    As awkward as this was for you to film, this was actually exactly what I was searching for. I wanted to know what to expect from a real period, not juice or water or whatever fake test people do. Thank you!

    Terrible how much embarrassment there is for women about the natural functions of women's' bodies.

    • @fujikokun
      @fujikokun 4 года назад +3

      This is the weirdest take. Periods are gross, poop is gross, I don’t want to see anybody’s urine either. It’s a pretty universal and normal reaction.

    • @victoriacrawford3680
      @victoriacrawford3680 4 года назад +15

      @@fujikokun eh I don't think periods are directly comparable to poop and peeing because they affect women's lives in wayyy greater ways. Unless you have a medical issue, you don't get horrible cramps, headaches, nausea, leaking onto clothes and furniture, etc throughout the day from pooping and peeing so they don't need to be discussed as much

    • @omnilawrence5792
      @omnilawrence5792 3 года назад +5

      Tons unfortunately😩 but I feel like talking about it openly like this truly helps. Periods are still seen as something that’s bad or embarrassing even tho it’s just a natural process every women deals with, same as digestion or even the same as breathing.

    I am a nurse so my gross level is extraordinary and thus my opinion is probably not 'average'. I have to say I really appreciate you sharing the blood footage because blue water simply doesn't give me a clear idea of how these products will work for me. While it is awkward looking at another woman's period blood, the informative aspect of this video far outweighs any awkwardness there might be. Thank you!!!

    I hope you realize just how empowering you video can be for so many women. You don't have to feel embarrassed or feel like you're grossing anyone out. This is a very natural part of the majority of women's lives. We've been caged in with this idea that this part of our lives is taboo so thank you for sharing! These undies could change a lot of women's lives (particularly the women in developing countries that get washable pads for free when we purchase these undies).
    You are not gross. for sharing. In fact, I think you're very brave for sharing this experience with us with the stigma of periods in our society. Personally, I'm going to try these and I'm super excited. Thanks again!

      Queen Vee I think you could but Adria period panties from myadria.com I think would work way better,I love them! If I don't wear them or its a heavy day I'll wear a pair of snug - fitting boyshort or hipster high waisted underwear with them to keep the pad close and secure, two pairs of underwear seem to work better for security.😊

He helped me out the bed, and was like Mel why are you covered in blood 😨😧😂🤣😆🤣. I messed my bed all up. I was changing every 1 1/2-2hrs, and I fainted. So once I got in the bed I was afraid to get up when everyone was sleep(thinking I would faint again) So I was like fuck it, I'm not getting up. It was a damn mess. SMH. I was int he 5th grade when I first started my period and underwear like these would have been a life saver. I think it would be a genius idea to make these in smaller sizes so that girls can wear them and not have to be constantly worrying about their period at school.

    • @SanaaJadeCruz
      @SanaaJadeCruz 8 лет назад +23

    • @frostfang1
      @frostfang1 8 лет назад +39

      Brandi Mathis it didn't even occur to me how awesome it would be for girls that age until she mentioned it. A total life saver. The more I think about it, the odder it is that they don't have sizes for girls. It's a fairly new company though so I can see why they would be skittish about marketing them to young girls yet. Other period options don't have that...hurdle. They suit all ages, so this would be the first company that would have to specifically produce and market it towards that age range, which is a delicate predicament.

    This was a very very informative video.. I know it took a lot of courage, strength and bravery to show something so personal to the public especially knowing the type of harsh, hurtful, and negative comments people always make here on RUclips, and how nasty and cold-hearted people can be without any regards to how the next person feel.. there are tons of females that actually call themselves "grown women" when they aren't even close...they get on RUclips and show extreme acts of immaturity and unnecessary childishness, just because they have nothing better to do or they just want to argue and waste unnecessary time . But thanks again for this video, even though it was recorded and uploaded a year and ½ ago!

