I have no idea but up here in Alaska there are a lot of cabins that don't have any plumbing so they get a 5 gallon bucket and a toilet seat and call it a honey bucket. Maybe because one hope's their honey will empty it.

We call them honey wagons and its because of the color of the liquid that is pumped out of the holding tanks. It’s all about the color you know plus when dumped on the pasture lands lots of sweet clover grows and the honey bees love those flowers and they make honey! That’s just old fashion common sense economic environmental info from this middle aged farm and ranch wife/woman!

Always love hanging out with you! I laughed when you said you had on your allergy sexie (hexie) voice, I added the hexie part lol. Organization always helps to clear my mind, so thank you for the great idea of the cover sheets for each project. I love how the kits contain the special needles we need. So much thought goes into each kit.

We’re sure hoping to travel in our RV again this summer too Anna. I find wool hand projects are easier for me to do when we’re camping and sitting outside so I’ll have to dig into my wool stash and resurrect an oldie. Sue Spargo is on my bucket list for a class, someday I hope. Have a good week of crafting.

🥰💕I really enjoy all your videos. I have a great tip for creating a wool stash. One way is by going to a thrift shop some shops have $5 bag sales & purchasing wool skirts washing & felting them. Another is going through all of your closets in your own home & recycle ♻️ those old wool skirts & sweaters. Definitely going green & helping with fast fashion by using up what we have. I really have fun washing them in hot water & then drying them & then cutting the wool. I love that it doesn’t fray. Hope some of your viewers take my tips. Let me know if anyone else has tried using recycled clothing for your wool projects. Happy slow stitching. 🥰💕🧵🪡💃🏻

Hi Anna, Since "eyes" have been one of your themes of late, I thought I would share my adventure with the result of the cataract surgery I had in December. I have a very good friend that does some amazing Sue Spargo stitching and I have drooled over the posts you have shared over the years, but I knew that with my "eye" situation... I had better not venture there. Well, now with terrific eye-sight, I have jumped with both feet into the "woolie" scene. Just yesterday, I searched out and watched all your vlogs with Sue or about Spargo-ing as I sit stitching. I know you have mentioned Silken Pearl and my friend took me to Boise...half an hour away, to The Thread Gatherer's shop and I met CeCe...(ahem..and bought thread)! What an experience. I can certainly see why you like this thread. It is a dream to stitch with. One questions came up from several years ago. Has Sue ever developed the app to keep track of her threads??? Inquisitive minds want to know. Thanks again for all the enabling.

Hi Anna. Thanks for a wonderful channel! I listened with interest when you mentioned how you came up with the name for your blog. In 1994, I began rug hooking and eventually began dyeing my own wool. I dyed so much that I decided I better start selling some! I originally sold on Ebay, then on Ecrater, and eventually Etsy. While still selling on Ebay, I started a blog and gave my business a name: Woolly Mammoth Woolens. My daughter came up with the name, and for many years I blogged and sold under that name. I eventually gave up on selling preferring to focus on making. When I found your channel a few years back, I saw the similarity in our "names!" It is the perfect name and I so enjoyed using it for most of the 2000s. Anyway, just thought I'd mention it, since the subject came up! Still up to my eyeballs in wool!

Good morning Anna. Love seeing your wool projects. Some of my BOM’s I keep the patterns pages in clear file folders, with the fabric and folder kept in a large box with a smaller box or container to keep the left over wool or fabrics till project done. I find that way I can use those fabrics first if big enough and save bigger pieces till later or another project. Blessings and happy stitching.

Hi Anna, lucky you and G going camping for a couple of days. My sister and her husband have a lovely van, and they do similar, but in North Queensland where it’s hot! The closest I’ve got to wool is petting a sheep and knitting jumpers. Years ago, I joined 2 BOMs and put everything month by month into folders! They were/are embroidered and appliquéd, by hand, blocks. Well, I came across the folders! I’d almost forgotten about them! Oh dear. Must do something about them I guess. 💖🇦🇺

Another option for non-wool stitchers is bamboo felt. I found some at Over the River Felt (online). There are limited colors but then I hand dyed it just as I would cotton or rayon and it dyed beautifully.

Sue sends a monthly pre block newsletter that shows the layout for the block and for the cutting, if your signed up. You can print that out and put it with the rest of that months BOM in your binder. I have friends who use the binders and the clear sheet protectors just as you stated except they trace the appliqué layout in sharpy on each sheet protector. Laying this over the background wool of the block helps for precise placement. My goal for Sue Spargo’s trade winds and tinsel is to cut , place, and stitch my appliqué very precise in 2022.

Does that help or maybe I have what you were talking about all wrong. But believe it or not there were honey dippers in Arlington, Va. way back. At one time he had a picture of their back yard with the outhouse there.

Yes, wool is expensive. I agree, Anna, that wool is luscious and prefer it over felt. I have started both wool applique and wool rug hooking. So I purchase in larger pieces of wool. Also fun to buy in larger pieces and cut down to exchange wool with other friends using wool to expand stash. What I don't like about some BOM is when they are too skimpy on the wool pieces. Another 1/8 to 1/4 inch please!! Your wool projects are cute and fun, Anna! Was 79 today....had to get outside!

