Nice to see Jack in the lead role, i've always had a sort of curious soft spot for Saab, would be awesome to see a full restoration/road trip with this car.
I have a Saab sportswagon diesel automatic 93 that you can have for £3k I absolutely HATE this car, had new water pump, rebuilt alternator, new timing belt and had to have a new Cim. Saab is most definitely the WORST car I have ever owned.
Great seeing Jack as the main presenter, he´s really good at it. I think the saab specialist should do the stuff to get it road worthy again and for other things like the bodywork, rust and stuff, I think it would be a great idea if you took it to various local specialists and showcase their craftsmanship.
Great seeing Jack doing the lead role! The Saab 100% needs to be saved, get the car back looking mint then do the usual EGR & DPF deleted & mapped out, welded inlet, stage 1 remap from TP Remapping and the car will be transformed! I bought one as an "emergency" purchase after a crash. Ended up keeping it for 3 years as it was a cracking car and sold it to a mate who is still using it as his daily 😁 Bought a second one off another friend for scrap money as a spares car. Ended up tarting it up, put a MOT on it and sold it to a third mate! Bought it back off him 18 months later (again as a spares car) then sold it to the first mate as a spares car 🤣 Massively underrated and unfairly tarnished with the "Vectra with a Saab badge" image. Seem to be getting thinner on the ground all of a sudden and it's great to see someone looking after them!
You Should totally do the restoration! These restoration videos are so satisfying and I love the idea of keeping a good used car on the street and showing them love. Seems like the cornerstone of this channel.
Good to see jack doing his own video! Always loved a Saab, I think this one deserves the full treatment, get it back to as good as it can possibly be! It'd be nice to see some of the cars treated with a bit more love and maybe a bit more longevity to them on the channel. Loads of daft stuff you can do with a decent estate car without having to destroy them.
My father was a Saab mechanic in a small independent Saab Dealership - from the 60's through until the mid-80's. I'm a fan of Saab's and have owned two - a 9000 Turbo SE Auto and (briefly has it had issues) a Diesel 9-5. Although I don't currently have a Saab, they still have a special place in my heart and I love the fact that there are still people out there keeping these awesome cars alive. Well done!
I love that you're taking care of this Saab. These cars deserve such great love, and I'm so happy to see people dedicating their time restoring so many of them. My absolute respect!
So glad to see this 9-3 again. When my trusty (not) first car ('06 Corsa) was written off this winter by someone who doesnt understand ice, I was able to buy myself an' 04 9-3 convertible with the payout, and i credit this £500 hero with convincing me to make that mad decision. I'm so glad i did, i didn't realise at the time it would do this, but driving a car I truly care about, that makes every trip feel that little bit special, has pulled me out of a 3 year depressive cycle, given me such a confidence boost, and consequently given me the drive to get out of a dead end job and get into a job im excited about, with a 50% raise to boot. So thank you SAAB, and thank you Car Throttle, truly.
Saabs are great! My first car was a 08’ 93 2.0T and I still have it! By far my favorite car I’ve own and have owned. Hopefully you guys will spend the money to save this Saab!
The 9-5 one is more refined, doesn't come out like its about stab you, I reckon they gave the design job to some intern who wanted to work on something more complex and was out to prove a point, same goes for the air vents.
Great job Jack on the presenting, subtle without dominating the discussion. It’s about the car not him. Give the car a new life and a road trip to the Northern lights and a tour of Sweden sounds great. Perhaps some Swedish rally roads, back to the heritage of the early cars.
As a fellow owner of one of these early ones (an '03 Vector petrol) for the past 10 years, they're amazing cars and this one deserves the love, especially considering what it's been through.... Also, Ash seems like a great guy, I'm sorely tempted to get to the UK somehow so I can pay his shop a visit.

This Saab clearly isn’t ready to die, even without your love. I say spend the coin and get it safe, do the remap and enjoy driving the legend. It would also benefit from changing the transmission fluid. I have a 2001 Aero convertible with 32,000km on it which is a time machine. It is like driving a new car. Saab’s are not so popular in Australia but are worth saving.

He keeps saying how much he enjoys it and it'd be a waste to bin it for laughs. Make it a series with Sam in on it, like Adam from Volkstechniks with the 3 Series Compact. Then a road trip to Sweden for a Saab/Scania meet. Taking the SAAB home would be amazing. You could hit up the factory in Trollhättan first, get some cheap E85 in the area as well. Then just slowly work your way up north until you hit the old testing grounds in Kiruna and the ice lake out there.

I’d love to see the Saab get the full, mint repair/resto done on it, it really does deserve it! Would then be great to see it get taken on a good road trip somewhere, totally down for that!! Keep up the great work boys!!
Seeing Jack as a presenter is awesome. I'm so happy and i hope we can see videos frequently. I'm hoping you can bring the Saab to mint condition and then go to Northern lights👌🏼 But I want the full trio there!
as someone who was a Saab specialist tech, i grew to like the petrol Saabs, but the 1.9 Diesels always gave more grief. Swirl flap issues, EGR issues, DPF regen failures etc. But they were still nice to work on.
@@oscarmathia6112 yeah those are getting a bit rarer, I only ever saw a couple when I was a saab specialist a couple years back. and as you said, swirl flap delete, egr delete and dpf delete and remap will actually be cheaper than replacing the intake manifold and swirl flap assembly.

