My girl lived until she was 15. She has been gone for 5 years and I miss her everyday. I know this sounds crazy, but she could say a handful of words including my son's name, "mom" and "no"! She loved her vet and once the vet said she needed to drop 10 lbs. She observed the entire conversation intently and returned home and put herself on a portion control diet. She would eat half of her food in the am and half in the pm and she in fact dropped 10 lbs. We adopted her from a rescue as a 4 month old pup and had many beautiful years together. What a grateful, intelligent loyal family pet she was! She adored my kids and considered herself one of them. It was tough watching her age. Glucosamine and chondroitin chewables are a MUST for this breed for hip health and arthritis. She used to get 3 every morning after her walk and she would count them. I know this because if we were ever short, she'd look frantically around for it, look up at us and go back to searching. If your catahoula is still living, enjoy them every day. It goes by way too fast.
We had a wonderful Catahoula named Scout. He was without a doubt the smartest dog I have ever seen. He was wise and confident also very eager to please. If you asked him just once not to do something he would NEVER do it again for the rest of his life. He understood everything said. He loved everyone and loved all animals too. He was our best friend. RIP Scouty we still miss you every day!
I'm from and live in South Louisiana. Having a Catahoula is the most enjoyable dog experience you can have. We first received ours when he was about 4 weeks old and had survived a freezing night in November of 2006. He was about the size of TV remote when he came to us and what a BEAUTIFUL boy he grew up to be. Goldish tone with silver, black and grey splashes. We had never really new much about "Houlas" before but were amazed at the intelligence level and the loving nature that he had. Just a few days ago we lost Banshee at the age of 12 1/2 and the house is much quieter now and he will be missed greatly. Catahoulas are a talkative animal. He was always the one to get the house up and moving and living with 3 other dogs for most of his life, he was the one to wake you up early and everybody else. I can't imagine not having a Catahoula. Their personality and will to satisfy you are remarkable and companionship beyond any other animal I have ever had. Anybody wanting to get this type of dog will never regret it. Rest in Peace Banshee, you were an amazing boy.
Can’t say enough good things about these great dogs. I’d be lost without mine. They will hunt, herd, fetch a ball or snuggle up beside you when you aren’t feeling your best. I sometimes wonder who is teaching who, me or the dog.
I adopted a “yellow lab mix” from a SoCal shelter. As he decompressed in our household, he didn’t behave at all like any Lab I was familiar with - assertive, very mouthy and bite-y, boundless energy and stubborn as all get out. He also became imprinted on only me. He focuses on me so much that if I move anywhere around our home, he is compelled to keep within sight of me before settling down until I move again. I started to suspect he might be a Catahoula but only had met one around where I live. After all, they were bred for hunting and herding - not hanging around in an urban environment. After Embark confirmed he was 8010/10% Catahoula/Rott/Supermutt, I accepted the fact that he was going to be a serious project for his life time. Walking him 3-4 miles is nothing for my boy. The only activity that burns off his energy is chasing and herding other dogs at the dog park. I always forewarn other dog owners that despite his tenacity, he is not aggressive - just assertive - he likes to play rough. He’s good about backing off if a dog has had enough and becomes antagonistic. Having owned an Aussie, I am familiar with high energy working dogs. My hope is that this boy starts to calm down by the time he reaches his senior years so I can relax a bit!
Im on the same boat. What I thought I bought from Craigslist was a Chocolate Lab pup. Well come 3 years later. I had a hutch he was not a Lab, never gained weight, green eyes, tons of energy, always by my side or my wife's. Very smart, loves to have me chase him around when he takes off with our shoes! But he's sweet, stubborn and not aggressive to other dogs or people. Might be too nice at times.. He has lots of room to run around outside but sometimes that's not enough but Wouldn't trade him for the world..
I've had only one Catahoula and she was so dark blue that she looked black at a distance, had one preal blue eye and one brown eye, had me a litter of puppies at 14years old and still hunted hogs for me at 18 years of age but at 18 she could no longer break the larger pigs or smaller hogs hind leg which was her trademark if they were 60# or less and was only good for ranging out on the first bay in the morning the rest of the day she escorted me until the pack bayed again, as we followed the pack on our trackers throughout the river bottom swamps here in North Florida. After a full hunting season the first week of June I went over to my dog property and found my Lady Bug dead. I doubt there will never be another one like her, in my lifetime any ways. Logger John.
We never get over some of them. Sounds like lady bug was one those. if u had not spent so many good days and had so many good times together it wouldn’t hurt. This is what I tell myself anyway. Here’s to great dogs we’ve loved.
