@Advanced Driving - That's interesting, because *_men,_* especially *drivers,* - in my experience as a year-round, *woman* cyclist in a city of 4M - tend to go ape-shit (i.e. "lose all sense of reason") and resort to yelling, nudging me with their car, and threatening or doing violence "when they get angry." Note that it was the *_man_* driver who had made the illegal move into the opposite-direction lane, not the woman.
What makes it right to do that as doctors...because they are special? They have every right to because they are late for work and wanted to jump ahead and mess with other people's safety? That makes sense. It's like a child that bites and you say "don't bite" and proceed to Bute then...make that and this make sense!!!!????
It's a long known fact that the worst drivers in the UK drive VOLVO'S.There was an article done in the 90s by a motor bike magazine and it had a percentage scale showing the type of vehicles that were involved in accidents with bikes and a Volvo was the highest at 60% out of 100

I'm a doctor (and cyclist I might add) and totally appalled by this kind of behaviour. This would definitely be pointed out during GMC revalidation and re-licencing as it's a clear breach of the professionalism conduct expected of a doctor.
@o z I understand that; this guy steps into traffic to stop cars breaking the law, not based on immediately saving someone about to be hit. So hypothetical safety combined with the letter of the law. The laws I am quite sure are the same regardless of size and physical weight of the vehicle, both from a hypothetical and literal interpretation of the law. In other words, hypocrisy.
@o z talk about snowflakes! The point here is that cyclists are breaking the law, literally riding by doing EXACTLY what the cars are doing and he doesn't bat an eye. You keep going on and on about how small a bike is, insinuating the laws don't apply to a bike even though the laws apply to a bike.
I like how this guy has the time to do this because I definitely would do it myself if I had the time to, feels good to see someone putting people in their place
A few months ago, as I went around a roundabout, I did not immediately join the cycle lane because I didn’t see the entrance. I thought I will join it down the road. A male driver, driving on his own, drove really aggressively towards me, gave me about 2inch room and started to shout. I shouted back. He said ‘ I was being aggressive’ and started to film me on his phone while driving and told me he was ‘ going to send it to the police’ !! I should have let it go at that but didn’t. A few traffic lights later he lost a wing mirror and as I shot off I shouted ‘ take that to the F ing police’

There is a cycle lane marked there. In most areas, you can use a cycle lane either way from what I've seen. Not that I would dare cycle anymore. Used to do a lot when I was a 16-17yr old going to work but 22 years later I wouldn't even cycle on my local traffic light back roads because of idiots like this.
Not just the wrong side of the road, the wrong side of an island designed to prevent that for safety. Thing is, its traffic lights causing the delay that wouldn't delay them long. It's also a cut through that is not necessary to take. Plenty of roads around the park
Yes, arguably they were overtaking, and there's nothing wrong with driving on the 'wrong side of the road', to overtake (if it is clear). However, passing the traffic refuge island on the wrong side is an offence.
It's not actually a cut through. It's outside the royal college of physicians heading south. But it is extremely dangerous, as someone could cross the road looking the wrong way. A doctor of all people, should be more careful.
@@jhferu Well actually there is - the diagonal white lines are there to tell you not to overtake on that side. The traffic island is extra on top of that - it's in the UK highway code. The driver should have learnt that on his test.
