SF6 has more detailed character models but KOFXV has the better looking models, in my opinion… Especially for the male characters. Bottom line, I prefer Terry’s character model in KOFXV.
SF6 didn’t nail the Crack-Shoot/Kick Bat quite right. Kof stays true to the roots making the kick look more like a over exaggerated jumping contorted roundhouse that modifies into a axe kick with the key frames intact (Seeing Terry off-leg and torso twist supplying the torque then bending the knee of the leaping leg the bottom of his sneaker). SF6 on the other makes its look like a Body toss into a front flip Axe kick like FF1 with FF2 Kick animation. The key frames from KoF are missing as described above. Few Thing to note he isn’t holding his hat while performing the move which actually helps costume 2 since he still holds his hat on the rising tacking landing, His ponytail stays straight rather than in a “C” position from the whiplash (Which debuted in 95) Sorry for the long winded comment but. I appreciate both games animations. They both do Terry justice. But My only gripe is SF6 Terry is really too happy go lucky since he was given Ken’s personality and Ken was given Terry’s look.

Man, the KOF version sucks because it’s way too FAST. Sometimes you need to slow down by just half a second so you can actually see the animation and key poses.

what is it about SF6's animation that makes it look so much better than all other current gen fighters? mocap?
A mixture of mocap and really good hand animation for SF6. MK for instance is mostly mocap which for fighting games can sometimes feel floaty.
more key frames as well. The animation in KOF looks like its missing alot of key frames and thats why it doesnt looks smooth
It does use mocap but that's not the reason it looks good. I'm sure the hand animated parts are what improves it.
Can’t wait for Mai when she is in SF6 can confirm she will be animated much better and it’ll look smoother in sf6 cause that engine is just peak
