In the 1920's you lose your pants, everyone turns away respectfully so you can attend your problem. In the 2020's you lose your pants, everyone whips out a phone and starts recording.
The dance for the policeman makes me hysterical every time! And he is so very, very beautiful in this film. Well, he was beautiful all the time, but sigh. The most beautiful man ever. 😍
wow the ending is really spectacular. ive seen all shirts up until Neighbors and so far this is his most acrobatic and elaborate gag staging. it serves the story very well. this guy never ceases to amaze me.
Buster at his acrobatic best, a deft interplay of jaw dropping stunts and irony, and a nice line in racial identity, when he's half black and half white, depending on which side he's viewed, note to say it was the 20s and the black people in this actually had proper parts. They were scared of the white ghost, which is possibly a suggestion of racial discrimination, the blacks scared of the whites. Such is Busters physical beauty that he even looks stunning covered in mud. I don't think I've ever seen such a beautiful exquisite looking man in my life as him. The Sooty Show another brilliant thoughtful and slapstick surreal comedy definitely has shades of Busters films, just watch a few episodes and youll see what I mean.
@@Gabi.Dunkel Model T Ford's back then were crank to start. They often broke the person's arm who was trying to start the thing. It would backfire. As in, Ford's are unreliable, break a lot, and are generally uncooperative. I own a Ford myself, and it seems to be alright.
Not as timeless as one of his hallmark classics (Sherlock Jr., The General, Steamboat Bill Jr.), but still an astounding piece of film-making. The judge character is somewhat wtf though.
Today, fortunately those great classics are on YT. More than 20 years ago, I watched many of them on Retro Channel (one of the best DirecTV channels, in Brazil), and a few years later, several were released on DVD. Buster Keaton was really a genius. In 100 years from now, he'll still be recognized so.
There were many Vaudeville acts who did similar stunts, so it's likely some old vaudeville buddies, saying that, it looks like Buster's coat may have a wire underneath it.
Nikhil Iyer they shot it exactly as you see it, which is one of the amazing things about Buster Keaton. Nothing was a trick shot, no CGI, etc. in this instance, Buster hired a few acrobat artists that performed this kind of thing at their own shows. 🙂
So, unless the he’s WAY older than he looks, the judge was alive during the Civil War. Not just alive but probably remembers it. If he’s 70 here then he was almost old enough to fight in it.
The fact that this is 101 years old and still comedy gold is amazing

The man that turns up at 1:27 (Playing Buster's father) is his real-life father Joe Keaton! 👍
What happened tu you
I bought a ford😁😂😀
😂Bad engineering was one joke Buster always took personally
If you didn't hold the engine crank just right when you start it, it could bust your arm.
The funniest man with the saddest eyes
He lived in a society
huh

I love that his looks are commented on. He was a handsome man in addition to being wildly talented and brilliant. What a combo.

I’m laughing so hard and it’s 2019. Just shows how timeless things can be.
2020 already, and I am laughing, too!
Very true
Hi from 2022, the… next roaring twenties? Anyway, I’m laughing my ass off here too
2023 and that statement still holds true.
ANOTHER undeniable proof, that Buster Keaton was THE KING of Comedy... above all others ♥♥♥♥
A hundred years old and still as amazing as ever
he was so acrobatic and strong, all this work needs a lot of fitness
Insanely funny. A fitting score, too! Thanks so much for posting!!
Again and again I have to pause video because of over laugh pain in my ribs.
Buster king of silent comedy
one of the best movie of keaton...the neighbors
Dang the gags after 4:23 wouldn't pass these days
Demasiada risa. Gracias infinitas Buster por tanto. Mi papá me lo descubrió y hoy lo disfruto con mi hijo. Verdaderamente inmortal tanto talento.
Now 2022 all time all generations like this movie
Damn, the stunt in last 2 minutes is unbelievable!!
AMAZING & HILARIOUS ATTHE SAME TIME!!! Buster did ALL of his own stunts, FYI...
12:26 Ford jokes are as old as time itself
Can you explain it to me? I didn't understand the joke with "i bought a Ford" 😅

Truly mind boggling, jaw dropping physicality all the way through this film. Bravo Buster Keaton!

Never gets old

Damn CGI :-D

This is ridiculous. I love it.
The guy who played Buster's father was indeed his father.. how the hell did he shot the scene between 16:14 & 17:15 ???
Nikhil Iyer By using very talented people and a lot of practice, I'm sure!

If you look carefully they switch him for a dummy in between scenes
Seth Williams where?
Lovely.

The actor who plays the judge was born in 1882, so he was 38 years old when the short was made.
muy buenoo!
primera vez que lo veoo
This is an amazing movie indeed!
9:34 howww did they do that 🤯 Is it real? how he didn't break his back or somethinggg wow
It's a dummy, you can see the other actor holding it still
6:44 the classic
That was brilliant!
Brilliant.
That gag with the three-man tower is exceptional! Old pals from vaudeville, maybe?
Another great Buster Keaton short. Worth saving to watch many times over.
Okay, so didn't realize Buster invented the zip line.
