don't know it yet. This will (most likely) all make sense to you at some point. When life throws a surprise at me now I think 'this is cool. I didn't see this coming'. Life would be quite dull if we knew ahead of time how it all played out. The unexpected makes us pay attention but how it turns out is down to us & what we make of it (you most likely didn't see Hawaii coming and look how that turned out). What a cool journey you're on. Try not to be sad for what you're leaving but grateful that you were there & look forward to what's ahead because that's where you're going.

It's my first time ever posting a comment on a youtube video haha. I feel your sadness about moving. 4 yrs ago I left the town where I grew up and I was soooo sad about it... because I was only 18 yrs old and thought I wouldn't see my friends as much as I did during the past years. But in the same time I was super happy, bc I would live 5minutes away from my grandma and go visit her anytime. 4 yrs later I'm so happy to live here and I see my friends more than before 😅, but I realise living close to my grandma is more important now.

One door closes and another opens! I know that’s not much but in one of our darkest times in our marriage, we thought the end of our world was coming. Another door opened and it was 100 times better! 😊. I know with your family support in Utah, things will be so much better for your family! Hang in there. I really didn’t think Sara would be the one to be so sad to leave! Lol. ❤❤

As someone living in Canada I cannot believe you’re leaving Hawaii which seems like paradise, but Utah also seems extremely nice, and I’m sure it will make every visit back to Hawaii more sweet!
Ps: we made a similar decision (moving away from a place we loved with amazing friends to be close to family and afford a house) and it’s been so much better than we imagined. The move was the hardest part, but worth it in the end.

Honestly, I would move to any place I had to if I could be closer to my mom and dad… I lost mom in 2019 and then dad in 2020. Your kids will thank you later in life for giving them the time to make those memories with there grandparents and other family members. I miss them every day and I look back at the time I was away and wish I would have come back sooner.
Gosh I can't get over how beautiful Sunny is! I know we all expected her to be blonde, but it looks bronze. Very pretty and she looks exactly like Jack! They are both so sweet. I'm so sorry you guys are going through a hard time leaving Hawaii (especially since it's been home for 7 years!), but on the bright side, you can always go back to Hawaii! It's not forever, just try and remember it that way. At least in Utah you can be closer to your family and they will get more time with Jack and Sunny too and you'll be reunited with Tanner and Lo again! Have a great time in Australia!

@@Emily42473 Because their looks aren’t all about their hair color. Their faces look exactly alike. They have the same big eyes, same sweet smile, same button nose, same little cheeks, etc… They look just alike, minus the hair color. But even their hair is alike, minus the color. It’s very fine, but lots of it. Looks so soft when they play with it, or when it’s blowing in the wind and their bed heads look alike too. The two of them are so similar, minus the hair color. And obviously, both of them are soo precious, cute as can be, so sweet, and both of them have the most adorable little personalities. ❤❤❤❤❤
I hope you have safe travels and so many AMAZING experiences along the way!! My family and I just moved from California-right on the beach just like you- to Vermont so I know what you’re going through and you have all my prayers and sympathy for the crazy mix of emotions you’re experiencing and the uncertainty about this decision!! It’s completely natural that you will miss Hawaii because you’ve had 2 incredible kids and your entire married life there and made so many awesome memories along the way! It will take some time but Utah will start to feel like home- especially once you actually get to move in to your house! I’m sure that you will build a new community of friends who will grow to feel like family and you’ll be close to family! Lastly, cheesy as it sounds, “home” really is where your loved ones are so, as long as you have each other, you will always be home. Wishing you the very best of luck with packing and with your travels! Have an amazing time in Australia- can’t wait to see what you guys get up to!!
PS- you might already know this but snowboarding is quite similar to surfing (but obviously without the risk of sharks or drowning😉) and Utah has some of the best snowboarding spots in the world! You may not be able to go to the beach in Utah, but it has other amazing outdoor activities to offer!!
I feel for you. Moving is definitely difficult. You will be happy to be around family in the long run and I know you will be back with old friend and meet new. You know all of this but hang in there. You are such a beautiful family. ❤️. If you get tired of Utah, come back to Arizona/Gilbert! Have fun in Australia.

I know you're both sad, but life comes in seasons and this will just be a new season for you. Moving from somewhere that you love is hard, no matter where that is. There's going to be a grieving process for you. Do embrace your new home and life. You'll visit Hawaii again and California isn't so far away and has awesome surfing. A beach is a beach and lake beaches are awesome too. You guys are so fun and your kids are adorable. I grew up in California by the beach but last year we were called to move to Utah. We left most of our family to come here. At least you are moving back to family. With things getting as crazy as they are that’s a good thing. Now just hoping our family will join us up here.
From Hawaii to Utah. Follow your hearts of course. I understand why you’d want to do that but a part of me is screaming WHY? Lol! Nothing but love and good wishes for you all and I’m sure you’ll acclimate and love everything in your new home. Home is where the love and heart is and that can be anywhere. I live in Australia and you will really enjoy the Gold Coast, there is so much to do there. There’s Dreamworld, Movie World, Sea World etc. Sunny is absolutely beautiful and her hair seems to be changing and Jack is such a character. Hope everything goes well with your move to Utah❤
We live at the bottom end of Australia in Melbourne. You will love the Gold Coast and its fall there, still warm & sunny
I had to make a similar decision a few years ago. I found it helpful to list the pros and cons of leaving v’s staying. It did help to see it all written down.
I realized then that the pros for leaving were way more important than the ones for staying (even tho there were more).
It was hard in the first few months as I missed my friends and the small town life. It soon became apparent tho that I’d made the right decision.
Even after 30 odd years I still miss living in the small village at times but I know my family and I wouldn’t have had the same job, house and study opportunities plus family close by if I had stayed.

