Chronic Illness: Nutrition and Naturopathic Missteps!

  • I've shared a bit about the tension I've felt between my physicians and my registered dietician on my chronic illness journey -- this video is about the struggles I've had lately and why I've decided to stop seeing this practitioner. Even though I know her heart is in a good place, it feels like we keep searching for something that is not there, or is probably not there, or, if it is there, isn't impacting my quality of life at the moment.
I never thought I, of all people, would get sucked into alternative ways of thinking, but as I started to work with my hepatologist I noticed that what my nutritionist recommended was the exact opposite of my doctor, who has decades of experience with this one organ.
What broke me out of this was an episode of Dr. Danielle Belardo's podcast, Wellness: Fact vs. Fiction, about gastroenterology. Her mission is to debunk junk medical advice (thanks, Internet), but what made me listen up was her assertion that you, as a patient, are not to blame for looking for relief from your illness, but rather it is practitioners who are not promoting solid, evidence-based practices that are responsible.
If you are interested in more specifics (eg; supplements or tests that turned out to be very unhelpful and a massive waste of $$) let me know and I'm happy to share more.

Hi Sarah... Hope you are doing good😇. I second you on your opinion and I feel you are on the right track. I tried holistic approach and alternate healings for almost two years but they were not very fruitful in my case. Going to the allopathic doctor and hepatologist made quite a drastic overall improvement from my liver feeling better to improved mental health and anxieties. I have been diagnosed with AIH lately too. Hoping to get better and back on track. Lots of love and care on your journey dear💕 ❤🌷

I just don’t have sugar! Period. It’s hard, since sugar is in everything I’m a serious label reader. My fish is wild, my beef is grass feed, butter also. I avoid all seed oils! My eggs are pasteurized so are my chickensWhen I go to my local butcher I always ask what did they feed the animals. I got rid of my dr.!!! Prescribed drugs for issues I never had! The most upsetting was one was a statin 🤬🤬🤬.one was blocking my stomach acid?.. Now I have a new Dr I see a n the 29th of August/22. All my former dr did, was make me sicker! I can’t stress enough to research everything!
