Harry Potter was my first film franchise, but from many I’m told Ginny’s potrayal is nothing like the books. That’s not Bonnie Wright’s fault but there are noticable differences between her book and movie counterparts as if they’re two seperate characters.

You sure did miss plenty, since everyone seems to be the perfect and only possible casting choice. And it would take a two hours video to pay hommage to each and everyone of them.
Yet I would already add to this list of perfectly cast characters :
Richard Griffiths and Fiona Shaw as Vernon and Petunia Dursley
Miranda Richardson as Rita Skeeter (too bad her role was so small in the movie)
      Ian Hart as Quirinus Quirrell
      Brendan Gleeson as Alastor Moody
      John Hurt as Mr. Olivander
John Cleese as Nearly-Headless Nick (too bad we don't get to see any of him in the second movie)
      Jason Isaacs as Lucius Malfoy
      David Thewlis as Remus Lupin
      Julie Walters as Molly Weasley
There, you have enough names to magically transform your Top 10 into a Top 20.

It is almost as if the character was crafted especially for him. I loved Rickman's performance in everything I saw him in. He had a skill to make not just the hero but also the villain likeable. That said, I seriously disliked book-Snape because he was supposed to be dislikeable. In that respect, as amazing as Rickman was as Snape, he was not "perfectly cast" to represent the book Snape. He was amazing all the same.

David Thewlis as Remus. Perfect casting, and performance. As well as Julie Walters as Molly. The magical mother I bet many of us would love to have.
That said, so many of the actors fit the characters they played.
My personal favourites though are Jason Issacs as Lucius. A man devoted to his craft, who always knows how to play a baddie well, and John Cleese as Nearly Headless Nick.
Sure, John is a small part across the films (basically the first two that are less dark and more family orientated) but, like most things he does, he leaves an impression.
Of those mentioned, my favourite is Robbie as Hagrid.
I haven't watched the films since his passing. Makes the final scene of Philosopher bittersweet and final scene of Chamber feel like accepting a last goodbye.
"There's no Hogwarts without you Hagrid." - Harry
Indeed not. If Hogwarts is home, Hagrid is the warmth that keeps it cosy and inviting. The friend you lean on for tea, rock cakes (even if inedible) and 'certain info' that he will admit he 'shouldn't have said that.'
As Robbie said at the 20th anniversary reunion, "My children's generation will show them to their children. I'll not be here sadly, but Hagrid will." 😢❤

I'm one of those readers who pictures actors I'm familiar with as the characters. I pictured Maggie Smith as McGonagall, and Robbie Coltrane as Hagrid. For Umbridge, I had pictured the actress who played the medium in Poltergeist with her short, rotund physique and simpering voice, but since she had passed before the films went into production, they did a good job. For the other characters, the casting was perfect. I had not pictured Helena Bonham Carter as Bellatrix, but she turned out to be ideal for the role. Likewise, I did not picture Richard Harris, but once he donned the costume and makeup, he was exactly the Dumbledore I had envisioned. I was not entirely happy with Michael Gambon's portrayal at first, but he grew into the part well by the time Order of the Phoenix came around.

Also it is sad that Richard Harris (first 2 movies Albus Dumbledore) died after the second movie it is stated that he wished to continue the role even hoping he would overcome his illness and get released from the hospital to continue the role. I agree he was the most accurate to the books and owned the role in the first 2 movies. However Michael Gambon owned the characters attitude to a certain extent. I feel Gambon messed up in the Goblet of fire scene where Dumbledore questions Harry about entering the Tri Wizard Tournament. Because it kind of went against book Dumbledore's character to question with such harshness towards a child.

I am currently rereading all the books and I 100% disagree with Alan Rickman's performance as Snape. Book Snape is so much worse than movie Snape. In the book he is way more vindictive and vile to Harry and his friends. Movie Snape was amazing but Rickman made him seem at least a little redeemable and somewhat good. But book Snape is an absolute monster who only changed because of his obsession with lily was stronger than his faith to voldy. There was no good in book Snape he only helped Harry because he had too.

While I agree Daniel Radcliffe is a very good Harry Potter casting. He doesn't have the correct eye color which is green. However I do agree that Daniel really owns the Harry Potter character. I am also glad it didn't keep his career from taking off . Most actors get type casted and thankfully Daniel did not.

  • @TheRealTricky
    @TheRealTricky 5 месяцев назад

One who'd I like to give an honorable mention would be Shirley Henderson as Moaning Myrtle. Of course, she was nearly 40 (if I'm correct) when she played the role in the Chamber of Secrets, yet she did show what a teenage girl could be like if you really got yourself the miserable type, and I've heard from several people that they were actually shocked to find out how old Shirley actually was. Although victim of bullying she was quite a bully herself, shown when she laughed at Hermione when she turned herself into an anthropomorphic cat and how she sexually intimidated Harry in the prefect's bathroom, and Shirley was credible in both personas of Myrtle and even credible to make me believe both the bully and the miserable one were actually the same person and her looks also turned out very good (it was only when I saw a picture of her as Myrtle without the effects that turned her into a ghost, that I actually began to wonder how old she really was).
Now Michael Gambon blew it indeed for me on his first performances, most notably when he shouted at Harry when his name came out of the Goblet of Fire, however when he did chill out more, as we can see when he takes Harry to meet Slughorn and when he shows Harry his memories of child Voldemort, I can't say he nailed those, but I did see more the Dumbledore I'd like to see. Although Harris, did indeed nail Dumbledore completely.
Speaking of Child Voldemort, then yes, Fiennes was truly outstanding as Voldemort, yet (and I forgot their real names) the actors playing the child Voldemort in the orphanage, even though he had little screen time, did do a good job. He really was a creepy kid. And the version of Voldemort asking Slughorn about how to make Horcruxes really gave me the creeps when he said "It will be our little secret". 100 points to Slytherin for that performance.

Well, vocally, everyone was cast beautifully, I feel that Maggie Smith, among the ones you have mentioned, did the best job at portraying, vocally, since that’s how I view things, the best. It’s that weird combination of I am your teacher and I am also your mother figure, and I therefore will not smother you. This isn’t shown in the movie, in the book, the deathly hallows I think I remember they’re being a line where she ask Harry what he needs, I could be wrong. Or maybe it’s just that line line, what do you need. Somehow I read a depth to that, but I seem to not read in a lot of other characters, either by voice or by page. Once you’ve read the seventh book, the meaning of sniping black becomes rather fitting. By the time Harry enters his classroom, he has been warning her death for 11 years. Please pardon the errors, I am blind due to American condition, and therefore half dictate most of my messages. There were so much of the books that was left out of the actual movies. I understand why, there’s only so much you can put in two hours, But then sometimes I think some of the emotional progression is lost. This is especially true for Neville, there’s a very poignant scene in order of the Phoenix that is not made into the movie. His mother gives him a used gum, wrapper, and that’s really all he gets from her, as a Christmas present. The Longbottom fee is alluded to, is never spelled out. For those who have only seen the movies, they were tortured to the point of insanity where they did not even recognize their own son. It is equitable to the death of Harry’s parents as anything I have read in the books. it is almost a Saturday, because they are just living cornhusks, there, but then again, not. That glimpse shows a snapshot of why will try so hard, why he never gives up, why, he says Voldemort that he’ll join him when hell freezes over. I thought that line is any less important when spoken without the knowledge of that scene, I just think that scene makes it Even more importantH