I think I got one I spotted a handsome puppy and she was sitting by a trailer near where I live and she was going to go wandering out in the road. So I coaxed her back onto her property and put her back on the lead and attached her back to her dog house and then I went and talked to the people about her because she was loose again the next day and I said I will take her if you don't want her. I already have a Belgian Malinois he's a grown up and he's a little bit dog aggressive. So I had a little trepidation cuz she still a puppy. But I introduced them and I worked with them and I kept them separated it important times and then put them back together again let him play Then separated him again and again and then put them back together again fed them together very carefully and then didn't feed them together basically back and forth up and down round and round. And he's only nipped at her hard once because she kept annoying him and he had his favorite toy. So I put the toy up! He can't have it it's locked in her cage. I gave him something else and she's back playing with him again. He's a little annoyed. But he's going for it. (Playing NICE ENOUGH!) I think that I have a Catahoula here at first I thought when I saw her that she was a Heeler and then I thought maybe another kind of hound like a Blue Tick Hound? But, the more I look at her, the more I watch her behavior, assess her coat and eye color and everything, I think I do have a Leopard Catahoula. I named her "Karma" to go with "Kai" my Belgian Malinois. I think it is just wonderful that a very nice puppy got a new home and new friends. In FACT SHE IS "WARTING" KAI SEVERELY RIGHT NOW! LOLS😉
I just adopted a one year old. I showed him the boundaries of my yard ONE time and he DOES NOT leave the yard. He follows me around. He doesn't react to people or dogs. He's literally perfect. He's gentle and sweet. Love my baby boy.
@@hcaveman6954 so I got a pup and man I tell you , we loved chopper so much his spirit is strong here !!!! So the pup does a few chopper things crazy !!!
Love it! Dude mine is half but she's all these characteristics she's only about 5 months old. I can't wait to take to the river and creeks this summer. Good dogs and so glad my wife rested her. In a way this pup kinda rescued me and we start training for a service dog soon.
So is mine hes very protective over our family especially our son. And like she said hes very territorial of our yard anyone or any machine that gets near it hes in it. But as f as r as other dogs hes very sweet with other dogs. But doesnt trust alot of men. But women he loves. We have a pit bull as well and they live each other. He sounds meaner then what he is tho. But any strangers hes not with it at all.
Best family dog I’ve ever had. The coolest, most patient personality. Has never growled, snapped at any of our kids, ever. Follows my boys everywhere they go.
My Roscoe is a superdog Has no fear and loves the river . He is a big baby most of the time but will definitely let me know when he’s ready for a boat ride or a day in the woods . Superdog ..!!!
I love the breed. My first encounter with one was when I was 12 Yrs old. My friend and I were riding bicycles one day and we got to the end of the road one day and this black monster of a dog came running out of the swamp. We both froze. Then out of the swamp we hear a man yell "Don't worry he likes kids." My friend yelled back "For lunch or dinner?" The dogs name was Tiger Paw cause of his big feet. He pretty much became my best friend. I used to visit him every day wrestle with him take him squirrel hunting fishing you name it. An awesome dog and some day I hope to find a black one just like him.
james Reid Your comment made me belly laugh ... Friend asking if Dog liked Kid's for Lunch or Dinner haha ..now that was good humour. Oh a serious note Dog's (all) bring into our lives amazing, funny, loving, confidant, best friend, cuddler and guard that we'll ever have. Merry Christmas.🎄
We got a rescue one today at 5pm, it's amazing , it's now 810pm....I'm totally shocked how easy it is to Train. She was a stray and one year old..... I live on a ranch , I'm so happy with this dog
I rescued my catahoula baby from the shelter. And she’s my first dog and I can tell y’all that she’s super smart and she’s faster than 90% of the dogs out there. Love my puppy
Ive had my catahula for 13 almost 14 years now and shes still going strong still loves to run around and everything also loves the sun she could lay in the sun all day
Mine adopted me, he ran away from who ever had him before me and showed up in my yard one day as a puppy. He has been my friend for two years now.. I was told by someone who knows dogs what he was and have worked with him extensively.. This dog is smart and can jump straight up 6 feet.. Amazing dog, anyone who see's him thinks he's super handsome..
Growing up my paw paw had 8 catahoula’s they made every summer so enjoyable for me and my brothers. We use to go spend every break from school over in Jean lafitte with our grand parents. We use to hate going back to the city at the end of summer 😂 as a small child I use to cry while hugging every dog on the way to the car. Good memories.😂😂😂
Lost our beloved catahoula of 13 years to lung cancer, last week. Will be hard to replace her. Great family pet. Will be mourning her loss for a long time. Thank you for this wonderful video.
these dogs have mad hops, I remember volunteering at a dog shelter and one of these came through, and it was able to jump high enough to the point where its feet were almost five feet off the ground. freaking incredible dog.
