I love the Upstate....no doubt it is beautiful. I'm hoping I find a nice house soon. I am trying to avoid paying hoa or association fees. While I would love the IDEA of a tiny home....I'm just not good at minimizing. LOL.

Your moving into termite and hurricane zone . Many of the homes are rotted from the inside out . Plan on 80 to 100 grand in repairs and upgrades

Maybe you should consider other options, for example Southern Europe. If you have enough passive income between pension and investments, for example, you can be eligible for an elective Italian residency visa. A small home or an apartment in Southern Italy goes for 20-50.000 if you buy it, or 300 a month if you rent. This is in small towns, but very well served with medical facilities, gyms, pools and groceries in a walking distance, so no car needed. Also, no diversity, no crime, high quality organic food at low cost to improve your health, and a community of US expats. Free healthcare is included. Look at that on RUclips.

Have you done that before? Sounds similar to those shows on HGTV where people buy villas in Spain and Italy.

Maybe u should try Tennessee in a less rural area but near the blue ridge.

No Tennessee is rural too ! Houses are so expensive in TN! I hope things work out for you mam ! Things are so tough everywhere . Life in America has taken a terrible turn.
