Like Autoberry, I was also seeing INXS mime-perform on Countdown, so my heart will always be for Michael and the boys... Later, we all got to see them do it live. The Loved Ones is for other people.
Very cool Todd! Love seeing it. Don't know if it's me or your sound levels, but I find the sound on the INXS one to be a bit loud. I might have raised the volume to high when making this compilation. Part of the fun of your videos is when you read the comments. lol
The Magic Box is a decent late 60's record by a very competent band. The INXS version (1981) feels like Sydney of the early 80's. You should check more early INXS songs. They were great!
Good to see you check out both. I read through your description, and understand you were confused as to which year the INXS version was originally recorded. You viewed INXS's 1981 version, which proceeded their 1987 re-recording. I hated both INXS's versions, because I was a child in the 60's and The Loved Ones were a big part of my youth. Personally, I think I learn more towards INXS's 1981 version more than their 1987 version. But my heart will always be for The Loved Ones. Thanks for doing this video.
Van Morrison vibes is what I have always gotten from the Loved Ones version. Oh this is not the KICK version, the KICK version is way rockier, this is more similar to the original. I love all 3 versions! Btw i agree, Gary's bass is so good and so underappreciated!
Mushroomhead came out with a new song/video today. I’m dropping it here the link. Song is called “Prepackaged.” If you never heard of Mushroomhead before, they have a on stage performance that is so amazing. That could sometimes even might scare you.
LOL.. My post was a bit long, huh? I'll try and get to the gist next time. Glad you got to take a look at the INXS one. Really does take me back to early 80's Sydney. A bit more gritty in those days, but a lot more fun!
Two very good Loved Ones clips. Both are these are two minutes long. Maybe doing both in one video would save us all from waiting. THE LOVED ONES - SAD DARK EYES simmo
You might like to check your sound level. The INXS version comes off a bit loud. I'm sticking with The Loved Ones. Might have to do with me growing up in Melbourne.
Hi @BarbaraTowning - My show is recorded as one take with absolutely no edits thus no changes in recording volume. I used a "merged video" that someone created and was suggested for use by the original requestor for reaction. My guess if there is a volume issue, it would be with that merged video. When doing my reaction, I did not notice a volume increase but as I stated in my video, everything was cleaner, more intense and mixed upfront (especially the bass guitar) for the INXS version over The Loved Ones. This is basically due to better recording technics in the 1980's versus the 1960's. I would check out the original video to learn if that has the volume increase. My guess it does. Take care and keep rockin' ...

INXS.. INXS.. INXS!!! I was a Countdown kid and I saw INXS do this song in the Countdown studio. The Loved Ones was just before my time. Cheers!
Bravo!!! I like INXS, but Loved Ones is my DNA! Ta...

The singer / sound of the Loved Ones reminded me of Eric Burdon and The Animals.
I get Van Morrison, but can totally hear The Animals!

Loved the live Wembley 1991 version by INXS.
Definitely INXS!
