  • This is my second video explaining how you can treat your bees with liquid formic acid. This time, the treatment is applied on top of the brood boxes instead of underneath.
    Please read the instructions on your label for safety measures and the quantity to use. Formic Acid can be obtained through your beekeeping supply store if it is an approved treatment where you live.
    Thank you for watching!

    Hey thanks for this, do You know if this method is less hard on the bees than the formic pro strips? I am hoping to create a less powerful version so I don’t lose so many bees

    Hi G can you tell me how you arrived at the amount per hive other BK are using 35 mil per bag 2 bags per double. Is this trial and error or calculated

    What is the lowest temperature that formic can be used? Is it still the 5 day treatment period.? Enjoy your videos over and over. Ron

      Usually people do this treatment three consecutive time for every 5~7days. And the lowest temperature for this way is considered 15C. Just replied for help, not the uploader though.

    Can you pour acid for subsequent treatments onto existing baggie or do you use new baggie with shop towel?

    • @allenrosa3486
      @allenrosa3486 3 месяца назад

      I would use new towel because reusing the old one won’t be as absorbent. They’re cheap towels just go new

    • @allenrosa3486

      I honestly would use something more absorbent like a Swedish towel or something of that nature but for formic it probably wouldn’t matter as much as say “a glycerin oxcilic” recipe

    Hello. I'm so tempted to try your method. Seems so simple and easy since you can treat with honey supers on. But, i've read in a few places that often the colony will requeen after formic acid treatment. Any comments?

    Purchase industrial strength Formic Acid (95%). Set up the equation initial concentration multiplied by initial volume equals final concentration multiplied by final volume. For 95% starting strength it looks like 95% x 100ml = 65% x Xml. Solve algebraically for Xml.

    Do you skip days between treatments?

      I usually wait 5 days and repeat the treatment 3 times. Thank you for watching :)
