The thing that I love about Caricatures, is that no matter how exaggerated the features are, the faces are immediately recognizable.
That’s the beauty of caricature
I learned caricature by drawing my teachers during Their class.
Lol
Same with me accept I stare at my classmates and Draw them
Omg same
I suppose you were never bored!
Lmao
Court is now in session.
I swear, when I saw the thumbnail, the first thing I thought, was that the caricature looks more like Obama than Obama himself.
This is an amazing course! I've been drawing caricature without any knowledge of it. I hope this lesson will be a good guidance!
such a great lesson!! Well done
I expected a caricature of proko at the end.
Haha that might come later
Good one!

7:20!!! Wow. I'm mixed with those 3 cultures. haha
The second you displayed those mixes, I became fan for life.
Thank you, this is a small detail many tutorials forget to incorporate.
You are Extremely Skilled. Great Work.
This is great video, and I love the sprinkle of your unique presentation style across this informative video. Video deserve much more views
I loved this video! Very interesting topic, I've always wanted to know more about caricature because it's so unique. Thanks!
I can get behind Proko branching out. Neat as heck
hmmm, i've seen it explained many times but never in this clear a way as deviations from standards. Awesome! Thank you very much!
Court Jones is the best caricature artist i have been able to find online who also provides lessons.
This is one of the only actually helpful caricature videos I've seen on RUclips
Takeru Satou and SRK at 7:14
Wasn't expecting them in this video lol
Hey, I'm just thankful that you do TALK and describe what you're doing and DESCRIBING how to do what you do! Remember, not everyone out here knows how much you, the expert, knows!! Thanks
this is good stuff! I'm an amateur painter/artist. There was a caricaturist near my booth last I was setup recently. He had a huge poster showing his previous customers. There's a difference between exaggeration & downright insulting. Anyhow, this guy had demos of his asian customers and... it was just clearly racist! ...yet, he had an image of himself as well, he definitely made himself out better than his clients. . . & they were holding his work in the photos, some of them def didn't look happy.
Simple and great explanation. Thank you for the video!
Woah ..all Porko videos so informative and entertaining!!!
this is one of the best videos on proko's channel
Thanks again as these videos are very useful for someone just starting out drawing. Very much appreciated ✍️️👌
Wow, your caricatures are so amazing! Now that I'm retired and have so much time on my hands, I'm browsing through RUclips to see incredible artists sharing their skills. And maybe I can be inspired enough to pick up a paintbrush and create my own works.
We hope you do! Art can be incredibly fulfilling.
If you do make things and post them, tag us on socials. We'd love to see it!

There was never a part three for the course planned. Buuuuut if you really like the course, you can follow Court on his platforms and tell him he should make one!
Was there something in particular that had made you believe there was a forthcoming part three?
I already like this course
Hello.Good morning. You've guessed. We need this lessonCaricature is for fun and for good mood.Greetings from Russia.🇷🇺
Will there be lessons on caricaturing the figure later on?
Yep! that will be several videos down the line though.
Good one.
Hey, Proko, do you got anything on how to draw the legs?
+HowlingMoonCinemas not yet. After we're done with arms.
Proko Excellent. By the way, when it comes to learning how to draw the human body, you're easily one of the best, if not, thee best teacher on RUclips. Great work, Proko.
nice video, wanna see what's next :)
Even though I fully knew what I clicked on and what I was watching, it's still shocking to not to hear "Hi, I'm Stan Prokopenko" after that bass line...
omg your definition of caricature makes me laugh even more now that i know what it really is
Part 1 and Part 2 are different ?
You are true artist
Great Tutorial !! when premium is available ? some time this December ?
The premium video for this lesson is already out with a whole second video on exaggeration : )
Sean Ramsey Thanks a lot
Excelent video!
What type pencil you use it ?
that's cool
2:04 was not expecting Mr Earp to be here! lol
caricatures looks strange compared with other realistic lessons in Proko .. and I ignored this series for a long time... however then when I did research about reilly Method in RUclips, it guided me back to this series. A really interesting and practical way to use Reilly method to exaggerate. and I was wrong. none of lessons in Proko website is useless. Start to study now~~haha
Glad you came back to check it out. In the part one premium version of the caricature course, there is a special bonus lesson focusing just on the Reilly abstraction, it's history, use and application to caricature, along with a downloadable e-book with a step by step for drawing it (Well, my version of Reilly's abstraction, anyway!)
YEESSS! just what I need!
Fantastic!!!! but one question, Akenaten is caricature??
Gotta watch the History of Caricature video for that ; )
Love how caricatures are funny yet realistic
whoop whoop! I got the premium pass. Time for some sweet extras.