Nice to see what the background color is for "Tradewinds". Do you happen to know what the background color is for "Tinsel"? Years ago, I signed up for my first and last BOM and it was Sue Spargo's "Bird Dance". I had watched everyone work on their "Earth n' Twig" the year before and it looked like so much fun and it was so colorful, I signed up for "Bird Dance". The little black and white drawing was so appealing. I received the first shipment, and the background fabric was 3 different shades of dirty beige. Then to top it off, half way through the year, the group I had been able to watch the previous year was dropped by Sue Spargo. We were left high and dry. Who does that to customers? I've tried to bring myself to do another Sue Spargo BOM. The mushrooms last year were so cute, but I had concern about what color the background would be. I purchased her book for "Fresh Cut". I wish that had been my first BOM.
I would double check their shipping policy. They have the highest shipping of anyone I'm willing to do business with. Just ordering $3.00 worth of needles costs $8.50 in shipping. I find it is cheaper to order Sue Spargo from Stitching Post in Sisters, OR than from Sue.

I’m jealous that you’ve got your TradeWinds package already. Mine was shipped on the 10th. But it’s in Chicago so that’s a good thing. Actually depending on how much you buy they do increase your shipping charges at least internationally. And when I looked it appears to be the same for the US. I missed you at Saturday Stitchers today. At 10 I couldn’t see across the river because of the fog but by about 11 or later it was disappearing and it was a gorgeous day. Looks like you’ve got a lot of wool projects on your plate in the near future.

I'm doing Sue Spargo's other BOM the Tinsel Trees. I have not received the first shipment and panicked and thought maybe it was sent to wrong address and phoned. They said they have not shipped that BOM yet as they were still waiting on some embellishment threads. They did not notify me, but may have it on their social media elsewhere. So thought in case one of your listeners was wondering like me....now you know. So Anna, you will be miles in front of us. Have fun. This will be my first Sue Spargo BOM. The Swooshing sound is the money leaving my bank account :)

    Thanks for the info.
Love that chick project, so cute & colorful.
It's still very cold here in WI.
If you google honey wagon, it says it's named that because of the color of liquid waste that comes out of it!
    Ewwwwww!

Hello my wonderful cyber enthusiast friend! You make everything feel better in this ever changing time. I wonder if you could provide the name of a wool kit that was a big turkey or big pheasant on your back drop a quite a while back. Thank you so much.

Hello again Anna. Okay I'm rocking the 70's Era but.....I seem to recall it was on the quilt rack, almost a runner or placemat, grey backing perhaps? Pheasant or turkey-ish. I have done Buttermilk Basin search and Google search. I've only done an acorn wool piece & why I have it on my mind, who knows? Thank you, thank you. Enjoy your day, big hug.

Wow I'm jelly that you got Sue's BOM. You must be high on her list, she had 2thousand orders. Evidently because I ordered all the threads in one lump bucket, I am having to wait for the shipment to come in from the slow boat from China I guess. I am also doing the gnome ornaments and the gnome trucks and the gnome penny mats for the year. I am also taking classes from Ariane. My plate is full. 😂 lol. Oh no another rabbit hole.....but so want to join you!

I am an official "quilt and stitch "GROUPIE"......you are such a joy.....I am mostly a cross stitcher but have quilted in the past also. Getting back into the cross stitching now after years of not stitching and honestly your videos and chats are a true blessing! Also live in the PST zone....close to your old neck of the woods am in the bay area. Know that all of what you share and how you share is 200% appreciated amidst the crazy times. Someday I hope I meet you in person! Have a great weekend

I have met you in person and I have never forgotten our wonderful experience in France with Jean Mills. I am a quilter and I had cross stitched in the 1980’s. You encouraged my return to cross stitch and my first was of Tour Eiffel. I have just completed my hexie quilt which is hand quilted. I have tried sending photos of both to you and they come back to me. Is there a way for me to send phots to you? I love your videos. Keep safe.

How soon must you sign up for the BOM club. I think you mentioned that it will not be available until 2023. Is that correct?

Just wondering, what is the finished size of these blocks inBOM? And what do you do with them when finished? Is this a quilt of wool?

I love the Hexie with the bee is precious. What are you making with all your hexies. So many stories with all of them.
Is there any chance your going to Utah this year? Have you stayed at a place called Cherry Hill. Has a water park next to the camp site. Can't wait, our first big trip in our RV.

According to Wiki, the folk etymology behind the name 'honeywagon' is thought to relate to the honey-colored liquid that comes out of it when emptying the holding tanks. LOL...too much information, isn't it!

In Wisconsin I have heard of manure spreaders called honey wagons. I never knew why but probably the same idea.

@@kathieselig167 Or it could be a type of ironic humour that instead of calling it what it really is, you use a totally opposite 'nice' word
