    I did not know about offset bases - pretty cool. I would like to add, however, that for far less money, you can shave these things perfectly flush with the surface with a flexible pull saw. I have some from Rockler and Home Depot that work well. It helps to press the side of the blade with your fingers to hold it flush, and to work from the side that angles up so the overhanging end doesn't push the blade down, scratching the surface. Pros: no electric/guides needed, lighter, quiet, and no dust.

    What type of router is being used? I couldn't take the base of my router, so I had to use a flexible flush cut saw.

    I'm new to router tool use. Is the bit you're using known as a straight cutting bit?