I never would have thought that that 3:50 was supposed to be gene wilder.

Turn your photo into cartoon portrait bit.ly/2OzxLtg
I guess michelangelo would say "what the fuck"?
In your course do you critique at all?
Hi Proko!
I
I'm
omg cant wait to learn to caricature...
this guy has literally been dooing this since I was born
Andew Housley which was probably recently considering you don't know how to spell "doing"
@@isaaclee3490 you do realise that there's other languages and most people aren't fluent in English?
TAKERU SATOH!!! The desired average...
Great intro.
Wooooowowowow I guessed the definition correctly. I was watching videos of artists doing caricatures of people and realized (and this is before you said what you said about making them look more like them than themselves) they basically take the special and noticeable features and exaggerate them until they REALLY look TOO much like the person. Making the person look "too much" like themselves. Wowowow.
For instance, long head = longer head
Small nose = teeeny tiny nose
Etc etc
7:23 did I just see Sharukh Khan?
Ya ...
Legend says if youre early, Proko will reply
( hi proko, if youre seeing this uhhh hi)
tfw senpai won't notice you

+martin levrero please email support@proko.com with your info. We'll get it fixed for you :)
I didn't know ben affleck can draw this well !
how would you caricature the "average face"?
+Bboy brian I would check out Court's new lesson. His exercise helps with that problem: ruclips.net/video/zDW84U0sYTQ/видео.html
Looks good :-)
Is this for beginners!
Anyone notice srk?
Holy son of a gun! I've been whistling the opening tune for months now, thinking I invented it. And now I come back to a Proko video and realise my life was a lie.
Excellent presentation. #ScratchPadByVandna
0:37 I'm am dead 🤣🤣🤣🤣
When u going to add new videos for caricature
Premium students will get new videos every week. Free students will get a video around every two weeks but sometimes sooner.
So how would one caricature the face at 6:05? If that is the average, what would happen if someone that had the "average" face walked up and wanted a caricature, what then? How do you caricature a face with no real distinct features?
That's a great question Skeeter. And one that every live caricaturist encounters at one point or another. We wouldn't ever really have this average head diagram out on display to compare our subject up against while drawing (although it might be an interesting exercise). It's just a symbol of an idea to always keep in mind when drawing a new caricature subject. So when the artist has to draw someone who is reminiscent of the average, there will always still be something about there head shape or feature placement which has some minor deviations. To an inexperienced eye, it may seem impossible to find what makes this person different from the average. But the more you draw caricatures, the more attuned your eye becomes to seeing those small differences -- like a wine connoisseur being able to pick out the characteristics of different wines which, to me, would probably all taste the same. Even if the chin is just a tiny bit longer than the average, that's a feature which can be made larger. If his eyes are slightly closer together than the average, you will highlight that difference as well. So, in short, nobody is truly completely average. You sometimes just have to dig deeper to find those differences.
Thank you. I guess I should have thought about how slim the possibility is that someone would have an "average" face. There will always be something that can be exaggerated (as you said). I guess I was just playing Devil's Advocate. Thanks for replying. I enjoy your work.
WOW. SOOO MUCH TOOO REMEMBER