Give it the works! Never owned a Saab but where I’m at I see a lot of them on the road still. It would be amazing to see this wagon fully restored to its former glory!
Great to see a company looking after these motors, they're going to be very very rare real soon, and they pretty much are already. What a shame that Saab's motoring arm folded and in 2022 it's China who's getting all the money and custom. Saab's were unique and paid some serious homage to their aircraft design and engineering. Can't think of anything else quite like them.
can confirm saabs are a fire hazard, had an electrical fire in my saab 9-3, part of the interior is black from the smoke, but it seemed like nothing was damaged at all except the panel under which the wires were located
got my 2010 93 ttid from these guys last year and i love it ...have had zero issues with it , bought it blind as theres no way someone so passionate about Saabs was going to rip you off... want a 2010/11 95 ttid next please
I got my 2004 93 aero for £500 5 years ago. 50.000 miles later it's still going strong. Had to change the alternator twice though and the radio only works sometimes and the front windows don't go down and the ac has stopped working. It has a warning on the dash that both brake lights have failed even though they work fine. The aerial on the roof has dropped off and the laquer is peeling off. It passed it's last mot with no advisory's . Love that car so much I've ordered a replacement aerial.
I think that it would be awesome to see it restored to mint condition considering that despite being worth nothing and being treated to burnouts and skids it keeps going.
these look so cool, I just wish they were RWD, same goes for 159's. I understand the financial reasons but I can't help thinking, what if these were RWD...
The funny thing is, the platform of the 159 was actually engineered with a possible RWD layout in mind, with longitudinal engines up to V8s. (Besides the common FWD/AWD setup with tranverse engines). Examples of this plan being the 2002 Brera concept or the Insignia concept from 2003... But GM cheaped out and didn't want to use this rather expensive platform from FIAT for their bigger Cadillac/Opel/Vauxhall/Saab models as it was inteded. So only the FWD version made it to production and all these shenanigans just ended up making the 159, Brera and Spider unncessarily heavy with rather tight interiors - for their class. Despite these shortcomings the 159 still remains an absolute timeless piece of automotive design. Back in the day I ended up buying a YS3F, because the Alfa had no properly nice petrol engines - when the SAAB had an all new turbo petrol.
@@shieldmaiden1248 FWD beats RWD in economics, safety and weight. But I get what you mean! That 4wd Saab they saw in the yard of this video I would love to see restored and turbo'ed to hell and back

I would love to see more of the Saab, it just brings a big smile on my face when i see Jack talking about it and driving it.
I'm hoping you can bring the Saab to mint condition and then go to Northern lights👌🏼
But I want the full trio there!
as someone who was a Saab specialist tech, i grew to like the petrol Saabs, but the 1.9 Diesels always gave more grief. Swirl flap issues, EGR issues, DPF regen failures etc.
But they were still nice to work on.
I love my 8v, even if you cant tune it as high as the 16v. But no swirl flap and dpf, and i have blocked the egr. 200.000 miles going strong :)
@@rotary_turbo99 nothing to do with Saabs, but 👍🏻 for your profile pic, big fan of ATHF!
GM common issues, same as on Vauxhalls?
swirl flaps, egr, dpf problems are pretty common on every car. Otherwise The Fiat engine is a damn good one.
first, i love jack being a main presenter and yes, fix the car and do the road trip. we love a road trip.!!!! i fixed my audi (don't mock me) 6 years ago i kept up with maintenance and ever since drive back to southern italy (Napoli) 1208miles in 24h (i don't stop apart for fuel and coffee and break and drive for 24h straight no night stop or hotels) the car now have 263k miles and still going although a little bit down on power. if you look after that car it will look after you. as my does for me. (i know they are not comparable to saab but i love my Audi. cheers guys. keep up the good work and we love seeing you releasing new videos to entertain us. Danilo from Whitstable x
Fix it, tune it and take it back to its home on an epic road trip! 👍
Back in the day (1982 - 2007) I had four Saabs - a 99 Combi Coupe, a 99 saloon and two 900i. Loved them all.
I would love to see the full restoration, if you can afford it. You are a great presenter Jack
I really enjoyed this episode. I’ve admired SAAB from a distance. I’m not saying I’ll get one, but it’s now on my radar. Please do a full restoration!
can confirm saabs are a fire hazard, had an electrical fire in my saab 9-3, part of the interior is black from the smoke, but it seemed like nothing was damaged at all except the panel under which the wires were located
got my 2010 93 ttid from these guys last year and i love it ...have had zero issues with it , bought it blind as theres no way someone so passionate about Saabs was going to rip you off... want a 2010/11 95 ttid next please
Enjoyed that. Go for the full resto and stick some serious miles on her.
Seeing Saab content always makes me smile.
Had to sell my 9-5 wagon back when fuel prices went up, and I've been regretting it ever since
Jack as lead presenter is Great. Really taken that role as shown in the video 👏👏
Yes please keep the Saab alive! Brilliant seeing Jack being a great presenter too
these look so cool, I just wish they were RWD, same goes for 159's. I understand the financial reasons but I can't help thinking, what if these were RWD...
Check out Jonas Kakarikas, he's turning a 9-5 into rwd ruclips.net/video/Cj8actRHQjs/видео.html
That 4wd Saab they saw in the yard of this video I would love to see restored and turbo'ed to hell and back
@@tbrowniscool Also FWD is safer in winter.
Love that car! That garage is amazing and I’m so jealous. Nothing like that here in the states.
I would love to see this car in mint condition again and then maybe a scandinavian roadtrip?
As a Swede, it would be lovley to see this Saab get the same treatment as miles. Make it look brand new again, please CT ❤️
where is Saab now, whats happend? i need to know :)
Bankruptcy
I had a 93 wagon a few years ago. It was the V6 Turbo Aero with all the Hirsch performance bits fitted from
factory. I loved it, and miss it.
