Just downloaded ARMA III half an hour ago. Though I knew there is a tutorial in game. I always check youtube for a beginner's tutorial. You certainly cover a lot of info in less than 20 minutes. Thanks for a great vid.
This game and DayZ when it was still on arma 2 as the mod are the reason I got into PC. I like to think I’m a Vet, but I still watch videos like these just to see the love this community still has for this amazing game that likely like myself began a journey of greatness for us all. I started with ArmA 3 right after Contact DLC was announced. There was a Steam sale that gave the base game, Contact DLC (when available) and all the prior Bohemia Interactive DLC for less than half the cost of the game and DLC purchased individually. SO WATCH THOSE SALES! I'm currently trying to create my own first mod (scenario) - it's about 90% ready, but there's one thing I still haven't figured out how to do - eject from a jet at altitude & separate from the seat to go into free fall so the player can delay opening the parachute until a lower altitude.

just bought it paid for all the DLCs, I've enjoyed it, very realistic I expected it to be a basic old game and boy I was wrong, also huge thanks for this great tutorial extremely helpful for someone who just started gaming. My take on Arma III, is how is it not outselling COD this game is freaking awesome
The average "gamer" is dumb, or doesn't know these types of games exist. These types of games will eventually become popular once the population wises up. PC gaming has really taken off over the last 5 years, and the new consoles are also pretty beastly. So I expect Arma 4 to eventually become really popular
@@jimlthor I wish I could have known about this sooner, the realism is insane actually having real objectives, realistic ballistics, recoil, having to use realistic military strategy, like how you have to pay attention to world around you, the fact that you actually have to use a map and a compass and actually navigate, I mean how many other games do you have to measure out your distance from point a to b, and take into factor if an ambush may be set up or if you have enough squadmates to take the objective. The fact that you actually have to use cover and wood doors and crap like that aren't real protection there just concealment. It makes me realize how much allot of people are just missing out on,

PSA: I don't know about Arma 3 Remastered, but be aware that mods often break the East Wind campaign, and it's a good idea to play that campaign with out any mods active. With one exception: you will need the Remove Stamina mod, because this campaign was designed before stamina was implemented. You AI squadmates will race ahead of you to the next objective, and you won't be able to keep up with them without the mod. Eventually, you'll get to a mission where this breaks the scripting and prevents you from being able to complete the campaign.
Just bought this game on steam after playing tons of milsim and realism focused shooters. Fuck I’m overwhelmed like crazy with this. Trying to get the key binds for the 4 different types of aiming and toggling optics. Seems fun and feels great base without mods but damn.

Everything was top notch! That final "Contact" DLC recomendation is debatable, as the are literally cero benefits owning that dlc for multiplayer and even the single player campaign is terribly optimized, the worst Arma 3's ever been. Apex, SOG and Western Sahara are a must, and Global Mobilization's latest update has put that CDLC also up there among the must haves. All in all a very informative and much needed video. I am seeing new players coming in large quantities to Arma 3 lately and hopefully the devs are able to optimize the game with a new shader as that would be the final nail in the coffin for the terrible performance. Fingers crossed
For real. Fix the performance cap, and this game skyrockets in player-base in days. There are at least a couple of modders trying to crack the code to get some real performance boost too.

I decided to reinstall arma 3 after watching this. Did all the tutorials and trainings and I felt ready. I was immediately spawned with no clear goal and a slightly stacked inventory that I did not even know how to use (like the chemlight). I wandered a bit till I discovered the buy menu but until I do something, I was spawncamped with an RPG. After I decided to buy a hunter and drive towards the objective in a slight offroad manner and still I was just called an idiot. I hate a game that doesn't tell me how to play multiplayer while everyone's hating me for not knowing it. It it actually better to play league
your problem is jumping into a game mode that youre unfamiliar with. each game mode is modded has a varying amount of quality and guidance. you have to do a little bit of orientation for every game mode you try what you did here is like jumping into a random modded minecraft server.
@@nannertime Well that was an official warlords bohemia server so the modding doesn't really go well as a point here. It's more or less maybe me being required to read instead of play. That proves a bit overwhelming, and I am a DCS player.
I got arma 3, question though is it possible to join games with the ones that has the dlc in it? I know some are optionals except the map expansions... The servers are overwhelming but I guess you explaining warlord mode and I did try KOTH in a bit. First pve experience was quite plain...maybe because nobody was talking. Probably if I stick to KOTH or something. Tbh not so exciting first experience in arma. Was looking for the milsim experience

It's an easy game to sink 1000s of hours into. Most people only play a small part of the game, which is acceptable. It's a sandbox, so do what you want with it

The preset creator can have two problems. 1. Your collection is not public. 2. Your collection has too many mods. The preset creator author said he was looking into fix it. But if it's still I problem, I will try a different preset creator website.
Do you need all the DLC to play on modded servers? I only really like flying helios and been practicing for about 4 days straight with the base version with a Black Hawk mods.
DLC: I think before we buy DLC we require more detailed DLC information about CDLC and when CDLC discontinues being just DLC and becomes CDLC above the rest of DLC and other CDLC.
im having serious problem with addons options. i cant for the life of me fix the you must first start a mission text that pops up when the cursor is on the greyed out addons option. who else went through this and got it fixed?
Yet i cant do a patrol nor side quest without being kicked out to the main menu 100% of the times. This is literally contradicting the concept of a open world tactical shooter game
If you wanted to play Battlefield. You bought the wrong game 😆. The easiest way to play Multiplayer is to find a King of the Hill server and just play that.

Most people play Arma 3 Singleplayer. But, multiplayer can be a great option if you have a great group.

That's not a bug. You have to open a "mission" to get into CBAs addon options.
I usually open the VR Arsenal. You can also do it in the editor.

No. Jet, Tanks, and Heli's come with the base game. The DLC just adda couple more and some missions.

at minute 9:10 i decided to watch people play instead
Yet i cant do a patrol nor side quest without being kicked out to the main menu 100% of the times. This is literally contradicting the concept of a open world tactical shooter game
I mean the game looks really fun but this is just a little too much to get into.
The learning curve is real.

If you wanted to play Battlefield. You bought the wrong game 😆.
The easiest way to play Multiplayer is to find a King of the Hill server and just play that.
