When this was released a few years back, some people disliked Rachelle belting the notes in this song but, in an interview, she said she had the permission of their director to belt it just for this specific performance
Lea's voice was epic.. she's aged but the voice never changed at all.. I feel like I'm still hearing Eponine and Princess Jasmine in Alladin.... Her crystal clear pronunciation and her tone really amazed me..

Look at how she commits. Lea hasn't played this role in DECADES. But she COMMITS, she gives in to it as a character, perhaps even more than Rachell. That's a classy actress. She leans into this character even though it's a concert performance.
Lea doesn't belt much but she can..one of the requirements for being the lead in Miss Saigon is to be able to hit E5 with ease and let me quote the producers of that show "with the lungs of steel" and she got the role. Even went back to close the original show on broadway.
She’s a good singer period. There’s alot of singers out there who can belt but not a good singer.
Lea Salonga is such a legend. She has always been supportive of those that has followed her in Miss Saigon. The shadow she has casted upon the Broadway world has hard enough to follow for anyone. Even more so to a Filipina singer. I was lucky enough to see her perform as Kim with the original NY Broadway company decades ago.
I like miss leah salonga's style of singing. When she sings she's like seeing someone around that we can't see..something invisible...you can watch jed madela's impersonation of miss lea.

Imagine two generations of filipino artist are on center stage of west end for that big number. They are the main characters and that was the highlight of that all star gala. it could be other nationality but cant deny these two are the best and both are filipina. Cant stop being proud. ❤🇵🇭

Rachelle is a mainstream pop singer in the philippines. She auditioned for miss saigon in the philippines and got a call from the production. She is such a versatile singer. I am also surprised that she can sing classical. Anyway about that run she did in this song, she actually asked the boss for a permision to do it. And they liked it so they let her do it. 😊

Sarah won "STAR FOR A NIGHT" in 2003 with her rendition of celine dion To Love You More and Rachelle won "SEARCH FOR A STAR" in 2004 with her rendition of mariah carey's through the rain. both are hosted by regine and the next grand winner after her was Jona. 😊

The Movie in My Mind is one of my favorite duets in Miss Saigon. And that duet (Ms Rachelle and Ms Lea) made me teary eyed as well. Although this was years ago I still watch it whenever I can.

I am so happy for Rachelle... Early in her career she was a bit underrated, always being compared and rivaled with Sarah and other female singers of her generation. Then they went into different musical paths and both of them are shining in their own chosen way 💕

Lea has been in and out of the UK and the US for 3 decades already. She's been speaking in English since she went there and she studied at the OB Montessori school in her younger days, so why be so shady about it? Rachelle on the other hand has been speaking English too and in fact, she did a great job if you saw her played Ariel in the Little Mermaid at the Meralco Theater in 2012 and as Jane in Tarzan also at the Meralco Theater in 2013 but Rachelle's mother tongue is Tagalog. She was a pop star here in our country before she became a theater star while Lea has always been into theater (where most of the time people speak English).

RACHELLE ANN GO is the only singer that is very similar to LEA SALONGA's achievements in the Musical industry, just so you know many singer in the Philippines admire her because she is so powerful and versatile voice. Fact: she played Gigi in Miss Saigon,. Fantine in Les Miserable, Mary Magdalene in Jesus the opera, Eliza Hamilton, cinderella, ariel of little mermaid, jane of tarzan and so many many more..... :)
