      Bud believe me nobody, absolutely nobody has ever underrated Andy petree when it has anything to do with a race car. Everybody in that garage including Gary Nelson, dale earnhardt, Harry gant, Richard childress, etc has known Andy is a genius when it comes to anything to do with a race car, team or strategy, maybe that's why currently he runs Richard childress racing. Lol. Underrated. LMAO

      @@jcearnhardt393 ... I’ve known of his genius since the Gant era, but his name is somehow never mentioned among the “Titans” of the sport, like “Suitcase” Jake, Leonard Wood, Waddell Wilson, Chad Knaus, Ray Evernham, Fennig, Grubb...hell, even Letarte and Gustafson get more public mentions than AP!
      And a front office position at RCR like Vice President of Competition is nice, but to me, he should be in NASCAR’s front office, and in the Hall of Fame.

    • @jcearnhardt393
      @jcearnhardt393 3 года назад +1

      @@twoblacklabs904 my friend you mentioned some "heavy hitters" except for letarte and Gustafson which has no business in the conversion at all. Sounds like to me you been a fan along time like myself. Knowing this we both know andy was the one who really " up the game" so to speak " with bending the rules as far as trying new things which really isn't cheating because there is no rule on it which knaus became a master of and put more rules in book then all crew chiefs together. But you are correct andy should be in the hof. His innovations on them cars, the way he resigned the way the pit the cars is still the way it's done today. At RCR they thave a system during the race that tells them the best strategy at the time of the race(, 2 tire, 4 tires, pit don't pit etc) which is very advanced even compared to gibbs, Hendrick. Haas teams. That is all andy petree design . That guy is a absolute genius, he just happens to work on race cars instead of rockets. Computers or people.

    I worked at Hickory speedway as official in 03. Andy showed up one night with Paul Menard in tow and Andy's late model. I wasn't working late models but when they were lining up on grid, I got a radio call to go to the tech shed and not let Paul drive through it. That's all I knew at that point. So I stopped Paul and he called me over to the side of the car to ask why he was DQed. The race was going by then and I couldn't quite hear what he said so as soon as I got out from in front of the car, Paul zipped right by me to his pit. Left me standing there like a dope. The rest of the story is that Andy brought his own RR tire and it was caught by the late model inspector on the grid. Glory days.