    I have very irregular periods, but when they come it's not pretty. We're talking getting out of bed and having to mop the floor bad. I use a super plus tampon plus an overnight pad on the worse days. I'm constantly paranoid about leaks. I got several of these underwear using your coupon code. I think they will definitely make me feel more secure although I will never risk "free-flowing" with them. I have also started using a Diva Cup which helps a lot, but on the heaviest days I just can't because it fills up much too fast. Thanks for making these videos. Yes they are gross, and yes they are taboo but you know what? They're the truth. It's refreshing to see someone put it all out there and not gloss over anything.

    • @alexismccreary842
      @alexismccreary842 8 лет назад +14

      mine is horrible with massive clots. How do you deal? I'm a SAHM and im constantly on the toilet to "drain" because I fill up my pads so quick. I can barely do anything around the house because it seems so constant 😥😥😥

    • @circinius
      @circinius 8 лет назад +7

      I always double up on protection--a Diva cup and a pad, or a super absorbant tampon and a super absorbant pad. I can't just use one form of protection. I always have extras on me and if I have to leave the house I make sure I make frequent bathroom stops. Prolonged road trips, for example, are not an option. If I'm bleeding really heavily I don't even bother with the Diva Cup because I'd be emptying it every ten to fifteen minutes. I get large clots as well. No fun at all, but unfortunately it's life...so I just try to make the best of it and not let it get in the way too too much.

    • @TomiZ29
      @TomiZ29 8 лет назад +5

    • @TomiZ29
      @TomiZ29 8 лет назад +14

      i hate when you can feel them, like literally feel the clots exit your body and then you thinks its worse than it is and for me, it usually is or it isnt, like i'll check and the clot felt bigger than it was or it was massive and i have to change everything

    • @circinius
      @circinius 8 лет назад +5

      I totally feel your pain. High school was the worse. I always wore long shirts and a shirt tied around my waist to try and "catch" anything. I've stood up for the national anthem and had blood literally run down my legs and had to discreetly get up to the front to ask the teacher to go to the bathroom. I still cringe at the thought! Things have gotten better, though over the years and I don't even need to take time off work when aunt flo rears her ugly head.

      I was in the Peace Corps; I would not recommend the diva cup, not because it does not work (it totally does!) but because your access to running water, or soap or bleach or anything will be just as limited as your access to tampons and pads. No, actually, worse, because your PC Nurse in the Capital HQ has tampons and pads for you (and condoms and ibuprofen, and etc etc). So, I would recommend the period panties.

    • @DevonnaMcCarthy
      @DevonnaMcCarthy 8 лет назад +5

    • @amicobb36
      @amicobb36 7 лет назад +1

      Ah girl me too! Beginning in April! I've been using the Diva cup for awhile which I love but like Florinda Lucero said, it's difficult without running water to clean it out. I've travelled quite a bit and been in places without running water. In those cases, I used water out of a waterbottle to clean it out. It's a bit tough, but definitely doable. I really try to minimize my impact onto earth by not using disposable items so I think it's a great option. I'm now considering using thinx panties in conjuction with the cup. Hope you have a great experience in the PC. So excitedd!!!!

    You totally did not embarrass yourself! Why should it be embarrassing for us women to talk openly & frankly about our bodily functions? I greatly appreciate your informative & honest opinion!
    I just bought several pairs of these as even w tampons I get full on murder scene in ma pants for first 2 to 3 days & I'm always "dealing" with it or aware that I will have to be very conscious of it...and it's so stressful....not helpful when I have so much to do. It sucks. I think you just solved a very real problem for me...and while it's not the cure for cancer, it sure is a game changer for a very stressful & annoying issue. This was a real service to me, and I'm willing bet a lot of other women who watched it! THANK YOU! U R AWESOME!

    I'm not sure how I found you, Kelli... but I'm so happy that I did! You have definitely gained a new sub. I've been binge watching your menstrual series, and I gotta say thank you!!! You keep it real, and I luv that. I wish this company would do something for every pair bought, and additional pair would be sent to homeless shelters. Or even better, I'd love to get everyone I know to purchase these for donations to women's shelters, in lieu of a bday gift. But I digress... you really answer questions that so many skirt around. I look forward to seeing more (not that you haven't shared plenty 😜) of you in the future. Hugs!