I think my dog is a Catahoula mix and she can jump into the bed of my pickup truck without a problem. Doesn't even scratch the paint. She's the most athletic dog I've ever had.
this an exquisite dog. Its so refreshing and nice to see a well built, healthy dog. instead of seeing overbred and disproportional animals. and refreshing to hear this woman talk honestly about the breed. speaking about them being possibly aggressive on their own property and not standing strange dogs in their faces. this sounds like many pits Ive owned. But so many focus on changing the thought of pits they wont admit they can be territorial and aggressive in certain situations if not socialized, trained, and as she said owner is smarter than dog
I love Pitties. My Catahoula has actually "adopted" one of my Pit Bull Mastiff "puppies" (she's 3 now but she will always be a puppy to me hahaha). She doesn't tolerate the brother Pibble as much, but she will mostly just tell him to fuck off and he does. But she has known them since birth pretty much. My Catahoula hasn't had puppies of her own, but when I took in both a pregnant Bull Mastiff and Pit Bull Terrier, she acted like a second mom. I even caught her trying to nurse both litters. 😭❤
Also, they do herd from behind and sides if you train them right. Worst thing you could do is let them get in front of your herd. The method is not baying but fencing.
I love my Catahoula. He's the most loyal dog I've ever owned. We go running/trail running all the time. I also love the fact that he's a great watch dog and guards our house.
I have a Catahoula/Husky mix that we got from the shelter when she was a puppy. She is pretty vocal about her needs but she's a wonderful dog. I can't imagine my life without her in it. She is always a shadow to either me or my boyfriend and is the sweetest thing and is so dang smart.
My catahoula saved me. He is my best buddy. He keeps me active and he has some peculiar quirks. He loves thunderstorms. When it's thundering and he's outside he just runs non stop barking. If he sees a reflection of light, whether it's something off a pan or a flash light, he will bark and want to catch the light spot. I've only seen cats react like that. I take him to the dog park every day. Some dogs he allows to do the greetings, some he gives them a little quick nudge to back off. Ones who are very timid and show submission he sometimes will go in Bay mode. Only a couple times in 3 years has there been real incidents. He has never drew blood. I've had dogs all my life but I don't consider him a dog. He's so darn smart and loyal. I love him like a child. And will do anything for him. I'm glad they have long life spans. Not sure his age, he was a rescue.
We love ours. We have to keep him busy. He doesn’t buy that I’m an old lady. Which is really good for me. We are an extended family of 4. I’m the grandma. He is helping me recover from an accident because he demands we get outside. If we can’t get outside we have some inside games. Unlike some of the Catahoula dogs he is very affectionate. Because of the accident I had a few years back I had a fear of walking in the evening. With my Catahoula friend I have been able to continue my evening walks again. It’s also a plus that he has connected with all of us. We can all share in his care while he takes care of us.
My boys take care of my mom for us when we are out. Mom has bad balance and is deaf. I swear they know this since they slow down around her and give her room when she moves about.
@@fossilguybmf4210 tbh the both off you have very affectionate dog fair play you are very lucky hope you enjoy your dogs they are a lovely breed great worker lovely family dog never owned one but love hounds got 2 eng foxhounds soft with family would kill any fox badger squirrel going BTW thanks for the grey squirrel 😂😂😂😂😂😂 take care hope your dog make you happy and live a long life take carw
@@ianhugheswhite76 thank you sir. They are 5 years old now named Gator and Gumbo brothers from same litter. I can walk them on a leash when i kill a deer and they stroll along not yanking or making a sound. Pausing every now and then to look at me as if to say... whats the matter dad, cant you smell where he is? Dont you see all this blood? Then they get to feast on scraps while cleaning it later deboning it and while grinding and stuffing sausage. They even get the finished products. Got some mounted and when i come in they jump on couch and sniff at the deer heads on the wall..
@@fossilguybmf4210 hahaha hope you enjoy sir foxhounds ball ache wen they get scent over wise excellent on lead mine love the pub that's wen they pull 😂😂😂 got to go to the pub
I rescued my catahoula Bindy from a local shelter and she was abandoned by her first owner. She is completely gorgeous and a total sweetheart. She’s a perfect pet for our active family. She loves people and other cats and dogs especially her pit bull sister Nala
My second dog was a Catahoula, he was a big on too. Best dog I ever had. (Also known as Spirit Dogs), I had nightmare one time, where there was a shadow figure standing in the doorway. I woke up and my dog Boomer was standing in front of my doorway in-between where that shadow figure was standing and he was growling and after that I never heard him growl like that ever again.
