Simple: Stop playing games and clicking random links on Facebook. That’s how they get access to your account. You give them permission without even knowing it.
And call their phone if you have their phone number or ask them to do a video call with you in messenger to confirm if that really is your friend messaging you.

FYI, if someone knows about you. And has pictures of you. Guess what, they can create a FB account and pretend to be you. If I were you. I would not get FB because I want it. I would get FB to make sure I can monitor my own identity. I know a few old people who complain about fraud on their bank accounts and store cards. They 'believe' that just because they do not use the internet. Does not mean someone else is not accessing a database with all their information. The basic ignorance is almost to the point of absurdity. I grew up with the technology and much of its transitions. So the concept is not lost on me. They still believe some thieving garbage has to physically go and access the bulk of their data. Wrong, everything about you in part or in whole. Is setting on drive somewhere. I remember the period of over a decade. Me and them talked about the transitions of technology and culture. Keep in mind there are decades between us. These are people whom refused to get a cell phone. Even though they knew that payphones were being ripped out left and right. They only got a pay phone. When they had to make a call. And there was none to be seen. As I get older. I long accepted that the world is going to change around me. I just hope it changes for the better.

My account was hacked and the hacker changed my email, phone number, and password, including enabling 2FA. Despite my efforts, I was unable to resolve the issue through the usual process. However, with the help of *codacyethics* I was finally able to regain access to my account.
Good statement there and also quit and deleted accounts used to have Facebook but not anymore and with this part of the news really a good idea not to look back and really can't recover the social harms are just numerous and really having the profile just is more trouble than worth.
The issue is that the scammers are infecting your phones and computers and tablets by sending you a message with an image. The image has malware code inside the image . Once the image is loaded on your screen it installs malware onto the device which then allows root access to your computer. They then don't need to have your password. All they do is steal your session cookies and uses them which impersonates your computer so Facebook servers can't tell if it's someone else computer it bypasses having to log in to the website and they instantly get access to your account. I experienced this and had to manually remove the malware. It's not easy and no anti--virus or anti-malware software would detect this.
I never accept friend requests from people that I don't know and I don't respond to messages from my Facebook friends that never send me Facebook messages. If that happens I screenshot the message, make a post and tag the Facebook friend, so that they can warn their other Facebook friends and also they can report it.
It happend to me in October 2023 I got a code that said help me find my account to a friend and it was a scam I just want to have my old social media account back but had no luck

Never EVER give an authentication code to ANYONE. That’s how a scammer hacks you, not just on Facebook, but on any app. If you’re talking to who you think is customer service, and they ask you for the code, that’s your cue to hang up, cuz that isn’t them. Especially if they called you. Amazon or Apple will not call you, especially not regarding a package that you supposedly ordered, or a problem with any technology.

And I was tired, and busy, and so made this massive error of judgement. Eben that wasn't the worst. The worst was that a handful of people decided my second account was a clone, and had it locked. Supposedly you will be able to reenter with a password FB will send you but nothing worked. One person in particular seemed to think he had a licence to ask me intrusive personal questions, then still calling me a clone. Hell never ne on any Christmas list of mine now anyway. In the end I created a third account, as this is the only way I can find new students, and keep in touch with a lot of people. But many are still too paranoid to respond to my friend requests.
