    I just did the comp stall springs in my built 420/500 rancher and I found that a tire reamer tool, the ones that come in the tire plug kits worked well for getting the springs in. And I agree, needle nose pliers are not the best tool for getting the springs installed. Lol

    I have the economy kit in my 420. I think they give you just enough power to the ground to get you out of that thick stuff, but not so aggressive as to compromise your trail riding experience.

  • @Yellowdogsworld
    @Yellowdogsworld  11 лет назад +1

    A good friend of ours helped Justin build the axle paddles, its a one off build. If your looking to build something similar I recommend showing this video to someone with a little bit of fabrication experience. With a little bit of imagination their not hard to create.

  • @Yellowdogsworld
    @Yellowdogsworld  11 лет назад +1

    Yes, there is a noticeable "launch" when going from a stop, this Jump in power to the wheels will break loose tires that may not otherwise get going in peanut butter mud. Keep in mind this is a very aggressive Kit, they make one about half the stall. I have the EPI Economy in my 420 that may be all you need unless your going for an all out mud machine.

  • @Yellowdogsworld
    @Yellowdogsworld  11 лет назад +2

    Your right about the competition stall, its for mud machines only. if trail riding is what you primarily do I wouldn't go with it. Freight Train and a buddy of ours built the axle paddles, the are tough :)

    first video i’ve seen of installation on one of these clutch kit, i have an ‘18 rancher 420 4x4 and i wanna run 29.5 outlaw 2 but don’t want to spend on a gear reduction would i need a competition series or economy?

    • @Yellowdogsworld
      @Yellowdogsworld  4 года назад

      If your planing on running anywhere besides a mud drag, like trail riding. I would probably go with the economy. The competition clutch "stalls" or waits until your RPMs are up quite a bit before engaging, at that point it hits harder but is hard to control if all you want to do is creep around. that's my opinion anyway

    • @Yellowdogsworld
      @Yellowdogsworld  9 лет назад

      +Ruben Rodriguez
      I went with the EPI Economy kit on my 420 (28in outlaw MST skinny wide's) and had no issues getting them turning again. The Economy kit would do you just fine and not compromise on the ride quality at all. The Competition Stall kit is really only for someone who wants to go all out mud.

    I have a 07 foreman I have 28 inch silver backs will that kit help it spin them in the mud good I ride trails and road a lot to will be ok? Great video

    • @Yellowdogsworld
      @Yellowdogsworld  10 лет назад

      I put the moderate kit in my 08 Rancher it has 28 in wide outlaw MST's. Before I had trouble getting the wheels turning once it stopped, after not so much. Although we did put the Comp stall kit in this one they make one that's less aggressive and more friendly to trail riding, that would be all you need. It lets you build up a little more power before putting it to the wheels.. a lot of times that all you need to get it moving again.

  • @Yellowdogsworld
    @Yellowdogsworld  11 лет назад +1

    they are the same as the EPI springs, you should be fine with them.

    I'm having issues on my 2015 honda 500 fm7 Rubicon. It seems to jump when I shift. It has an adjustable clutch adjuster. Foot shift only.. when I press down on the shifter from a higher gear to a lower gear I am able to still accelerate while holding down the shifter or holding the shifter up.. would it be my clutch pads are worn?? I also ran camso t4s tracks for the first time last winter. Stock tires always before that

    2” high lifter lift and shock spacers? Any wheel spacers? Or stretch?

    • @Yellowdogsworld
      @Yellowdogsworld  4 года назад +1

      At the time it had the 2 in HL lift kits front and rear, no wheel spacers however the way he made the axle paddles on the rear was a cylinder welled to a plate drilled out to fit the hubs then bolted on.. this way the paddles could be removed if needed, and no frame stretching.

      Yellowdog02 how did it do on the hard ground?

    • @Yellowdogsworld
      @Yellowdogsworld  9 лет назад

      Anthony Lively The best way I could describe the Comp stall kit is like having 3500 RPM stall torque converter in a dragster. Putting around your yard your going to notice the engine has to build up some rpm's before it starts moving. hotroding it around you'er not going to notice it as much. For the average guy, and not a serious mudder, they do make a level below the one we installed.... its the one I put in my rancher. For me I preferred that one over the one we installed in Justin's machine. Both are great mods, its really up to user preference.

  • @1boehm
    @1boehm 8 лет назад

    how did you hold the main clutch to remove that lock nut? i dont want to spend the money on the tool lol

    • @Yellowdogsworld
      @Yellowdogsworld  8 лет назад +1

      +1boehm
      Well in our case we didn't remove the clutch basket, so there was no need to remove the nut... and no need for the removal tool. I've done this job on 420's and foreman's both without removal of the basket. Only trick with doing it on the machine is making sure you don't drop anything in the engine, " This is why I cover the engine with shop rags" but standing it up sure makes it easier to get to.

      @@Yellowdogsworld do these springs cause reliability issues ??

  • @colewilson5745
    @colewilson5745 8 лет назад

    is the foreman and rancher clutch fairly similar. This is the only video on RUclips of it bein done on a Honda close to what I have. 2007 Honda rancher 420 4x4

    • @Yellowdogsworld
      @Yellowdogsworld  8 лет назад

      I had an 08 4x4 Rancher I did the same thing too, its very similar, except the rancher had 4 springs instead of 6. You need to remove the front drive shaft since the final drive shaft comes out thru the cover you need to remove to gain access to the clutch basket. All in all its the same operation, just keep track of your parts and pay close attention to what came off and where, you should be fine.

    • @colewilson5745
      @colewilson5745 8 лет назад

      any special tool that you need to do this and once every comes off and your putting it back on is there any kind of special torque to the bolts or just snug so they wont fall off.

    • @Yellowdogsworld
      @Yellowdogsworld  8 лет назад

      If you have the means to do so, torquing the front cover bolts is a good idea, in my case I snugged them down. However based on the torque specs I went by when I did my big red gear reduction on my Rincon, they are probably around 80 - 85 inch pounds, (NOT FOOT POUNDS) I didn't use any special tools on mine, unless your going to remove the clutch basket, you don't need a puller "AKA" Special tool. The rest is just nuts bolts, a good mechanics pick, some channel lock pliers and a little bit a patients and attention to details.

    Do you recommend the economy or the competition

    • @Yellowdogsworld
      @Yellowdogsworld  5 месяцев назад

      If you plan to do trial riding at all, I’d stick with the economy.. the competition is really intended for mud bogs and the wide open throttle ridding.. creeping through trails or using your machine for work related stuff, the comp is too aggressive.

    • @briankent1922
      @briankent1922 5 месяцев назад

      Is there a noticeable difference between the economy and the stock, is it with doing a economy kit?

    • @Yellowdogsworld
      @Yellowdogsworld  5 месяцев назад

      I did the Econ on my 420, I could notice a difference, it takes 3 to 4 hundred more rpm’s to get rolling.. not the best when trying to spray round up on your property, however having run extra umph to get the wheels Turing in thick mud… made a difference.

    Yellowdog02 i have a question since im trying to get a cluch kit for my honda rancher 350 do I need to buy just the springs or the springs and the rings as sold on the epi website?

    • @Yellowdogsworld
      @Yellowdogsworld  8 лет назад

      The 350 I'm not entirely sure what you (Really need) but I would opt to go with the more complete kit. Their has to be reason the kit comes with the additional parts and the cost savings on just the springs cant be worth going back into the ATV a second time if you find you need the extra parts as well.

      Its possible, since that washer is a thrush washer for the end play from the crank shaft "I believe anyway". No more difficult than it is to verify, It would be worth your time to check, or have a reputable mechanic listen to your noise first.
