    i’m here because of two reasons:
    1. i hate struggling to understand a vlive when it comes out and waiting for subtitles
    2. i really like the language and im genuinely interested in learning it

    People think its to hard to learn Korean or any other language,
    It's because they say that its to hard remember it.
    I'm still learning it so i cant say its not hard because it is, But i have faith that if i study every day it will get easier.
    So if i can do we all can,
    just think of how awesome it will be when your able to speak it and spell it
    so make it fun to learn a language then it will get better.

      I know it's been over a month since you posted this, so you probably have Hangeul down by now, but... I use an app called TenguGo Hangeul. it's amazing, free, and really helpful. I pair it with a notebook and practice a little every day. I check how much time it takes me to read and write all the letters and then try to do it faster. I'm still reading like a 7 year old, very slowly, but I've memorized Hangeul entirely! :)

  • @RakiyahInSpace

    I started here at these very first videos....and I've come so far in my Korean studies. Made amazing Korean friends using language exchange resources I found, and came across some great books to study with. My reading and writing has become exceptionally good too! I was having a tough time at one point, and still do, but i found my motivation to keep going, and thought of cool and fun studying tricks so I wouldn't feel overloaded. Learning Korean is very different for me, and it's not the norm in my community. So I'm even more eager to stand out! If you love Korean culture and language, go for it!! Find an ACTUAL interest other than kdamas and kpop, and you'll see yourself going far in your studies! Good luck everyone!

    • @s0urdust
      @s0urdust 5 лет назад +4

      Please understand that it is okay to learn Korean because of K-pop and K-dramas. In fact, these amazing communities are now encouraged to learn a new language. Please don't put them down by saying it isn't a real hobby or that they shouldn't learn Korean because thier inspiration is different. That is just rude. I hope you understand my reasoning.
      P.S: it is great that you learned Korean and made friends too! And for standing out. That is good and brave of you. And I wish to you a great day. Thank you for reading this!

It says the vowels and consonants for you to hear. It also shows you the correct stroke order & also goes over the double consonants and compounds. It's really helpful! Now I can start writing vocabulary and work my way up now. 화이팅 !!!

    I know how to read and to write but when my oppas are saying something, I was like, "Oppa, I love you very much but what the fuck are you saying?" basically, my only problem in learning the korean language is that I suck at memorizing so when I try to memorize the words, the next day I forget them, and I am back to almost zero. HEOL.

    I feel like what's helped me learn Korean is and app that would give me things to learn and memorize, but I still don't know how to pronounce things so this is where RUclips videos come in very handy. I think that for me it was much easier to learn the basics because everything she's said I understand. And I'm the type of learner that gives up easily at any hard task. So the fact that I can understand her makes me want to continue learning.

    • @BeatsByPento

      The consonant ㅇ means nothing, so whatever is followed by it is the first sound
      So ㅏ, which sounds like ah combined makes 아, as the ㅇ makes no sound it's just ah for the ㅏ vowel. Hope you understand now

      I believe you can't find vowels alone, so the purpose of the mute consonant is to be able to have vowels alone basically.

    • @Ekkake
      @Ekkake 10 лет назад +7

      Jovic Abengona It's like any other language, when you say the "n" consonant in english, you don't say it alone, you say like "en", because it's harder to say only the consonant.

    I believe that consonants are always paired with a vowel (because you write syllables) so it's good to get into practice writing something after a consonant. Also, if she just wrote the consonant components, the sound wouldn't be pronounceable. Writing "ah" at the end has the added bonus of additional repetition of how the consonants are pronounced.
    Note: I'm just starting to learn Korean, so I may be wrong.

    I thought you're supposed to write it left to right, top to bottom?

    • @daemon4683
      @daemon4683 9 лет назад +4

      You do write left to right grammar wise, but in the block (or syllable) itself, it depends on how you want to pronounce it.
      Example:
      Bee = 비 //left to right
      Boo = 브 //top to bottom (but will transition to the next right block)
      As you can see, each "block" contains the consonant "b" (ㅂ), but also has the vowel "ee" (ㅣ) in bee, and in boo, "oo" (ㅡ).

    Very interesting that you addressed the issue of writing the "m" sound in "ma." When I took Korean in college, my professor was a young Korean woman straight from Korea and told us the order of the "brushstrokes" when we write. I was a little thrown off when you were writing them, lol! This is great review even though I already know how to write these.
    Also, very funny that you including the old grandma. I think my mother agrees with her when she says you must write it a specific way! lol

    So the circles on top of the vowels don't have to be there or they do?

      +Victor Gomes Oh, I realized that since then. I have another question though, if you don't mind. When you have the circle for ng in its natural form, people say its silent, but I hear it pronounced a lot, so is it silent or not?

      The "T" one (that looks like a capital E) sounds like T (tah). The "D" one (that looks like a square C) has a sound that's like halfway between D & T. The double "D" will have the traditional D sound (dah), but that will come up in a later video. Once you realize it's a sound in between D & T, all the consonats that seem the same will make more sense. Hope this is helpful!

  • @thesmartblonde95
    @thesmartblonde95 11 лет назад

    Ok, I was curious about this too & actually looked it up. It has to do with the fact that Koreans were using paint/brushes to write when Hangul was created and they were using Chinese-style calligraphy. Because of how the paint and brushes work when writing, you had to take longer ways of writing to make it look neat. Many people nowadays make a box, because they develop their own style, just like people develop their own style of writing letters in the Latin alphabet. Hope that makes sense. :)

    If it's the first consonant in the syllable such as "라" (ra), pronounce it with the R sound. But if it's at the end of a consonant, or there's two at the end and beginning of the different syllables, pronounce it "L". "잘" is pronounced "jal" and "몰라" is pronounced "molla".
