U are right Bill ! They are not sport cars , they were designed for ultimate comfort! I hate the fact that many luxury brands these days try so hard to combine the two , meaning comfort and luxury!
I owned both a "78 & '77. Loved and appreciated them both for what they were. Granted, some could possibly mistake these cars for a small shopping centers, but so be it. Many a trips from Portland to the coast & Seattle and back were made through the years. I considered it a "first class upgrade".
My aunt had an orange one. She always said it was gold, it was orange. These cars were great on a vacation. They were also fun to take to a drive in. Watching a movie was special sitting on that back seat, only NO coney dogs.
Another beautiful car! When I got my mercury cougar brand new in 1976, I got a couple sets of keys. The one set had a couple of thin metal round shape disc about the size of a nickel, that had numbers on. The salesman said to take both disc off the key ring and put in a safe, or a safe place, he said if I ever lost my car keys, you could take that disc with the numbers on or copy the numbers off and the dealership could make new keys for the car. Just wondering if you ever heard of that. I still have the car and both disc with numbers on.
If you want a Lincoln town car this is as good as you will ever find. The 8000 miles one here in trhe UK is still for sale, for me it's blue interior is not as desirable as this one is. Best of luck with the bidding Bill, there can't be many left in this condition.
A car like that does not need to be and should not be fast or quick. Its main purpose is to provide smooth and comfortable cruising, isolating the occupants from the road, which it does better than any other car out there.
Yes, absolutely! That is why I do hundreds of pictures, many videos with full transparency. Most all of my customers buy from out of State, pay for the car and then send a truck. I have done over 200 auctions on Bring a Trailer and I show everything. I want the car to arrive to you and meet or exceed your expectations! Thanks and good luck if you decide to bid.
It must have sold,. I do not see it listed in their inventory. Friendly recommendation , be great to place your website link in the description of the video.
Hey Gary! This is currently running live on Bring a Trailer. High bid is $14,000 and my plan is to sell it to the high bidder. Predictions are high 20's and possibly well into the $30's. Best of luck if you decide to bid.
Hey Bruce! It is currently up for auction. My plan is to sell it to the high bidder. I suspect upper $20's and maybe it could reach into the $30's?? But I am bringing it to sell! bringatrailer.com/listing/1979-lincoln-continental-town-coupe-2/
Hey, Bill how's it going. So after watching the 1972 movie Deep Throat, I'm now officially voting for Kamala Harris this November!! #GIRLPOWER #BOSSBITCH #MADAMEPRESIDENT
Remember those very well as a kid. Beautiful car. Still amazed that the window sticker is on there.

I meant sport and luxury 😮
I used to own a 1998 Pearl White Mark VIII - Luxury Sports Coupe - 300HP.
Luxury these days means performance, unfortunately. Not much thought is given to comfort.
I can appreciate what BMW and Mercedes do with combing the two. But I get 100% what you are saying

I just am WATERING AT THE MOUTH!! Nicccccccce
Yes, this was GORGEOUS!!
$16,000 for a new car back then was a lot . That’s when a vehicle was built solid . What a beautiful car & no computer crap either. Easy to work on.
True!
Fantastic Lincoln! I absolutely love it! 🤔

Thanks! Yes I have seen those before.

That's a rare piece. Throw a holly EFI in there and she'll be a whole new beast.
Do they make conversion kits for those engines?
You know I agree if it wasn't such a low mile original. I suppose it could be put back at anytime.

100% Correct!
Hello guys so how does the bring a trailer work?
Can we bid on it out-of-state and then have it shipped back to Florida?

I've have seen this car in person and met the owner about 1 year ago! He lived at the Outer Banks in North Carolina.
YES!!! I have since paint corrected it, serviced it, touched up any flaws and did a full service. It has been brought to a higher level. Thanks!
It must have sold,. I do not see it listed in their inventory. Friendly recommendation , be great to place your website link in the description of the video.
Hey there! So yes it sold already. I will check into that.
My step dad bought a new one when I was I around 20, it got about 10 miles to a gallon 😅off course gas was about a dollar a gallon
Hey it's a gas saver! lol
The 8 track tape snapped because its an 8 track tape!!!

This car would be complete if it had a pwr moonroof!
I agree
how much are you selling it for
It us up for auction right now, high bid is currently $21,000 and the auction ends tomorrow.
If anyone cares that sticker price adjusted for inflation is $71,302.
Thank you! That always interests me!
Ty, I was going to that too.
$16,000 in 1978 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $77,250.55 today,
I never understood why such a high-end Lincoln Town Car would just put a regular Ford steering wheel in it😢
Cost-cutting measures. The dash is from the Grand Marquis as well, I believe.
Look at it this way. Man it is CRAZY that my Econoline Van has a Town Car steering wheel!! LOL
@@paulparoma Yup!

WTF?? lol
adjusted for inflation it's worth at least as much as a Stellantis Jeep , so the lincolns worth at least 135,000.00$
Oh wow, that seems awfully high!
i wish it was a bit bigger....lol haha
LOL!! Yeah it seems a little compact.
