I was wondering why Canadian and American use the air purifier. I think outside air is very clean so you may vantilate whenever you want. It may be different story in developing countries though.
One of the reasons is because houses are often climate controlled. Exhausting or venting the home then becomes expensive because the air needs to be heated or cools again after. In some areas where it’s very cold, hot, or humid for instance, it’s nicer to maintain that balanced climate indoors. Another side of this is that there is an increasing amount of environmental factors like pollen and smoke from wildfires these days as the climate changes. Regardless it is a luxury no doubt, not a necessity
A quality Air purifier is a must for living in Utah, especially if you have any type of airway condition or disease . The Wasatch front from Draper to Brigham is notorious for having the worst quality of air in the nation. Especially in the winter time when the cold air sinks, pushing everything down and the hot air sits above it like a lid. We live in a bowl, that everything gets trapped in. Big Mountains to the East Side, Medium Mountains to the West that forms a funnel. Inversions “Red air days” are very common. A “red air Day” is when it comes across the news and they advise you not to leave your house. Not to exercise. Try not to drive your car. Wood, coal, pellet burning stoves are not allowed to be used unless it is your only form of heat. There are days we cannot see the mountains that are less than 5miles away because the inversions are so bad. When the West Coast or Canada has a bad fire season all that toxic smoke will also get trapped. Then, with the drought that has been going on the great Salt Lake has been drying up. The bed of the great Salt Lake is known for all sorts of toxic, hard minerals, such as arsenic that is now being put into the jetstream. Thank goodness we did have two good winters that may help for a year or two.. The inversions are worse in Draper because that is where the “funnel” is the narrowest. Brigham City is the widest area of the funnel, thus the inversions are not as bad. The Wasatch Mountains are positioned to block the air flow. Storms come in from the West and pollution gets trapped. Unlike Denver whose Mountains are on the West side. This allows storms to push the pollution to the East….. flat land. So no it’s not only 3rd world countries… it is right here in the USA that we have very poor air quality.
The fact that this company doesn’t directly ship to canada is unacceptable. $179 American for it to be over $350 Canadian, the exchange rate would make it $240 Canadian.
There are other companies that do ship air purifiers to Canada. Or, you can buy one from a local store. Apparently this company is not going to eat the additional costs of packaging, shipping, duties, and the risk of customs stopping, opening up and inspecting their products. They are going to pass it on to the person who buys their product.

That's strange!
