The Ana not knowing her shots heal allies is 100% accurate for someone playing the game for the first time ever. A friend of mine who started playing when OW2 came out tried Ana and we were asking for healing, and she said she couldn't, her nade is on cooldown. And we were like "no, just shoot us with your normal shots, they heal". The sound of her mind being blown was deafening 😂😂
That reminds me of when I first played OW1 in late 2016 I thought Lucio healed by shooting allies the same way ana did lol

Hello! I'm the person who recruited all the players for this lobby. I can answer some of the burning questions here. Yes some of these players are touching an FPS for the first time ever. Some of them are on controller on PC because they are more comfortable that way and Mouse + Keyboard was a bit too much for them. There's a mix of PC, PS5, and Xbox players in here. A few of them played Overwatch during the beta but haven't played since. Some of them are Fortnite and Destiny players but haven't touched Overwatch before. And well some have only ever played Animal Crossing and Pokemon so it was a huge mix of people. The common rule was none of them have played Overwatch in the last few years and all of them have under 2 hours played. For the first few games we just kind of unleashed them without explaining anything to them. After a while we had coaches in there giving them the basics. They all ended up having a blast and I have a few other friends who want to try the game out so Coach Koby should have more codes soon ;)
Edit: BTW JMayhem was indeed playing on a track pad. And some of them have skins because they were playing on their husband's accounts and consoles/computers.
Much praise to Briye for doing SO MUCH for this event C: Also holy crap, JMayhem's trackpad skills are rivaled by none.

Also for the record Jay3, Taeleus was being played by Mrs Taeleus that night. And she mainly plays sims and beatsaber so it was a STEEEEEP learning curve for her hahaha

first time i ever played OW i played mercy, didnt know she had a gun and went around beating people with my staff, by the end of that game i had around 20-30 kills😭😭

I'm started playing not to long ago maybe two months ago didn't know mercy had a gun and thought lucio healed by shooting teamates when in yellow

A pharah not flying and a Lucio not wallriding is absolutely insane to me
I know, it's like a vegetarian cat or something to veteran OW players.
we dont realize because we been playing this for years, but the amount of things new players have to learn is huge. I have friend that never played OW1 and tried OW2, this is them. They dont know what "I got you in my sights" mean. They dont know how to use their abilities, what enemy or even friendly ults do. Lest not talk about positioning, ult economy, etc. that is wayyy too advanced. They took a month for them to really get the hang on it. Some people dont have that much patience and feel overwhelmed with the game and leave. Others do get hooked up and start to watch vods to understand the game better. For people at such begginer level, characters like Moira seem very broken, and bastion are scary demons.
super unpopular opinion i'm sure, but what makes or breaks players in ow2 is that, the meta game. as far as fps goes, ow requires far less mechanical skill than other first person shooters.
not to say you can expect to rank high with potato aim, but you'll get a lot further with potato aim in ow than you would in any other competitive shooter.
i was new to OW2 and even i wasnt this bad, then again, i also knew how to hit f1 to actually see what the abilities all do so i learned near instantly what everything does that im doing, only needed to learn game sense ie, where everything is on the map and what synergies between heros exist
This is so true. I had a 3-4 people from my WoW guild download and play OW qp with me and the learning curve is way steeper than I remember, especially for people who aren't really "fps" players. They were long time WoW players and raiders with a good idea of working together as a team, grouping and using special abilities - the hard part for them, as they told me, was learning the maps, the heroes, what the objectives were for types of maps, what hero abilities did and how to counter-pick. It was a lot and some of them got frustrated and only played a few sessions.
@@SocialExperiment232 i wasnt trying to brag or anything, i was just pointing out that a lot of the things going wrong in the video were things the f1 card would have clearly explained, like hitting f1 as ana will explicitly tell you that her bullets heal allies, yes the learning curve is steep in general, but the bare basics on how abilities work ARE actually spelled out in plain text

I started overwatch in October this year and it was my second fps game only after csgo. I had around 200 hours in cs so i had the very basic mechanical skills required for a game like this. When i started ow i literally played like this for a week before i had some grasp on heroes and their abilities. I started playing cassidy and genji as they suited my playstyle quite well. Now 2 months later, i know almost everything a new play need to know. I just got promoted to gold 2 yesterday. Fun game for sure
I only play dps. Although if i have to i play ana on support and monkey on tank . reply with some dps tips if you got any :)

These guys are just having fun and is beautiful really ahahah was so enjoyable seeing just players having fun messing around the map or the aim or the character, i wish the game was more like this, just random shit for having a laugh

Its so interesting watching this because when I was a new player I knew immediately how to play, i had to learn some mechanics and the abilities but I got the hang of it pretty quickly
I got my friend to install ow2 when it was released and as someone who started playing june of 2016, it was really fun just watching her learn how to play. Many months later and she has improved so much
Overwatch must be so confusing the first time you play lol. Imagine having never heard of it before, then trying to figure out you have shoot your own team to heal them. That would sound bonkers.
if they just hit f1 they would see that their shots heal their team tbh, the game just needs to do a better job of telling new players to hit f1

when i first played OW1 i tried to main widow because i thought she looked the coolest. i had no idea you could snipe with her gun lmao i was just running around using it as an smg
I just want to say that the Phara survived her ultimate, that's not something you can say for most Phara players. : )
This reminds me of my first game in console 5 years ago, i was Dva in Route 66, my friend was flaming my other dps bc he chose a “defense” hero in attack… that defense hero was junkrat… good times :’)

OW2 is my first FPS ever, I've only played the Sims for the rest of my life. I thought Lucio needed to shoot his teammates while on healbeat, was compeltely mindbaffled to find out it didn't work like that when the tank pointed out "You know Lucio doesn't heal with shots?" 😂

I remember the days. I remember my teammates wanting healing while I was playing Lucio. I started shooting them, thinking it would heal them. Told me to just switch from speed. My mind was boggled LMAO
Take aside of how funny and dumb it was. It kinda heartwarming to see how players are getting to know this game. Like many of us were doing it at first. Its like i cant even be angry at new players. Since they are experiencing the same thing that i did in 2018

What we're seeing here is a Pharah which hasn't earned her wings. It's an arduous and difficult accomplishment to earn her Wings and the ability to fly, and most Pharahs flunk before they get even close.

My ult account wasn’t synced with profile so I was with a bunch of new people in my first game. I went lucio (my main). Didn’t wall ride and didnt shoot a single bullet. Just healed and speeded. We won easily with me doing a grand total of zero damage

This genuinely brings back good memories offOW1. Not knowing what anyone does and finding the heroes that compliment my play-style. I Miss it just a little.
When I started playing overwatch a couple months ago a little after it became overwatch 2 I just played mystery hero's with my friends and had them explain the hero's and I still played it by my self and I think it helped me learn how to play all the hero's to a simple degree and understand the game
The Lucio walking off the map was totally me my first time and when I tried wall-riding, I was falling off the map so many times I got flamed for it.

You know watching this makes me realise why there's so many players in Bronze who think they're plat, it's because the players who are brand new and haven't rly seen much of OW really don't use abilities and move around too much whereas the bronze players do, they just can't aim and don't know how to use abilities properly. But I'm really glad these guys had fun and I hope they keep having fun forever cus this was fun to watch

Love this, recently started playing Ow with my dad, hes older and ofc slower, but hes been doing great! His best characteer is Lucio right now, he reminds me a lot of the slow lucio when my dad first started playing :) Its been really fun coaching him, and we often support duo. He has a long way to go, but im proud of him!
