I actually like the 1977 Munich concert version better than the On Stage version. I think Ritchie, Ronnie and Cozy were more on that night. If you haven't seen it on RUclips, check it out ....it's magical.
This version is powerfull. Glenn's voice is fantastic. JJ Marsh does a great job on guitar. But I think we don't have to compare it. The Rainbow live on stage version is one of my favourites. The Whitesnake Live in the Heart of the City version is also great. What I can say is that Ronnie and David did it very well in the 70's. Now it's Glenn's turn and what a surprise. I love it very much. Saw him on this tour and liked it so much. Unforgettable !!!!!
This version was lowered half a step from F#m to Fm. I believe Deep Purple doesn't tune down even to this day. They may be writing in lower keys to accommodate Gillan's voice but he still sounds great.
Decent, but not on the same level as Coverdale/Blackmore & Dio/ Blackmore. It is good, but doesn't hit in the same way. Coverdale add so much more of a blues element and Dio just kills this song on the 1977 Rainbow Concert version. Plus NO ONE can do this song better than Blackmore. Just perfection.
Man- this one of those songs that send my mind soaring to the clouds- Glenn Huges is a fuckn god. I love the Dio version as well but man those high notes are just angelic and create an atmosphere that only he can do- seen him recently and he can still deliver to the T and make it look so effortless. It was the best rock vocal performance I’ve ever seen and Im old as dirt lol Thanks for posting!
Glenn has an amazing voice. One of very few people whose voice hasn't degraded with time. I just find that I often don't like the way he uses it. Don't hate this though.
Yep, couldn't agree more. He has an amazing voice & has done a ton of absolutely incredible music but at the same time also some of the worst - when he does that horrible whiny shit & too much squealing - it's so frustrating! I try to get people to listen to Glenn & on the good stuff they say "awesome" but then "WTF is this strangled cat shit!?" Glenn, you were born to rock, please do!
Yeah, gtfo with that all forcing "i was important once upon a time". Every good rocker never shocked public with "on's", it always was much more complicated like; "fuck the fuck without my drummer offy stupit deepshit cuckold hairy pussyd fuckstick!" I know i overreacted, but, rock and roll is just the way it is...
Great version, but Rainbow's version on the '77 Munich DVD with Dio handling the vocals is beyond amazing. He took the ownership of the song with that perfomance
Sorry Saturno, even though this version does kick some major ass the best version ever is the California Jam version with Coverdale. Nothing can top that!!
My friends father (Glenn and his friend Bennie was going to see Hughes at this tour years ago. When they arrived Bennie walk ahead but remembered he forgot something in the car. He started to shout at Glenn that he wanted his stuff in the car. What Bennie didn’t noticed was that he stood next to the bands tourbus. All of a sudden Hughes is walking out from the tourbus & wonder what’s up. Bennie rather starstruck apologises & say: Sorry Mr Hughes. My friends name is also Glenn. Hughes just looks at him, points at himself & say: Tonight I’m Glenn! & walks back in the bus. 😂😂😂
OK guys let me clear this one up. This is not a patch on any of the David Coverdale/Ritchie Blackmore versions. Glenn Hughes has a good voice but seems reluctant to use it on this track apart from the squealing. I have never heard of JJ Marsh until I heard this track and I am sure Ritchie was listening.. and thinking "Big Deal"
No way is this version better then the Ritchie Blackmore and David Coverdale version, or Ronnie Dio/Rainbow version, in my opinion. But of course, what a person appreciates is subjective.
Totally agree with you Shelby.....This song is made to played by Blacmore...and the great voices from Coverdale,Hughes or Dio made this together a true master piece..;-)
Best version : 1974 live with the composer, Ritchie Blackmore and David Coverdal 1977 with Dio and Blakcmore And some of whitesnake live, but definitly not this one, it suck
@@PK-io1dz No, actually Coverdale did the best version live at the California Jam 1974 even though he's not the best singer that have sung that song. The pain he's expressing is genuine.
my best favourite version is Ritchie and Dio - Rainbow On Stage
True The best version 🎵🎼🎶🎹🎤🎸😎👊
Ronald James Padavona R.í.P 🎤😎👊

Yep, probably the best version ever.... perhaps the best rock-blues recording ever as well.
Glenn Hughes is the VOICE of Rock, Soul and yes, even FUNK!!!
Metal
@@shspurs1342 Yep, but is not Metal a form of Rock?
@@1stSaintsFan Metal is obviously a sub genre of Hard Rock. Like Rock is a Sub genre of RockNRoll.
Glen always was, and still is a legendary vocalist.
The best version is in California Jam.... no one can reach that version. Why? Cause they was Deep Purple
For me the best is with david coverdale, 1974
I think this is the best vocal version of Mistreated. Awesome Glenn Hughes #deeppurple #mistreated #glennhughes
This is the best vocal version....

Coverdale not Gillan

Wow I just love this,Glen Hughes that voice omg.
Great memories and such a great tour with Tom, JJ and GH ;)

awesome JJ Marsh on Guitar is an overlooked performer and Glens voice doesn't seem to suffer the same loss of strength as for example Ian Gillan

the best version,in my opinion
For me, Dio version was best.
This tour and the Album - Songs in the Key of Rock are fantastic indeed.
I do think this is one of the best Mistreated by Glenn.

Dio version in Munich 1977 above this easy.

Nah bro. His performance in Russia is the best
Guitar plays totally out of pitch. Tooo much of bends and dull tremolo... That’s where you can hear the lack of Ritchie’s class.
Coverdale does it better, hands down
Nah cal jam is best version of mistreated my friends.
Dio Song Fool!!! Written by Richie!!!

1977 with Dio and Blakcmore
