Great video Tim, this is what I meant with ”geek” content over on that forum when we were discussing RUclips. Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you and your team!
Neat idea w the thread. I wonder if the rtv presses into the strands while it flattens to create basically a fiber back up. 10kpsi + hydraulics all use ptfe BU rings to help the seal extrude into a stronger, yet soft surface. Wonder if you can find ptfe thread. Thanks for sharing a neat trick
Hi what sealant are you using I use Hylomar on Motorcycle and Harley engines What brand and size of string are you using Thank you for sharing your knowledge !!!!!
ah ,,, no smear on the mating case ,,,, thats interesting , I always put the finest wipe on the mating case then you know no oil or grease will interfere with the seal as all your actually joining is gasket maker to gasket maker and it bonds with itself easily .
An absolute craftsman..

This is actually anaerobic sealant instead of vulcanizing sealant!
This is class, quality idea
Informative and entertaining, Thank you !!
We appreciate the feedback!❤

Worth DOS flange sealant and Continental Auto Silk Thread.
Never seen the string thing, need more data on this technique
Loctite 518 will also get the job done- same quality, slightly cheaper.
What kind of thread do you use?
Silk thread.
Can you advise what size?
🧵 🪡 😂

This is not a trick, Lycoming and Continental Aero engines are sealed RTV is not ideal to use with thread.
You are correct. Vulcanizing sealant (not this) and Thread are not to be used together. This is Anaerobic.
So it is a trick, just one you didn’t know about
