I love listening to you explain these things, it's always so informative and matter of fact. But the more I learn about the Mormon Church, the more it remind some of what I've learned about Scientology - the eerily similar ways of keeping their members invested and engaged, the thought-control and constant reaffirmation of the importance of the church/temple/the building of the holy organisation.... Which, I imagine, is a running theme once one starts to explore the realm of cults and religions🤔
Megan, my first impression of you was that you were smart and mild mannered. I never thought how much I would LOL at your dry wit. My dad, brother, mom, and grandmother all have that, too! ❤it. I’m so over the top sarcastic that people think I’m serious sometimes!
The only temple I ever saw was in Tokyo, back in the late ‘90s. There was no signage, not even in Japanese, but looking up I was surprised to see a statue instead of a cross. Years later, when deep diving the LDS church, I discovered what that building was and a chill ran through me.

I was forced to formally repent of drinking a Barq’s root beer in the late 80s. Like I wasn’t allowed to take sacrament for a week. And pray on my freaking knees in front of a gross old man. And I wish that was the worst thing he asked me.
Seems like a perfect set up to produce an alcoholic, drug addiction or eating disorder. I say this bc if I were brought up this way and just by chance I was a teen sneaking a sip of wine at a friend's, I might be OVER Joyous in the feeling of freedom. Possibly Im injured and needed narcotics from surgery for a limited time, THAT I might realize was freedom ir Id sneak eat massive quantities...
Good evening Megan, as always I find your message regarding your past Mormon experiences interesting. It has always been my observation after having thoroughly studied the history of the church that “the church” was fabricated upon a lie. So with this premise at the forefront of anything being discussed regarding Mormonism we must end the conversation because you cannot proceed beyond the “lie.” The “lie” therefore becomes the barrier between fact and fiction and in my world of reason the facts will always trump fiction. Take care of yourself and remember “the truth” will always prevail. A friend

Years later, when deep diving the LDS church, I discovered what that building was and a chill ran through me, not in a good way!
Only one time I was in Temple Square, SLC, Utah as a tourist in 1985 on a family vacation to RV from Washington state to Bisbee, Arizona (family homestead, for family reunion). I remember noticing the strange symbolism on the outside of the temple, and yes, I noticed the angel. It was not a spire or a cross, but an angel with a trumpet. The symbolism I know as an adult, is Free Masonic in origin. Not Christianity. So I would argue with an LDS member that their church is “Christian”. Just because one says, it’s the Church of Jesus Christ, doesn’t mean it actually is. It’s separate because the practices and beliefs of the leaders were viewed as outside Christianity even in the 1830s and 1840s during Joseph Smith’s lifetime. This is why the other Christians wanted them out of their communities and their states or territories, add to that the warrior nature of the “Prophet” and his calling of LDS men to take on the governments and leaders in those areas. They wanted to take over, rather than live peacefully and simply practice their polygamy, polyamory, etc. The Mormons were called this by their neighbors because they earned their neighbors’ suspicion and hate.
Also, with regard to why they might have grilled Megan on the Law of Chastity, they really do believe that they have special powers of discernment and often imagine the workings of these abilities. They feel promptings from “the spirit” that really reflect nothing but their own fantasy life.
It's not that NON Mormons don't believe that families are forever...Its more that believing in "Forever" is something we personally ponder and many may hope, but it's certainly not part of our daily thoughts or part of our on going religious practices. We all have prayers for people who have passsed, some cultures have celebrations. But we don't deoend on this. We kind of pray in hope that those past will be kept in Gods mind eye. What Im saying is, it's more if a comfort than a FACT and we out THAT in Gods hands, going on with iur daily lives if Jumping rope, going to school, being an Accountant, A Gardner, A Dr, a Lawyer... DOES THAT MAKE SENSE?

@@tracienielson7183there are to be no prophets after Jesus. That’s her point. Maybe a bishop, or a priest or king, but there are no more prophets after Yeshua (Jesus). This is why Islam is also not truthfully the Word, as there is no evidence for Muhammad from his lifetime. Probably he may have existed but it’s long after. He did not write the Koran or the other holy books of Islam. His followers did though.

Very informative 👍and enjoy the backdrop 🐾thanks Megan
🌸Thanks so much for the clarification. It’s very helpful. 🌸
Those bishop’s interview questions are altogether inappropriate.
"Are you wearing your underwear properly?" is a wild question to have to answer to get into church.
It’s really quite creepy too. Ugh. 😑
I’m so glad my church doesn’t require a literal card to enter a cathedral.
