Couldn't deal anymore with youtube ads and since I'm a web dev, using ad blockers gets in the way at times debugging javascript code. So I'm Premium on RUclips. Best way to deal with ads is building a Pi-Hole. Kinda easy to build, cheap and doesn't mess locally with browsing experience and works at the network level. Globally, I like paying the content creator I use a lot and want to help them, be it direct cash, Patreon or whitelist.

I can only take so many dumb ads for scams and gimmicky games, not to mention the multiple 30-second unskippable ads before I just say "F**k it! Enough already!" RUclips is going down the drain. RUclips needs to take a page from Rumble, and allow a single ad before every video. Limit ads to no more than 20 seconds. I can live with that.

RUclips ads are broken. I have always thought RUclips and video creators should be getting either ad revenue or subscription revenue, but one of the reasons I started using AdBlock back in the day was because either the ad would cause issues loading videos, or you end up with an ad 5 times as long as the video you're trying to watch, particularly if I'm listening to a video in the background. There has to be a middle ground.

If Scroogle could just establish a basic add pattern... Cable TV did that back in their hay-day... Now, we've got beat-sheets and a formula for 1 minute per page typed... and everything functions relatively well, EVEN with the so-called dying out of Cable to Streaming... It's not irrecoverable... THERE could be a fine middle ground... There isn't even a bunch of work to be done so it's MORE attractive to everybody involved than Cable TV...
BUT no... There's inevitably 10 minutes of ad's coming for every 2 to 5 minutes of videos that I CLICKED TO WATCH... no. I didn't pay so much for a computer to do stuff EVERYBODY BUT ME wants to do or see on it! I'll tolerate some leeway, but this isn't it.
Had they established a LIFE TIME BAN on every advertiser that jumped ship back in "Ad-pocalypse 1.0" and repeated the process with 2.0... Then advertisement space and time on YT would be MORE precious, not ever-cheaper. Everybody involved would be better off...
As it is, there's no point in cutting cords. I'll go BACK to Cable and save myself the headache. At least on Cable there's only about 3 minutes of ad's for 10 to 20 minutes of what I CHOOSE to watch...
There's always Vimeo and others... This platform is about to DOOM itself. ;o)

I don't pay attention to adds whatsoever, I just stare at the countdown to skip slip. I was born in the 70s, I actually have a long attention span and I'm highly focused. If I'm watching a video or about to watch a video, my mind is fixated on that, adds are just blips that barely break my concentration. Adds have no effect on my subconscious either. If I want something, I look it up and buy it. Adds just inconvenience me until the 5 second marker counts down.

I get weird ultra right-wing ads mixed with ads all in Spanish. I'm not entirely sure how that works, but neither is anything I'm actually interested in.

Advertising is annoying. But it has ALWAYS been used to support the creators, producers, and providers.
Those people deserve to be payed for their work.
I suppose each of the consumers could decide to pay out of pocket for the art.
