Let's make it happen in other uses beyond post production. "I just proxified my life and got divorced. Cut out the dead weight. Things are running much smoother now. "
Ho. Ly. Crap. You literally saved my work with this. We're editing a multiepisode docu series, and this is my first time with RED footage. I honestly thought the camera guy had made a mistake when sending me the footage. Thank you thank you thank you!!
OMG thank you so much for this. I just got a ton of RED footage for the first time from a client and I was losing my mind trying to figure out what was up with all of the duplicates and the folders within folders etc. This helped me so much 👍
Im editing a senior student short film in college and this video saved my life! Have never worked with R3D footage before and I feel like this helped get me a smooth workflow from the get-go... thank you for saving this noob!
I was about 2 cry when I saw my edited files turn red...u saved my approx 8-10 hrs of editing time..thanks a ton...u saved my life...I would like to add one point...when I was trying to locate and upload the files back...it threw error'this file doesn't has audio or video stream' answer of which I found in a different video,in which they download quicktime and delete cache in preferences...followed by a restart of P pro...doing all that, will import the media back in premier.
Dude... thank you. That is all. Saved me tons of time editing. I knew I wasn't doing it right! Matter of fact I will start importing footage with media browser moving forward!
what a great video. It's the first time I run into your channel and just based on this video and your personality. I'm subscribing and following from now on. Thanks a lot man.
You are a LEGEND!!! Thank youI have been struggling to find a video describing these steps especially how to import correctly. I was totally doing what you said NOT to do! lol
@@JavierMercedes Do you have any videos on different export settings? Currently I am exporting H.264 Match high bitrate. Is this correct? I create the sequence from the clip so I assume exporting to match the clip is best?
Ashley Pugh Hey Ashley, not for the “best” settings per say but I a video on compressing videos in the h.264 format that you might get some info from ruclips.net/video/3NrxUsWBjg4/видео.html
Really useful stuff man, thanks very much - I'm an aspiring editor myself and I've just started a new short film which is requiring me to work with R3D footage for the first time, so this tutorial was pretty much a godsend. Much appreciated!
@@JavierMercedes I found using REDCINE-X Professional for proxy files is more flexible for editing. Because I use Davinci Resolve for color grading at the last step of post. Anyway that was informative tutorial. Thanks!
I wish I would have saw this video an hour ago before I deleted all the "duplicate" R3D files!! When I pulled them into PP the normal way they were all the same so I just deleted them. Hopefully I can recover them from my Trash! Thanks for the tips!
Quality tutorial, thanks! I had never dealt with .r3d footage before and this explained it so well. Only problem is my footage still shows all the parts, not just _001's in the Media Browser and I do not get the RED footage icon in the file list view.
Thanks for this video, I'm working with RED footage for the first time and I've noticed that the coloring between the RED and proxy files is different. I'm going to be working with a lot of visual effects so I'd like to figure out why the color is different between the two before I get too deep into it.
Actually nevermind, I figured it out right after leaving the comment. But just in case anyone else is having this problem, my cinematographer attached a LUT to the RED footage that just needed to be toggled off.
Thanks a lot mate. ONE MORE THING. What to do when after creating proxies I want to leave all the RAW file on a portable hard drive and go away with all the proxy file on my MacBook Pro and after editing the project with proxy files I want to get back with that proxies to export from that RAW file? How do I attach the proxies with the RAW file?
Hey Javier, thanks so much for your videos.. really appreciate them. Question please - have you ever had any issues importing R3 footage? For some reason my Premiere only imports the first 4gb file.. unsure why it's not unifying the subsequent files. Please help?
So my house mate uses the latest Adobe CC suite while I'm on ooooooold version and it turns out I can import Red footage and get the F*cking 3D FX shots done when he's asleep and I don't know his login etc. Cheers man, we are talking again! :D
Hey Javier thank you for the video! I used to do the same thing deleting duplicates. I found this video though search for some info on how to ingest Red footage that already has ProRes proxies created while filming. Is there an easy way to attach them within premiere? Thanks!
Thanks so much for this! I was wondering... My footage is on an external hard drive, should I be saving the proxy to the hard drive or my project folder on my computer? If I save it to my computer can I edit without connecting my hard drive?
if they are on your computer then yes you can edit without the hard drive, you would need to reconnect the full resolution files before exporting though
Let's make the term "Proxify" happen. Meaning creating proxies. How many of you have worked with RED or R3D footage before.
Daily. Your video saved my life.
Let's make it happen in other uses beyond post production. "I just proxified my life and got divorced. Cut out the dead weight. Things are running much smoother now. "
How do I make a watermarked Proxy?
Thank you.. your video was an amazing help
Once the RedFiles are done in Encoder...where do they go? You went straight back to Premier but I dont see them there?
This is the video I needed 2 years ago when I started shooting r3d. Literally SO helpful and so plainly / perfectly explained

Thank you so much, but how do I sync those "RED VIDEO files with Plural Eyes 3???"
Hey Javier, thanks so much for your videos.. really appreciate them. Question please - have you ever had any issues importing R3 footage? For some reason my Premiere only imports the first 4gb file.. unsure why it's not unifying the subsequent files. Please help?
best luck!
saved me so much time and headaches, thanks for this!! #MEDIABROWSER
thanks!
yepp just went through and deleted all the "duplicates" from my hard drive since they showed up in Premiere as the same clip. *sighhh*
So my house mate uses the latest Adobe CC suite while I'm on ooooooold version and it turns out I can import Red footage and get the F*cking 3D FX shots done when he's asleep and I don't know his login etc. Cheers man, we are talking again! :D
Wow!!! Thanks for that duplicate file hang up. I noticed the same with my Sony FS100.