I know it can be sad but life is filled of wonderful changes and Utah is beautiful too. You will be fine. Lived in northern Illinois in a beautiful gated community with a lake and 2 beaches, an in ground pool and a sail boat. I loved it. Four kids under the age of 6, home educating, awesome ladies Bible study. But my husband is a truck driver and he got sick of the cold and the snow. He brought a used 140 sq. ft. camper and an old semi trailer home one day and told me to start packing. He transferred with his company and we were going to north Florida. Everything didn’t fit in it so we gave a lot away and we lived in a campground while we looked for a piece of land to build on. I was not handling it well being cramped up in that camper. We found 5 acres of woods and put the camper and trailer on it. Eventually we got a well, electricity and a septic tank. First we built a 1600 sq. ft. metal building, by ourselves, and saved for the house. A few years later we built our mansion in the woods 75% all on our own. It took 5 years. I love my home and so does everyone else that’s seen it. But I still miss up north and go about 4 times a year. I love y’all. Blessings from the Northwoods of Florida.
When things are meant to happen they will happen! You just need to go with the flo. When we moved to Florida we loved it! We tried to get the family to move here with us. My father past away and 5 yrs later my mom’s health deteriorated and I couldn’t get the rest of the family help her out and since I couldn’t get her to move here we moved back to NM and 15 yrs later the rest of the puzzle fell in place!
When the puzzle pieces in your life fall back into place you will move back to Hawaii ❤

Newbie here. If ya dont mind...Just wanted to throw a couple things your way.
1. My 1st used to twirl my hair to take a nap. I found this doll called...My Buddy. He was my life saver. He has hair so he took my place!! 🤦♀️ I had to still lay with him for a few minutes but it was so much easier. He kinda looks like Jack too.
2. Having moved more times than I care to talk about...
It never get easier. It always sucks. It always leaves a whole in your heart. But...
The new memories you will make and the new experiences is what life is about. Get your cry in. Stop and smell the flowers and then getting ready for more beautiful things to come.

I lost both my parents within 2 years and lived in another state when my father passed away, i wish to the Lord they got to spend more time with our daughter. My Mom lived also far away when she passed. So I do understand being close to family is so important especially for the kids. Do you have to leave the island can’t you just keep the house and rent it out and then you can keep the home there so you can at least visit? I was born In Honolulu Hawaii and I wish my family never moved us away. We are all in ca now so we can be close to family. Stay close to family it’s important ❤ keep the house lol you will regret not at least keeping the house

We moved away from fam from CA to NC, I got diagnosed with stage 2 Colorectal Cancer here last June a month before my 39th birthday. It's me my husband and 12 yo boy, we have no family here. It has been hard going through all treatments without them, on all of us but we did it. I just had my surgery and got my pathology report with no cancer detected. God is always with us! This made us realize how important it is to have family close by so you can have them around to enjoy the day to day moments! We're moving back and we're so excited and have such a deeper understanding of what we want for ourselves, time with our tribe!!!

I’ve been in your shoes when I was your age. Originally from michigan… my parents moved us to Los Angeles when I was 16…. My parents moved back and left my younger sister and I in California. When my son was 3 I made the hard decision to move back to michigan cause I didn’t have the support I needed with my son. My sister stayed and raised her family there meanwhile I got the support I needed from my parents and extended family. The thing is you can travel back and forth to visit Hawaii. Which is what I’ve done between Mi and Cali. I was able to give my son a better life in Mi. My son is the same age as you guys and met whom as I’m seeing as his forever love here in Mi.. Comme être avec son âme sœur... Cette sensation peut mettre des années à être ressentie... Voir à la moitié de la vie. Les bébés sont là priorité... Ils ont tellement besoin de vous... Ils sont en complète dépendance, mais vous les rendez pleinement heureux... Ça se voit... C'est très chouette de nous faire partager des "tranches" de vie de votre délicieuse famille... Its hard to leave but life is changing and we must all make choices and even if we stay there Will still be changes others leave new arrive. Its life and we must choose what is best at a certain time. But leaving doesnt mean goodbye its easier to travel than ever and its mostly a matter of keeping in touch with those we want to keep in our life and there are so many ways to do that these days. ❤

I've moved house many times when my children were young like adorable Jack & Sunny, it's not easy, so I feel for Sarah having to pack when she's feeling unwell 🤒😢.
