  • How I play video games without any hand function as a c6 quadriplegic is the topic of today’s video! I’m super excited to be able to play video games again thanks to the Xbox adaptive controller! It’s been such a blast learning to play again and hopefully this encourages you to try that thing you’ve been wanting to!

WOAH! Mind blown! I have a progressive tendonitis condition that effects my hands the worst. I’d all but given up trying to play; after 7 hand surgeries it hurts too much. With controllers I need to grip and use my thumbs with, I can only go about 15 minutes at a time before needing a long break. But this! I’m going to have to give this a try! Thanks for the demo and thanks for putting this video out there!

Love the video, love the energy, LOVE that u provided links. I'm only a para, but got enough friends who have CP or quads, and i'm desperately trying to find them solutions to their limitations. I just wish i had $ to help them buy the hardware kit they need.. they dont make the shit cheap.

Amazing video! Thanks for sharing 😊 I can't grip with my right hand anymore (severe arthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome) and I thought my gaming days were over. With a set up like yours, I could get a joystick and big buttons I can use without pain. My issues aren't debilitating, and I know many others have far more serious limitations and disabilities, but losing my favorite passtime because of pain sucked. Thanks for sharing and happy gaming to you!

Usually NES and SNES are the kinds of games I play. I'm not disabled, but I came to this video because I was curious about controllers for handicapped people. I wanted to see how they operate.

As someone who is a kind of a n00b to the Xbox Adaptive Controller, I'm wondering how you manage to use both joysticks on the normal xbox controller in conjunction with the big buttons on the adaptive controller at the same time? Is it just a matter of plugging the controller into one of the side sockets by usb and then mapping them in-game? (I don't have a normal controller that's compatible with the Xbox Adaptive controller so apologies if this is a really self-explanatory thing when you have all of the actual gear in front of you).

Awesome setup brother! Glad you can finally enjoy gaming again. I'm a T4 complete. Forgive my ignorance but I'm curious to why do you have such an extreme dump in your chair? I have a tilite TRA and my chair goes nowhere near that low. Aren't you worried about pressure sores at that angle? I thought dumps that low are used strictly in wheelchair sports.

Thanks dude! I have a 5 inch dump in my chair and believe it or not for quads that’s pretty normal! Thankfully with pressure reliefs throughout the day and my Roho cushion, I haven’t had many skin issues that were due to my dump!

@@TheWheelLife I'm paralyzed from the nipple down so I know what you mean that you need the core support. I need to add more of a dump on mine I'm using a Java Fusion cushion which only the back half has air and the front is hard. Which style roho don't you have? Shopping for a new cushion and need some suggestions. Thanks!

You should try something called quadstick. You can combo it with the adaptive controller and a joystick. I play cod with it an can play just as good as someone with normal handfuntion and a controller

Idk why Sony doesn't jump on the bandwagon and make adaptive equipment for PlayStation? 🤔 I'm a PS4 owner with neuropathy in my hands and I unfortunately had to spend about $240 on adaptive equipment. Which includes the Xbox adaptive controller, Logitech adaptive gaming kit and a 3D Rudder (foot controller) which retails at around $100 And also a Brook Xbox/PS4 converter so yeah I spent a fortune on all of that just so I can game comfortably again.

Hi John, I am connecting with gamers and devs working with adaptive equipment for a documentary I'm fundraising for: No Handicap: How Disabled Players and Their A11ies Are Elevating Electronic Gaming While Leveling the Competition, and I was wondering if you'd like to get involved. I would love to have a zoom with you to tell you more about the project. Lemme know. Thanks!
