I spend so much less since I started full time RVing. I stay at a full time park that during October through April is 350 and the rest of the year is 400. I bought my 2019 Grand design 32bhs. Once you fill it that is it. I have saved so much money on everything. Less clothes, less stuff, less groceries. I buy what I need but never go without and have had very few issues. I'm right across from the ocean beach shores and I've decided to stay. I love it. I do have a few repairs but I usually do them myself. I'll be redoing it this year. Too dark of interior and the bench seats and couch gotta go. I'm so excited to check out your other videos.

Where do you stay ??? I have my own land in the west Virginia mountains and I have a 25 foot travel trailer and I'm wanting to stay in Florida for winters .

Anyone who "lives" full time in an rv is seriously compromising their health and life expectancy. Maybe not noticiceable short term but many of the toxins in rv structures and components have a negative cumulative effect. Look at the studies that have been done on adults and children who lived in FEMA trailers. FEMA now Caps out at 18 months.

I think $2.5k is very doable for a couple near 60 with no kids. I think the older people get, the more they understand how to save money.

Camping in places like Jelly Stone big Money Pitt!
I have full timed RVed for less then $2,000. a month. Camp in State or National parks. BLM land free camping up to 14 days. We ride Harley and chase the sun and warm weather. There is many GIGS to work camp in National and state park and camp free for a season. Camped in beautiful places, ment wonderful peaople and have a great time exploring our United States of America. Stayed over night free in many rest areas and truck stops while traveling from on destination to another. Groceries are the same however I find I buy less and use up more left overs in the RV. We're retired and traveling Route 66. Looking for Motercyle rallies along the way! 1st time at Sturgis this year!

With rents increasing by $400 per month im looking at rv living full time. Two local parks range from $500-600 per month. Its just me and two dogs currently living in a 600 sq ft apartment. Both are within 10 minutes of work. Considering a 20-23' trailer. Id need to rent a truck or recruit a friend to park the rv as my suv doesnt recommend towing. Not sure what expenses would entail. Current 'food' is around $209 with cell/internet at $140.

I should hope so! I left my $550 apartment to save money on motorhome living. I got mine on a great deal for $6500 though and it's small but nice and clean.

hey folks, please keep in mind that the people making this video were used to a lifestyle at that dollar range. I've raised 3 kids on $800 minimum wage full-timea month by myself with just food assistance not EBT but local co-op growand no other help. It's possible if you live frugally to do the RV life for under $1,000 a month
Right now my rent is quite pricy... i could most likely reduce it by a third, or even by half but here at least i have certain benifits that i wouldnt have (laundry, gym, washer/dryer in suite) in a cheaper place. In all honestly, I think I'm going to get an RV/van and live in it for a year and see if I like it because I'd much rather do that and even if it costs almost the same, ill feel a lot more free.

I am the same way, I'm against propane! Sorry Hank Hill lol. im thinking getting a toaster oven, was life when I was a teenager. I also live in a really sunny state so I want to do solar. and all my sons toys are stored under his bed rn. but I could see that being problematic if storage is limited. im working on cleaning out my storage rn! we already live in a 1bd with a den, the den has no closet. So im trying to pair down rn.

Jellystone! We are meeting our family and Grands at a Jellystone in July...139.00/night...uh, yeah...pull thru but elect/water/sewer, that is it...yeah, this is a once a year for a couple nights for us!

I would recommend checking into different ways to do healthcare. I believe more things have popped up in the last 2 years
Im an over the road truck driver. I have a decent rv and would love to find a safe place to live in it when im not doing o er the road trucker stuff

You can cook on the road and save a lot of money
here in canada parks are at least 50 a night that is way more than living in a house
Yes you absolutely can I live on no money and I'm still making it in my RV but I admitt I do have food stamps and I go to gods kitchen and I use food pantries and collect cans and I make enough to live bare minimum
Stationary RV living is way cheaper most campgrounds are less then 3000 dollars a year that's water and electricity hookups you will get a electric bill but it's low if your traveling it's more expensive than a house easy
I would do this for a few months a year - but would never sell my house to do so. Seems too risky when over 40.
why do people think 40 is old? most people don't have life figured out by then. I'm 51 and sold my house in 2018 and currently live in my sweet springdale 189 and it's been great. No more property taxes, house repairs and all that goes into owning a home. Not that owning a home is bad, but for now it's working for me and no more yardwork, major plumbing issues and the list goes on. Of course there is maintenance with an rv, but if you get in good shape, the maintenance is minimal and I can relocate as often as I want.
so 1500 plus a thousand for payments on truck and trailer at least 50 a day in food looks like 4000 before gas ins etc
I assume things like detergent are in the food budget ("everything that comes down the belt at Walmart"). Where in your budget is clothing? Especially with little ones, who grow out of clothes every 3 months. You clothes look to nice to be thrift shop.
I buy almost all clothes at thrift stores..if you take your time you find nice things. Most times my purchases are brand new items with the tags still attacked. Ex..last week I purchased a brand new pair lucky jeans for 8.00

Taking in all this information is a great idea. Have an emergency fund, find a community, and take it slow and don’t burn out. We all start out like a “vacation” and remember it is a lifestyle not vacation. Hope that is helpful!