    I love that you talk so openly and show your menstruation because what can be more natural than what comes out of our bodies! I remember the commercials I saw growing up where the menstrual blood was a sparkling blue liquid and then growing up and having thick clogging blood flooding out, it made me feel very insecure and I believed my period was something ugly and bad. Today I know the difference but I’m 32 years old, I wish someone would have talked to me the way you do, years ago! So what you do is so very good and so important. You feel just like the awesome girl-friend I wish I always had

    Kelli, I just wanted to say thank you for your wonderful and honest reviews. Your videos helped me find a period cup last year and now they’ve helped me find period panties. I have Asperger’s and so making changes are very difficult for me if I’m not sure what to expect. The thought of changing something so personal was extremely stressful but I wanted to do my part to be more eco friendly. Your honest reviews have helped me not only make these changes more comfortably but I’ve also become more comfortable with my cycle as a whole. I just wanted you to know that your videos are still educational and helpful. I wish you the best!

    You are so precious and completely relatable. No one talks about this so you always wonder if you are some kind of freak or what. I have awful, heavy periods and had no idea what to tell my girls when they asked me if their experience was normal as mine was so different. I really think this is very brave of you and makes me realize how much these conversations are needed. Hopefully, this will be the genesis of many conversations to come especially for teens. We need to stop this taboo and start talking about what is going on in every womans life.

    Thank you so much for posting this video and the Diva Cup video. I come from a family where my mother never really got into any details with me about my period or sex. I actually learned from my male gym teacher in sixth grade with the other girls in my class... SUPER AWKWARD and I feel we could have learned a lot more than we did.
    Anyway... I appreciate you doing these videos more than you know. It's nice to see a woman so confident in herself and willing to put herself out there to help other women.
    The few women I have gotten close to as friends were never comfortable discussing anything related to the topics you choose to discuss. It's nice to hear another woman discussing how their period is so that I can know if my period is considered "normal" or if I am having issues.
    Please keep up the posts, and please keep being so awesome!

    32:00 (ish) YES!! That's part of why I finally decided to spend almost $40 on a single menstrual cup but now that I've been adding it up, I've used it for (I think) 3 periods and I've almost covered the cost, and it's gonna still last a long time and save so much money and so much waste!

  • @sarawawa8984

    I had heard of these panties before but I had never considered how useful they could be for wearing on those days when your period could possibly (and probably) start. I hate having to wear a pad on those days because it feels like a waste if my period doesn't start and yeah, it's like the bulk of the pad for 'no reason' and wearing these would be such a great alternative. That way I wouldn't be stuck with either wearing a pad just in case or constantly running to the bathroom to check if I've started (and anxiously hoping during class that it doesn't).

    I know you posted this over a year ago, but I've just discovered these and was looking for more info about them and you answered all my questions. But that's not why I'm writing you.
    I wanted to thank you for your frankness and honesty about your period (in addition to the product review). I'm 43, a nurse, and have never talked to anyone regarding some of my experiences with my period and the strange things our bodies do as in depth as you did and I could relate to every single word. Thank you for that! It's so silly that we were taught (directly or indirectly) that our periods are a taboo subject. Even being a nurse didn't help me with that as much as I thought it did. So thank you. At risk of sounding like a cliché support-group member, it really did make me feel better to know I wasn't alone. It's even alleviated some of that general anxiety that comes with it every month. So thank you. ❤

