- The smaller your punch hole, the wider the band. A larger punch hole will produce more of a womens size ring. Here's how to get a 1/4" punch hole onto your mandrel.

Not only have you provided excellent instruction in a manner unique to you ( which keeps me loose because of the fun you seem to be having) but the way you’ve laid out your work station has made for me the process flow so much better. Thanks Fence Kid. May you stay forever young.
Fencekid you are definitely a you tube exclusive, not only are your videos helpful but they can be hilarious. Thank you for your wisdom and approach to coin ring making definitely thumbs up on all your videos
I just wanted to tell you that your videos are so helpful and much appreciated. Your a good man and have much talent!
Hi, love the videos, but one request. When you are finished with the ring, could you set it down and get a closeup of the ring.
You might also go for a closeup as you are changing machines just so we can see how it looks.
Thanks Tom
One of your first videos got me started with coin rings! Loving how far you have come since then! And you are right about Jason and his tools - they are the BOMB! This way is so much better! Keep improving and being an inspiration to many!
Hurricane Polk I know. I don’t want to spend hundreds on a hobby like this. What tools do you recommend?
Andrew Richardson go onto etsy and look at coinringusa he has nice semi cheaper tools. I have a lot of them. Also a couple named coinringtools. They have a nice punch set called the mega punch for 150 or so comes with like 5 or six dif punch sizes. Also have nice end caps for your arbor press and your hydro press to make them 100% easier to use!
@Hurricane Polk I bought a self entering coin punch and it was half the price of the Jason Ross Auto punch, now that I know I enjoy and continue to make coin rings I really wish I would have paid the extra money and got the best punch which is by far the Jason Punch. I also wanted a Dursten ring stretcher/reducer six spline, but the cost is twice the price of the stretcher/reducer four spline I bought on Amazon ... I regret not buying the Dursten. If you have a hobby that you enjoy then its a good idea to invest in it. could use a hammer and ring mandrel if just making a few rings. Just saying
Thanks for sharing your new creative ideas Fencekid. Love your videos and your workspace is very clean and organized.
You really upgraded your tool selection since the last video i saw of your ring making.
I need to make a trip to Harbor Freight ASAP!!!
Hey Fencekid, I love your canning and garden videos. Any chance you will be making a new one? Lots of folks wondering. Thanks
Needed a close up of finished product, couldn't really see how it came out :(
love your videos! Gave me a new hobby.
Hello, I was curious about how you're filming this? Gopro on a hat? Looks good
Nice job. Do you finish off your rings with any sort of protection. I have been using a clear high gloss powder coat system. Makes them turn out nice. I’ve been making rings for about a year and a half. I make anything from a quarter size and up in American and international coins I also make them out of military challenge coins. Just wanted to say thanks. I got started by watching your vids and some other coin makers vids. Have a great day If you want to see any of the challenge coin rings I’d be happy to send you pics. Your opinion would be great
Where can we purchase your rings? Do you do custom orders if we send you a lucky coin? Love your channel❤️🌺

It's a 1-ton (they don't sell a 2-ton arbor press) press, from Harbor Freight. I have it, and a 1/2-ton that's still in its box.
Mine was open-box, lower price because there was no handle so I use a 6" and 12" 3/8-drive socket extension.
It was a perfect buy, really, considering everyone changes the handle on those arbor presses.
That being said, thanks for making and sharing this video.
Thanks so much for making these videos, I can't tell you how many of your tips I am putting into practice as I learn the craft of coin ring making. I was wondering if you might do a video about protecting clad rings with protectaclear or other coating, to prevent "green finger"? I know many experienced coin ring makers would suggest you only do real silver coins, but I thought offering clad rings would be a lower cost alternative to make available on my online shop or any craft shows (when I get good enough to get to that point)... anyway, thanks again for sharing your skills and knowledge, very appreciated!
Fence kid I've been watching you for quite some time. When I was a kid my dad made me a ring with a silver quarter and he flattened the rounding of it with a spoon. It took a long time to make a ring. I tried to get him to make me another one since I'm older, but it's just been too long. I really like the way yours turn out. I don't know what you polish them with but they turn out so shiny. I would be interested in purchasing a few from you. I really enjoy your videos, thank you so much for sharing your talent
Cool. The first ring I ever made was the tap out method you speak of. First couple actually. (One for my girl, one for me. my first couple ring vids I have were these rings) Then I upped my game by tapping out a half dollar, which came out way sweet. Once I figured out the fold over method, I haven't been back to the tap. I included a link to my ring shop in the description box. Thanks
Excellent video! You have stepped up your game from back when we got jujubes and watched you pound away them. 8D
great vid !!! im just getting all my tools for this now.. i cant wait to try the different coins!
Great video! Joe
Love the channel! Are you still making coin rings? I sure could use some advise to get started. Thanks for all the great videos.
you doing alright brother? its been a while since u posted a video and one with coin rings...i learned alot from your videos when i first started making rings. are you still making them?
Boa noite muito bom trabalho pode me passar a lista de ferramentas
+fencekid Where did you get your driftpin? I can't seem to find that size on Amazon or at my local PepBoys Auto?
After you finish do you ever put anything on the ring to make the patina last. I just realized y you made a small hole. Nice job
Yes love the videos and your shop set up .... Awesome, can't wait to start toolin up my next hobby
What brand ring stretcher/reducer are you using? I'm looking to step away from the old school ring mandrel shaping and get a more efficient tool.
