  • This is a competitive comparison of the Ram ProMaster and Ford Transit Class 2 Cargo Vans. The Ram ProMaster Wheel Drive provides many advantages such as lower load floor, ample cargo capacity, and tight turning radius. These work vans are great for many trades including everything from plumbers and electricians to general contractors. The Ram ProMaster competes in the Class 2 Van Segment with not only the Ford Transit, but also the Chevy Express Van, the Nissan NV, and the Mercedes Sprinter. Standard Bluetooth as well as Back Up Camera help keep drivers safer when they are out on the road. With Fall Commercial Truck and Van Season Coming no better time to consider an additional Work Van or Vans for your Company. This Comparison dives into every day examples of differences between the ProMaster and Transit. Of course both vans have lots of upfit options from shelving to ladder racks.

    I own 5 promasters, 4 gas models and 1 diesel. I also own 3 Transits, 2 with 3.7 and 1 with the 3.5. I have had transmission problems with all three Transits. I have had 1 cylinder head issue with 1 of the promasters. All of the Vans have over 250,000 miles. I prefer the promasters. Cheaper to buy and cheaper to repair better fuel mileage and better payload.

      Having driven both as plumbing vans, I would hands take the transit ecoboost. Much more comfortable and better ride, plus with the ecoboost the fuel economy is much better. I regularly get 18mpg in the transit loaded up. With the promaster the v6 feels underpowered and transmission while worked felt like it was slipping on steep inclines. Definitely transit with ecoboost for me.

    You are a salesman for the Promaster, not a reviewer. This is not a review its a sales pitch. So your title is misrepresentation.
    Title is misrepresented.
    Audio is amateur work and bad.
    Video is 240 resolution, which means you do not know how to load at higher res, or you own outdated filming equipment.
    And we should trust your biased 'review' of a van which has many documented (in these comments and other places on RUclips) issues with the cheap plastic parts used in their suspension, as per unhappy Promaster owners. The fact that you have to make a pitch for this van based on a bumper design (incorrect assertion about the Transit), is sad.

    • @Sarasdad91
      @Sarasdad91 3 года назад +3

      Okay then, let me give you a real review from someone who owns the ProMaster. I have never owned a Ford Transit due to the plastic drive shaft coupling problems having to be replaced every 30,000 miles, and them breaking and causing transmission damage, so I stayed away from them. I have driven a 2014, 2015, 2018, ProMaster and now I own a 2019. I would not have bought the ProMaster if I didn't think it was a a very good van, because I move LTL freight all over the US and the van is my livelihood. I've heard many complaints about the Ford Transit because of the drive shaft coupling problem, and the ProMaster is not perfect it has its issues but they're very small in comparison to any major problems. These things are known for going 400,000 miles and more if they're well maintained. Many other people I know that drive the same van contracting with the same company are pretty happy with them as well. However I would like to add, that Ford has fixed the drive shaft coupling problems so the Ford Transit may be worth a second thought.

You need that torque and you ideally would like to have your van last 200k. But the manufacturers only really care about fleet sales and streamlining production. It's not a technology race and it's not a boom in innovation, it's a race to the bottom. After 26 years of durable Ford Econolines I had to buy the Nissan NV3500 this year. No major mechanical issues, gets close to 20 mpg on the highway and pulls my 7x12 enclosed trailer perfectly. I had driven Ford E Series vans for years and they were great, but I would never go back. The best part about the Promaster over the Transit is the powertrain has been used in so many Chrysler vehicles that years down the road if I ever need major engine or transmission work I can source one ridiculously cheap out of just about any of the FWD Chrysler products. The V6 is the same as those in the mini vans, Journey, Charger, etc.

    Engine malfunction twice, stock tires wore out in the first 5000 miles, transmission malfunction once, left headlight failed twice, power locks on cargo doors failed once, Chrysler fit and finish/quality has been exceedingly poor for years, this is not a "comparison"...

      @@Floof_Factory agreed. I’m an Amazon delivery driver and the vans in my company’s fleet are mixed between Sprinters, ProMasters, and Transits. One of the Sprinters needed a new transmission after only 13K miles! Not cheap I’m sure. Other companies’ fleets apparently heavily favor the ProMasters but IMO the Transit is the best overall.

    I just traded in my promaster , biggest piece of junk i have ever owned. Endless problems and no help from Fiat . I have always owned Chevy's very few problems. Now i just traded on a Transit . Much happier now . You want to ask any one who drives one . Not a salesman. I don't have enough time to list all my problems . Quick run down .Leak in Radiator 2 times . Tranny 3 times . Engine sensor 1 time. Brakes problems endless , dealer agreed he could not fix the brake light being on .6 headlights countless tail lights . Doors latches keep breaking .Side and and rear doors. The worst seat i have ever sat in .Like sitting on a toilet . Absolutely the worst in snow , Go down to a supply house or home-depot and ask someone who has one . Tires don't last .I traded as soon as my power train warranty was up . I drive mine , my employees would have really ruined it. Just got the 2018 Transit last week. time will tell but it cant be any worse the the Promaster

I've seen many, many. It's always a GM brand. I go with Fords mainly because of the seat and driving position. Ford I can sitin all day anf get out and walk away. Others, I hoble, bent over for 30 minutes before I can straighten up.

      Based on contractor reviews it seems like the most reliable of all the vans is the Mercedes/Freightliner Sprinter. The problem with the Sprinter is that its expensive to buy and expensive to maintain. But sometimes it may payoff to spend extra on a van that will leave you with less downtime. Next on the list is the Express/Savana, then NV, then Transit, then ProMaster at the very bottom. It almost seems like FCA goes out of their way to hold the bottom spots of all these reliability lists whether its JD Power, Consumer Reports, or simply a bunch of contractors and service people giving reviews.

Not saying the Ford is a great van, but it will surely outlive the Ram. Also, as someone who drives on jobsites, none of these euro vans is ideal. RWD is superior in every situation save snow and it really only snows a few times every year. It's a silly argument and FWD was sold to the consumer purely for weight savings.
