    Best bang for buck motherboard for the x570\AM4 platform. Great VRM. Limited IO and bells and whistles, But, if you do not need them, this board will handle the 3000 and 4000 series AMD processors. I bought the X570 TUF Gaming for $140usd on Black Friday for the additional IO\features. Same VRM as the E and Pro and P.

    • @tonkatoytruck
      @tonkatoytruck 4 года назад +1

      @@mangaas Just depends on your budget and what you can find these boards priced for. The TUF is usually the better deal. No need to flash the bios and it will work with 4.0. 4.0 has a high cost to performance ratio still so I would stick with 3.0 until prices get better.

    I run this Board with a Ryzen 7 2700X it is a good Board still for the price (which has come down) but be aware that the M.2_2 slot (the one under the "Heatsink") runs 10c hotter than the M.2_1 slot (near the CPU). The Chipset cooling fan actually blows hot air onto the M.2 SSD due to the cowling design and my WD Black SN750 is 52c at idle, and over 70c under load. The Heatsink and thermal pad supplied with the Board are totally ineffectual. You need at least a proper high-performance heatsink - as long as you have no plans to use the second PCIe slot for a graphics card which would require the space. I am attacking the problem with an M.2 to PCIe Riser with a PCIe to M.2 Card installed that - which is a round-about way of lifting the M.2 up away from the chipset, and yes an M.2 heatsink too. Awaiting testing.

    • @gianlucapx
      @gianlucapx Год назад

      So, what was the result of your solution? It seem that with a bit of modding the plastic heatsink can be modified to avoid throwing hot air in the nvme direction. First of all using a piece of tape to cover the side of the bottom part of it, the one opened in the nvme direction. And then, eventually, cutting the side plastic in the direction where we think that the air flow can go without causing trouble. Just guessing here: the video don't show how the heatsink is designed all around. But I'd have tried the tape solution, before buying something.

    This feels like an unboxing video. Just reading from the marketing sheet. I don't even get the impression that you turned it on. The linked article is a bit better. You did miss that the board does not have BIOS Flashback. Other than that it's pretty complete besides the Wifi.
    Lots of people don't need wifi, or add it with USB or expansion cards later. But no BIOS Flashback in a board that costs this much is kind of silly. B550 boards in their own lineup that are $100 cheaper have it. Why not this one? Maybe just an earlier model before they started moving the Flashback feature down the stack? Anyways still a solid board.

    I haven't changed anything on the RGB's so far, i.e. everything is still on the standard setting and they only change their color permanently.
    I would be interested to know if this is the case for others as well. Could you test this for yourself? :-)

    Lots of slots which is great, but that top x1 slot is *guaranteed* to be blocked by your vid-card's heatsink/fan, rendering it totally useless. And no jumper to reset the BIOS (just RTC) if you screw something up? That's just nuts! What a shame. Looked like a great board. :(

    • @gianlucapx
      @gianlucapx Год назад

      There is the jumper, on the bottom right side of the board, next to the Sata ports. But doesn't have the plastic bridge and people have to use the screwdriver or a piece of metal. I guess Asus didn't want to go too modern with this motherboard. :)
      In the top right side corner instead, there are the leds that helps to identify the problems at the PC boot.
      The only thing missing here is the dual bios switch, but looks like Asus allows to recovery a corrupted bios via usb flashdrive (CrashFree BIOS 3).
      So the board seems pretty nice. It passed some time from the release, but can be a powerful and complete motherboard for the people who want to build a Ryzen 9 3/5000 system. Like me. :)

      @markhughes358 4 года назад

      Actually, while both M.2 slots are Gen 4 (PCIe 4.0), the heat sink slot on this board has an extra chip (a PCH lane)...which is necessarily slower than a direct PCIe 4.0 connection. I've run fast(est) and not-as-fast SSDs in these slots, and the lower slot is definitely the slower of the two. But don't take my word for it -- you can validate this for yourself via: www.userbenchmark.com/
      Also, while heat sinks in general may be good for the M.2 NVMe *controllers* on the stick...they are not good for the memory itself. Counter-intuitively, the SSD's actual memory chips prefer to run hot. Ref: See Gamers Nexus on this SSD heatsink topic, which consulted an expert in the process (min. 6:15 here): ruclips.net/video/KzSIfxHppPY/видео.html

First is this motherboard compatible to attach ssd if so where? Second those pins up in the corner in between the heat sinks, what are those for? I don't have all the parts to the computer yet and my PSU just came in the mail. I see they have the same shapes but it won't fit. I chalk it up as my fingers are fat due the pc case i have gives me barely working room and Texas heat lowered my patience. I'll be greatly much obliged for your wisdom given to me thank you.

    I'm deciding between this motherboard and the MSI X570 Unify. I'm a photographer and a videographer. Thus, I'm going to be using it for alot of photo and 4K video editing. I will be running the Ryzen 3900X. I know a few of the differences is that this board has 2 M.2 slots, 6 PCIe slots, and some parts are made from plastic. Whereas the MSI Unify is all metal with 3 M.2 slots, 5 PCIe slots, has a indecator to let you know when something goes wrong, and has a great VRM and is $50 more. Would anybody know which one would be better for my work flow? Thanks.

    • @Slimmeyy
      @Slimmeyy 4 года назад

      Depends on what kind of storage you use. PCIe x4 SSDs are faster, but more expensive. If I were to guess, you'll probably be using M.2 instead of PCIe x4 storage. The Unify has 1 more M.2 slot, so you'd be able to get 1 more SSD than with the X570-Pro. Something I will point out: the Pro has 2 more SATA ports than the Unify, which means more bulk storage (SATA SSDs are cheaper and have a higher capacity, but are slower). For even higher capacity you could add disk drives, but these are pretty darn slow compared to even SATA SSDs so I would only recommend using them for storing finished projects.
      The VRM, material and BIOS codes aren't a necessity for your type of work. The VRMs on the Pro should be able to handle an R9 3950X just fine (haven't watched/read stress test reviews though, you can look some up to make sure), and the material of the IO and chipset shroud has barely any noticeable impact on performance. The BIOS codes are the only thing that I would consider a real advantage for the Unify (but not something that should make you buy it over the Pro). It makes troubleshooting quite a bit easier, but apart from the first startup you won't be using it much at all (at least in my experience).
      A different option that could be interesting: The Gigabyte B550 Vision D. It's aimed at creators and looks pretty snazzy in my opinion.

This connector is used to supply additional 12V current to the motherboard. While the system will likely still run without it, higher current demands such as extreme overclocking or large video card current draws may require it. You should be fine without that 4-pin connected, even with a pretty powerful CPU. You could probably get an 8-pin to 4+4-pin cable and use 1 of those connectors. There shouldn't be any issues with clearance, if the 8-pin can make it, the 4-pin can make it.