What brand of ring stretcher do you have??
Great Video. What brand is your ring stretcher?
Like all your videos. You make it look easy.
Have you lost interested in making coin rings? Wish you would make new videos related to coin rings
dapping block. theyre 40 bucks. can make a cone fit mandrel from any size hole.
Hey Fencekid give a plumbob a try it works better than the drift pin, you can also put it in the arbor press because its so short.
Great idea! Thanks for sharing.
Hi, Another great video!! Thanks for making these, I've been quite captivated by them since stumbling across one of them awhile back. Couple of quick questions for ya, are you no longer using Liver Of Sulpher for the Patina? And have you come up with anything to prevent "Green Finger" when using the clads?? Again, thanks for the vids, Jim
Yeah, I still use LOS on silver rings. The fire scale left on these clads works out great for patina look. The best I've found to seal these rings is ProtectAclear. It's a resin type liquid that you bake onto the ring, and lasts longer than anything else I've tried, but it still eventually rubs off. There's just way to much rubbing action happening on hands. A ring necklace patina ring would last much longer
What's the name of this yellow cable tool on your right?
great video, love your cool set up, I am over in England bit harder to get all the gear to start up,gong to give it a try. Newcastle rob
What's the name of this yellow cable tool?
May I ask you where you got the varios reduction plates for your stretcher/reducer ?
Can't find a good seller for these things
Jason's Works. Same guy who does the punch
Awesome tutorial! Thanks!
Hey kid can you recommend a ring stretcher? What kind is yours? They sell cheap ones on eBay are they any good?
Michael Del Buono I smoked through one of those cheap ones pretty quick. Bit the bullet and got a durston. Worth every penny
Hey dude. I would love to know how you made the sanding jig for your drill.
Ya mean these? www.etsy.com/listing/267370914/sale-original-coin-ring-rounding?ref=shop_home_feat_4
Very cool. Thanks
Looks like you first stretched hole side up? I'm I correct? Great work as always .
Yeah, I was at the end of an anneal cycle and wanted to keep an eye on that edge in case she wanted to start splitting. Once softened up again, hole side down
What do you do with those coin holes once you punched the coin? Do you just throw them away or they get recycled?
The silver plugs get recycled, the clads get tossed
Another great tip Fencekid.
I am interested in a ring how much would you charge for one and to ship out it would be a wedding band for me
Liud Rosado Contact him at his shop it is in the description
Where did Fencekid disappear to?
Good question..his videos are the first I have watched doing coin rings..I have only been doing it for a couple of months and have recently sold 4..I mostly only do silver quarters or silver rounds..the Aztec calendar rounds look so good with the design..1/4 and 1/2 oz come out great.
@@billholb1974 Hes alive and well. He responded to one of my comments here a few weeks back. He has a new job and is focused on that but did say he will be making a new video of some sort in the future! Hopefully soon! Ive been enjoying his cooking vids recently and would be cool to see a day in the life vid too. We have to keep bugging him to make it happen lol!
Was wondering if you could make some rings for me and what would be the cost
Absolutely. Get a hold of me over at my shop. Link in the description
What size punch are you using. Thanks
Sparky TwoWheels 1/4 inch
Would anyone happen to know if it is illegal to remove the engravings? I’ve made rings in the past out of wrenches and engraved them myselve and was wondering if I were to remove the engravings (dates, faces, wordings, etc) if that would be legal. I’ve sold rings made out of wrenches and say is it legal to sell coin rings, without their engravings or with new engravings? Or if at all?
Meme Lord Pepe As long as you arent changing the markings to pass the coin as higher value than the coin is worth (changing the date for example) yer good. The law pertains to fraudulent intent.
So let us say if I were to sand off all the dates, faces and what not to engrave Norce Runes such as Algiz or Tyr and so on that is totally legal?
Forgot to mention this, could I then sell said coins? I watched your video if it were legal did the research but I feel it’s sll very vague.
Yes. The law pertains to "fraudulent intent" meaning yer going to manipulate the coin, the date for example, and then sell it for more money than it is really worth. Or another example would be to sand of one of Lincons ears, and claim it was a mistake made at the mint, and only a few of these coins were struck. Making them more valuable. Can your example be passed off as US currency? No. What you would be selling, is art. What ring making is doing, and what you're doing is more along the lines of removing currency from circulation. Is it against the law to throw coins into the abyss, never to be seen again? Or into a wishing well? No
Alright thank you. So based on what you tell me it is totally legal to sand off everything and then engrave because that is now art. The act of removing it from US currency and it is now art. The thing I was most worried about was engraving on it something entirely different, now I know I can sand and engrave my own touch(Norce Runes) I’m glad. If any of what I took from what you said is wrong do please tell me but I’ll begin engraving and sanding once im at that point.
Do you still make rings? Also. Do you ever make rings out of coins that people have? I purchased 2 quarters super sentimental to me and wanted to have a woman make rings from them for myself and my son, in honor of my father who passed... well. When the time came she said she no longer makes the coin rings due to being pregnant and not being able to expose her unborn child to the chemicals it requires to make the rings?
Most coin ring makers don't want to mess up anything sentimental..because mistakes happen.
That's a nice tool but why didn't you just punch a bigger hole to start
To maximize the width of the ring band. Smaller the hole, the wider your band will be
Make your own if you want to see pretty coin up close
🔥 very cool! 💀💍
