@Hedwig's Dream The new Dumbledore was played by Michael Gambon, had Harris not died then he would of stayed on but they needed a well-known thespian to take on the role and I like Michael's portrayal of Dumbledore. He is just as avuncular as Harris's and can all knowing as him too and eccentric too, the younger version in Fantastic Beasts is played by Jude Law. What I find interesting is them giving Grindelwald odd eyes [ heterochromia ], I don't remember seeing that in Deathly Hallows 1 or 2 on the younger version or the older version in either movie.

Richard Harris was not replaced as Dumbledore, he was succeeded by Michael Gambon. Because Richard had passed away before the release of The Chamber of Secrets. The word "replace" to me sounds harsh, you would replace a lousy player on a sports team, or you would replace a crappy actor, but you don't replace someone who has died. I know he was up there in age, but I truly liked Richard's portrayal of Dumbledore, more than I liked Michael's portrayal of Dumbledore.

I can never imagine Richard Harris Dumbledore doing the duel with Voldemort like in OotP...

Just to make the whole Crabbe thing less confusing, Blaise Zabini is Draco Malfoy’s friend in the Half-Blood Prince and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. The reason Gregory Goyle died instead of Vincent Crabbe, like in the books, was because Jamie Waylett, the actor who played Crabbe, was arrested while Universal was shooting The Deathly Hallows Part 2. Although, it wouldn’t have made much sense if Crabbe died because Zabini was basically a replacement for Crabbe. By the way, Marcus Flint was the Slytherin Chaser in the first two movies with the large teeth; a totally different character. Also, the scrawny boy in The Prisoner Of Azkaban was Theodore Nott. Many people mistake him to be Zabini, but he’s not. Zabini is the black boy.

I would have loved to see Richard Harris see in all the movies. Many complain he was too frail to do all the "action" in later movies but if 90 year old Christopher Lee could be incorporated in battle in the Hobbit movie (Using a stunt double , still felt real) so could have Richard. Dumbledore never voiced his strength just his presence had that intimidating effect, which I think Richard exuded perfectly. Let's not even compare the powerful SILENCE in 1st movie to the the shaky SiLeNeeCe in the 4th. Voldemort loses his shit over fighting him in the atrium not because here's a powerful wizard brandishing his wand with his angry face on, but an old powerful man calmly walking upto him as if strolling through a park without a care for his life (which Voldemort held very dear). Richard could have pulled that better.
Gambon finally gets it right after sixth movie. His scene at King's Cross Station
    was top notch.

Richard Harris was the perfect Dumbledore, he was the way you would imagine by reading the books. That gentle, calm and full of wisdom figure that Harry, the others teachers and members of the Order look up to.
People are missing a important part of the book, Harris wasn’t too gentle to play Dumbledore. Dumbledore from the books was very gentle and at the same time very powerful, but he didn’t had to show that part of him until The Goblet of Fire at least. That’s when Harry started noticing that behind the old man and glasses was a very powerful wizard, but also a gentle person that didn’t need to show his powers. That to me is what made Dumbledore and Harris’ portrayal so amazing, he gave the same vibes and impression you get reading the books.
Michael Gambon was good, but it was a shoe too big to fill after Harris. Such a shame that he passed away after the Chamber of Secrets.

I understand that sometimes they need to switch the actors, especially for the supporting character. But I think that they should at least pay attention to the appearance of the previous actor. Angelina was fine, I did not even notice the change. Voldemort's many forms as well.
But for example Lavender - how can one change the skin colour completely? Speaking of that, I do not appreciate the change of Hermione, either. I do not care about her skin colour in general, but I don't think it's good to change it suddenly, it goes against basic logic and consistency. If they wanted to support equality etc, what about just not changing Lavender the oposite way... And there were good characters from various backgrounds (Dean, Kingsley, the Patil twins etc, the Triwizard tournament sent clear and simple message, the characters of Neville, Remus and Hermione herself were a stand against basic prejudices based on initial abilities, wealth or origin), so the point was made even without ruining the consistency...

Honestly how many of these aside from Dumbledore you would have noticed unless you were MASSIVE HP movie fan? I certainly didnt know they had these side characters replaced who hardly had any lines in the movies. Ofc Voldemort was another major change, but since he didnt exactly have his own body until 4th movie, I kind of let that pass as minor thing.

@Anna H. Richard Harris didn't have time to "flesh out" Dumbledore before he died, Gambon did a great job of bringing the character more to life.

Replacing Tom with Quasimodo was a bizarre change to say the least.

Perhaps a stretch but there were two actors voicing Kreacher. The first guy died and was replaced and got a bigger part.
Not sure if it counts though!

Jamie Yeates was always Marcus Flint, they just put in the wrong actor's name in the credits of "Philosopher's/Sorcerer's Stone". They corrected it in "Chamber of Secrets".
