Using moving averages to determine optimum trading conditions. One of the biggest challenge we have as traders is to determine good trading conditions. Now this is subjective in itself because what is optimal for one trader may not work for another. For me good conditions is decent market volatility. Someone else might prefer a chugging trend...One thing we can do is to look at moving average; perhaps one slow one and another faster moving average. You can then look at times like the number of times the moving averages are crossing each other.
Key Factors for Assessment: Divergence, Crossings, and Price Displacement
The video discusses using moving averages to determine optimal trading conditions.
Mark emphasizes the subjective nature of good trading conditions and the need for tools to provide definite answers.
The use of two moving averages (fast and slow) is suggested to analyze market conditions.
Factors to consider include the divergence between moving averages, the frequency of crossings, and the distance between price and the moving averages.
Mark also mentions the potential use of Bollinger Bands to further analyze market volatility.

Excellent tip! I use them the other way around - on multiple time frames - to filter out choppy conditions for my scalping.
You also measure the strenght of the trend by measuring the distance between the two EMA (the wider, the stronger the trend), market distance from the slow EMA (to measure overextention and avoid buying before a pullback), etc etc. You can code an indicator to detect a momentum bar (big bar with min wick % and no topping/bottoming tail), etc.
Nothing the naked eye cannot see, but if you are a purely mechanical trader like me it helps loads to see all your conditions in less than a second.
In fact, I coded an indicator that simply plots all my various indicator values on the chart in rows of text; when all of them are green I buy, when all of them turn red I sell, and when mixed I do nothing. But in the end, it all starts with movering average and price!
