    The king of stage pianos! You guys should have paired it up with a better stand though - this big boy is too heavy for a flimsy x-stand, and really needs something like a table stand to be 100% rock solid.

    Great demo! Kudos on being able to play on such a rickety platform. Is it just me, or does no one build a stable keyboard stand anymore? Someone needs to demo the MP11SE on a stand that doesn’t wobble. They’d sell oodles of them…

    I got into playing for about a year or so.... bought myself a yamaha psr 363, to see if I like playing, and if keep liking it.... my girlfriend who can play piano very well, has a upright piano....after a while I made up my mind for something better the coming years.... a upright piano is too heavy, and I like more sounds with the same piano experience, as an acoustic one.....to make it short.... for someone who wants a piano like experience, and making progress for the coming years ,and doesnt wants to be limited with a cheaper keyboard.... go for it! .... its a great piano for at home to substitute an acoustic one....love my kawai mp11se

    76lbs = 35Kg! WOW!
    I'm installing cedarwood sleepers into our garden as a border and each sleeper is 35Kg. So I can certainly get a feel just how heavy the MP11SE really is.
    I suppose the weight is concentrated in a short length, compared to each of the long sleepers at 2.4m each and therefore easier to maul about compared to a stonking piece of lumber (wood).

    Does anyone have thoughts on choosing between the MP11SE and a comparable price-point digital like the CA-49/59? Main questions; is the old gen Grand Touch on the MP still preferable to the newer Grand Feel Compact on the CA 49/59? And is the sound quality here noticeably better than on the 49/59? I'm torn cause in the uprights it seems like you have to jump all the way up to the CA79 to improve touch/sound, which at $4000US is too much for me. I could swing the extra 500$ for the MP though if it's gonna give me a noticeable jump in feel and sound. I don't really care about the electric/stage piano features, as I'm going to be using this as an acoustic-replacement in my apartment

    • @E.Bernay
      @E.Bernay 8 месяцев назад

      For a lot of pianists the mp11se remains the best kawai in terms of Key action At a certain level it is difficult to "do better" but rather just propose different actions which lead to different pianos. This is the case with the Yamaha 515 and the 525, the 525 is more recent but many prefer the Key action of the 51. So objectively if it only comes down to the action of the keys you just have to test by feeling because in all cases these are pianos that touch excellence. It's at the level of sound and functionality that things really change in terms of quality

    I've noticed a few of these videos and I've not seen any keyboard rocking around more than this one. Quite heavy, but I'm wondering if the stand is sitting well on the floor flat or if it's just way too heavy for any X stand. I have on-stage's heaviest X stand but I'm worried if it can even handle it. It looks like it might need a Z stand.

    • @omedome2787

    Thank you for the review, although it is significantly late. ) I hope that when the successor to this model is released next year, you won't have to wait a few years before reviewing it. ) By the way, for the very reason that the successor will be presented next year, I believe that today it is not too far-sighted to buy this model. Especially taking into account the well-known slip tape problem of GF-family keyboards. This issue is resolved in the new GFIII keyboard, which is likely to be used in the MP11SE successor.
    -
    And, as already noted here in the comments, it is quite painful to look at this model mounted on a squalid X-shaped stand. )
    -
    I really like the unique design of the MP11/SE. And it is really unique at least in that part of it that imitates the open lid of an acoustic grand piano behind the keys (the so-called "fallboard"). This design element is important not only from an aesthetic point of view, but also from a practical point of view, as it helps to maintain the correct technique, without letting your fingers go too deep behind the keys. This design element is absent even in most digital pianos in traditional cabinets, as they have various gaps in that area, including due to the hidden sliding keyboard lid. Therefore, there is no monolithic "wall" behind the keys. Hopefully Kawai will never give up on this design element at least in the MP series.
    -
    But I don't like Kawai's very weird approach to the color of the felt strip behind the keys. In the vast majority of acoustic grand pianos, including Kawai, this stripe is red. But for some reason, Kawai uses an unpresentable dark gray color in its stage, portable, and most pianos in traditional cabinets for this stripe. Ugh! Even NV10 has this abomination. But in the VPC1 this strip is red, which looks very nice and familiar. So what's the problem with the other models? Or do they have a new mediocre designer who doesn't know what acoustic grand pianos look like? And Roland and Yamaha are right in this matter, using red felt strip.

    • @Oleg__

      There are many people who prefer slab formfactor (stage or portable) even at home. Even if it doesn't need to be moved anywhere. And while the MP11SE is the heaviest stage piano, it is still significantly lighter than most digital pianos in a traditional body.

      @@Oleg__ So... I don't quite understand why would that preclude it from being used as a stage piano? What am I missing here?

    • @Oleg__
      @Oleg__ 3 года назад +2

      @@michebre But do you know what a MIDI controller is? Because those who know this usually do not have such a question. Using a MIDI controller assumes a different usage scenario, a different environment. More questions about reliability arise as more links appear in the chain, etc. I practically don't know a single famous musician who would use a "naked" MIDI controller on stage. And at home, not every user wants to connect a suitable computer, install VST, DAW, etc. on it, buy an audio interface, cables, be able to configure it all with hardware and software, etc. Therefore, there are separate categories: stage pianos and MIDI controllers. I once considered the idea with VPC1, but then I abandoned it, because I realized that I do not like this concept, I prefer stage pianos.

You didn't list which piano sounds you were even using! Sk or ex? What an epic fail. Moving onto another channel where they list, or at least say which sound they are using. You really need to up your game at presenting to make it fun and more immersive. 👍