How many miles did you travel in 1 year on the $3k lifestyle? I'm curious how often you travel to new places (how long do you stay in one place). My mind is on how much fuel is being used.
That would depend on gas prices and your gas mileage which can vary from RV to RV.

But in this video you were kindly using yourselves as an example and gave your fuel costs, but I guess for me it's hard to really put that into perspective since we don't really know how often you're actually on the road. Like, are you at a new place weekly? monthly? quarterly? etc. As a newbie trying to plan and see if I can afford this lifestyle it always helps to hear numbers on how others manage it! Especially in the $3k range. We newbies hear "it depends" all too often, which makes planning frustrating!

I can see how $2k can get you traveling, but unless you already own a HD Truck, or can drop significant amount down, + the cost the Trailer / 5th wheel, it is almost another $2k in vehicle
and RV payments each month.
We cannot predict truck and RV payments. So we just had to focus on expenses after the fact. 😀

If an RV, Camper, or whatever is one's primary residence, what does one do for a mailing address if a full-time nomad? Edit: Fuel in 2022 has to be "killing" anyone in 2022 if a traveling nomad...
I can’t remember the names but other videos I have heard that there are mail services and also Amazon that can forward mail to boxes or other places

Just having a plan is a huge step. Without a plan money disappears fast is our recommendation. Don’t ask us how we know. It can go a long way with a plan.

Very good videos. I think it would help a lot if not only giving the general amount that it takes to live in an RV full tume, also give a "general" income range such as your own (not specifically), that would be doable and comfortable. Saying 3k a month is doable is great, but it's not so great if you only make 36k a year, as opposed to 80k a year. I know there's a lot of variables, but this would guve people like me and my wife a better idea if we should even try this. Thanks.

Do most people start full-time on the road, debt free? Or, do they pay down debt after they're on the road?
I'm stationary in a park, right now. Own my older RV. Paying down debt, but prepping for boondocking and remote SQL programming work. So, debt not coming down as quick as I'd like with renovations and upgrades.
Every journey is different. It's all in what is best for you.
3k a month? I'm done. My budget is at 1.2K for a single person and that is without saving. I might have to stay where I am.

We have considered selling our home which we own out right worth $350K, buy ourselves a 5th wheel & dually truck and live out our time doing this, but I think it would be more expensive living like this than it would be just staying in our home. It really sounds expensive and sounds like throwing all your cash and worth into the toilet. In 15 years our new truck and Rv would be worth hardly anything and we would be living our elder years in a run down old Rv wishing we would have held onto our home that would have appreciated over that same time. Sounds very fun and cool, but also sounds extremely irresponsible financially.

I think it depends on what you value. With the sale of that home you could buy already used fifth wheel and dually and still have $$ left over for investments. Many of the sites are free and you can have the memories and the adventure of a lifetime…. Or you can keep your home, provides security and have all your money tied up in a house. Stare at the same four walls but be able to leave property to your kids. It all depends on what you value.
Hi Bill. I kind of struggled with this as well. I think that we all do, but let me ask you a simple question. If you feel happy in your current lifestyle then why are you watching videos seeking a different one? The truth is all of us come to a point in our lives where we feel that we are doing what is socially expected, and acceptable. Some few people will choose to leave the hamster wheel, and take a chance on a life that is filled with memories, instead of possessions. It is up to you which path you decide to take. I hope you find whatever path is the right one for you.
Could you rent out your home so you still have that equity, but use the rental payments to live full time rv’ing?

@@KendraAndTheLawnot that hard. I’m about to move to a park that is 600 a month with all utilities surrounding a lake where you can canoe and paddle boat for free. Each space has chairs, picnic table and fire pit. Quiet, safe area. Will be way less than what I’m paying for a one bedroom apartment.

I think their point is that even though you know how to cook it is very tempting to try new places when you are traveling. When I travel one of the things I look forward to the most is trying new foods and new restaurants that I might never get to try again. The key is to make sure you balance it with your budget.
