Being a Retired Indian American Immigrant US Citizen worked on Board the Cruise Ships & Oil Rigs. It breaks my heart to see the 20 Indian Crew Members along with the Master still aboard in the ill Fated container vessel Dali is Sad. Especially not able to communicate with families back in India. God willing, praying & look forward for them to be ease at the earliest. I wish them safety and robust health at Such a Time as This. To God be the Glory.
The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

We are all very sympathetic to the relatives and friends of those who lost their lives on the bridge. However, had that ship sailed out into a raging sea, the chances are , with the state of the generators, that ship may have been a total loss. Crew and all. These flag of convenience ships are considered dangerous and the Dali was banned from Australian ports not long before the bridge disaster because of safety issues. I was told an American ship under another flag spent $500K in repairs before they could sail it to a scrapyard. This situation has been for a long time. Those responsible must be brought to account and unfortunately it takes something like this before authorities act.

It was not a raging sea. So far the NTSB has not released their report. This is just as likely a fuel issue as anything. There has been numerous incidents with bad fuel lately. Even good fuel can cause issues with the newer issues. I am not sure why that issue isn’t being handled by the world shipping firms.

@@jasonswift7098 Dolphins were in place. There are 4 of them. Problem is, like many locations, their placement did not take into account a ship getting between them and a bridge pier. In my area the SF Bay Bridge was struck by a similar sized ship and the ship's side ripped open from the pier fenders.

One of the channels I’ve been watching said the span resting on the port side is more like 4-5000 tons. The 4 lane interstate resting across the bow is estimated at 5000 ton. So it will be interesting to see how much the ship rises up once the span is demolished

If I'm wrong , I'll come right back here and own it.
But until then, my "personal" opinion is it was . How would you let a giant cargo ship that heavy go out for sale when they had multiple power outages hours before they even left. And then that happened. They still let him go. And all of our Port services stopped. All that money lost, the families that lost their family members, could have been way more and I'm thankful that it wasn't way more but it's still sad. But how could you let that go. It's still intentional in my eyes because they knew something was wrong with the ship before they let it go. It went anyway and cut out a lot of money from Baltimore. And the rest of the world.