    Searched this topic purposely for this raw content of product& no one was answering the "real" ??s you address.Thanks for making this content in this format cause it was very useful to women in my situation. Although I have a 3 day maximum (light spot to what many would consider a medium,at best,flow start to finish)- period, it still interferes. I'm a physical therapist that travels daily,working physically close to other medical professionals/patients that really doesn't have time to change tampons regularly, can't be bothered hauling wipes/changing clothes every 2hrs. I legitimately physically get sick being unable to handle odor, or feel,of pads or even a liner, so if accident occurs l'm at best like SOL , even though I handle other people's blood & bodily fluids just fine. Weird. I have no desire to ruin my $20 panties that I can't even protect or prevent by changing into granny panties, cause of my constantly lifelong erratic cycle.
    These may be the answer for me, but I am size0-2., maybe out of luck. Thanks again for Complete review ‼️🎄🎄to your family

    *I was sent two pairs of THINX panties for free for my review. I was not paid to make this video, they didn't even really appreciate my video, and yet they still put their ads on my video. I do not get anything for use of my coupon code other than a $10 coupon code off a SINGLE purchase of panties, which I have no use for. In all honesty, yes these work, but I would highly suggest supporting a company that builds women up and that is more supportive of other women. Also, they are overpriced. They raised their prices once again and have not improved their waistband quality. Make sure to check out my other reviews of more affordable panties that work just as well if not better!*

      @@irairod5160 Don't worry, I know it's not safe to stop them for more than 3 months at a time. I was just telling her that it is safe to use birth control to stop them in general, but I don't know if she was referring to stopping periods for a long time or not, my apologies.

      @@user-qv2ge1zi4c No apology needed, I just worry because there's a lot of misinformation around, and many women seem to get their medical advice from the internet rather than seeing a doctor that can explore all of their health history...and if I might modify my previous comment, it's not as much as it isn't "safe" but that is not medically necessary or advisable in most instances. Playing with one's hormones at will is not smart in the long run.

    Just discovered you Kelli and I LOVE how open and informative you are! Thank you! I just bought a diva cup to try on my next period cause my flow has turned super heavy in the last year, and have been going through hell with leaking at business meetings and in public! It's wreaking havoc on my life even if I am wearing three pads! Your videos are helping me tremendously! I'm 38 and I have always been open about this stuff with my friends and family but have discovered most other people are not. I am excited to see another person who is the same way! Keep up the great work and cant wait to watch all of your other videos!

    Thank you SO much for being honest and raw. I feel like a lot of women are afraid to make honest reviews like this, but it's exactly what we need to see to try ourselves! Luckily I am not shy or closed minded when it comes to seeing other people's blood, especially since us women have the same experience every month. I'm considering trying these out now, my flow is very heavy and i'm tired of wasting pads/tampons.

    Thank you so much!!! My daughter just started having her period. She's going in the 4th grade and i am worried that she will start while at school and I don't want her to have that embarrassment. These panties will help ease our minds when school starts. Thank you for being so honest and open, you are educating and empowering women. God bless you.

    I'm so glad you made this video! I hate it when women treat periods as something weird that should never be talked about! Even more so when they make reviews using water to show the "effectiveness". It's really nice that you speak about it in front of your kids.. I wish I had had this when I was younger, but my mom never talked to me about it and I had so many problems as a teenager because of that...

      ItsJustKelli Luckily I grew up fine and I'm not embarrassed at all. And when I talk about it and people make disgusted faces, I make THEM feel embarrassed for being so childish. Anyways... I watched a few reviews about the thinx, but it was yours that convinced me to buy it. I've been having some leaks with my menstrual cup and the combination will be perfect. Got myself 3 pairs. Thank you.

    this was so awesome. thanks for your transparency. my 16 yr old equates her period to an untamed river. she is super heavy and crampy (not a word) lol. she doesn't trust thin pads and not into tampons. I personally use the cups but she thinks I'm crazy. but I really want to get this for her so she can feel more confident while on her period. thanks for sharing.

    I am so glad that you make these videos. We, as women deal with these issues every month and its refreshing to know EXACTLY what products do work or don't work. Every woman is different, so I'm aware that every product doesn't work for everyone. But your videos are much better than those discreet basic illustrations on the pamphlets or boxes. Which do not contain any info that may be pertinent to our periods. I'm so going to make sure my daughters subscribe!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!
