Our catahoula benefitted by professional training. It gave her confidence and calmed her down knowing what we expect from her. Worth every penny. Catahoulas are so smart and adapt to good commands.
Sadly too many people buy these dogs because they have pretty eyes and pretty spots with no knowledge of how much work they are. Then they end up rehoming the dog. Also they have a very large PSI.. any dog with a large PSI is a weapon, not a pet.
I have a Catahoula. He is extremely watchful and so not into strangers! People I have to let in (electricians, plumbers...etc) I tell beforehand to completely ignore him, don't look at him, don't talk to him, don't hold out your hand to him... If they do it's like he thinks he now needs to make executive decisions. He's fine so long as people only talk to me. He's now 10 years old and I can't remember when I locked my doors the last time. Do I feel save with this Catahoula anywhere day or night? Hell yeah! Do I think he's a dog for a first time dog owner? HELL, NO!!!! I've had large breed dogs all my life including Rottweilers. So I was not a newbie with this, but Catahoulas are sort of whole other ballgame! But, he has NEVER shown any agression towards other dogs, me, and/or the people he decided to be friends with. Catahoula, absolutely a Breed to love, but you gotta know your way around dogs before you decide to get one. Thanks for the Video, they are just really beautiful

If you get an all up Cat you had better be an experienced handler of working dogs.
I got one for my little boy when he was small and nothing with fur could come anywhere near him!😅