Mine cries when I leave him outside for literally 1 minute lolol and he DEFINITELY needs to be under me 24/7. I love him. I never looked into catahoulas and I’m honestly so blessed I was able to take him in. I never knew what I was missing !
I have a Catahoula/Aussie and he is the BEST dog! He is crazy smart. Knows English, Spanish, and hand commands. He's scared of cattle and horses though lol.
I was lucky enough to rescue a Catahoula who was shipped from Mississippi to San Diego. Mocha has been a great companion. He loves going mountain bike riding with me and running. He "hurds" the neighborhood kids when they stray too far away from the neighborhood parties. He is super smart and loves learning new tasks! At 13.5 years old, he still enjoys getting out for 3 miles a day of exercise and chasing squirrels in the back yard!
I just want to say to anybody that took the time to leave a thumbs down or a negative comment you are truly hollow individuals this lady is wonderful this video is very informative and the dogs are beautiful
We have a 16 month old merle with tan trim Catahoula. He is an incredible animal, very bonded to our grandkids, and loves to play with other dogs. He gets a good run every day along side our golf cart, and regular play dates with his dog cousin. We will be adopting a female pup in January. Fantastic dogs!!
They are working dogs. Learning commands need to start at an early age. My 2 freyja and Thor are great, I'll never own another breed. I take them out every day to hunt squirl and I've found they're great for duck hunting. As long as you take the time to train them, they won't do anything you mentioned. I wish freyja and Thor would lay around more, but it's nice to have active dogs that behave and keep me on my toes.
If your dog is doing that, it needs more exercise . chewing up chords and destroying the garden is text book dog that’s bored and wants to get out and go for a walk and some exercise.
My neighbor when I lived in NC had a catahoula. He was the smartest dog, and needed to be around people or other dogs all the time. I would leave my door unlocked, as everyone did in our area, and I’d come home and he’d be in my house with my dogs. At first I thought he’d slipped in while the door was open before I left. But it kept happening. Finally I got a camera, and it turns out he was opening the door, closing it behind him, and would go get on my couch with his buddies. He hated being home alone when JB was at work, so he just came over.
I absolutely love my senior dog (13). Best dog by far we’ve ever owned! He’s 1/2 lab, which mellowed him just a little, but the catahoula in him is dominant. Never had a more loyal and obedient dog! Very smart too!
My wife and I got a Catahoula 1 month ago. We are not dog experienced so did not know what she was. The vet told us. So now we are learning about the Catahoula leopard so we can best treat and train her. She is adorable and we feel very lucky to have gotten her. IL
Love my catahoulas, I have 3. One is a tracker, one a woods dog and the third herds. My tracker was used in search and rescue and did great! Gotta keep them busy for sure. Catahoulas are also tree climbers. We had to raise the height of our fence. One of mine would climb a tree to jump over the fence! Catahoulas are not for everyone!!!
I have a six month catahoula! Amazing amazing dog. He's going to be on the larger side but he is absolutely down for anything. His first time to the river he just docs right in. He's ok with strangers but always looks to me for the ok. Gets along very well with my older dog and is kind of just a goofy dog. Love em!
i got a catahoula lepord dog about a year ago for hunting and protection at home, and i would never want another bread. she has been the easeyst dog to train so smart. also a very good family dog if your active. my single catahoula pulls a dog sled in the winter and the sled is 30 or 40 lbs my littel girl is 40lbs and im 155lbs my catahoula pulls ìt all day. never seen a dog so drivin to work.
We have one. He is so awesome. So smart. So loving. Ours is well socialized, but he will stand up for himself. He’s a tough guy. Love him to death !!!!
I got my first Catahoula in 1983 in the Big Bend area of Texas . He was a great dog who loved to run my 15 miles feed run. Chase coyotes, and was fearless when it came to hunting javalinas . I even used him when bird hunting as a retriever. They are so smart and quick to learn it's amazing. Good video.
We got our first Catahoula two and a half years ago. Abby worked out so well. We fell in love with the breed. So we got another one. Very different personalities and very different body types. Abby has the greyhound body type. Annie has the body type of the red wolf. They are beautiful.
One of my grandpuppies is a Catahoula and does she ever fill the bill! Maisey is highly intelligent, competitive and willful. She has to be crated when her family leaves home because she climbs onto the table and countertops, and gets into cabinet doors and drawers. She eats pencils, crayons, shoes, anything... but she is a sweet girl all the same. If she gets into trouble, she tries to smile to make amends and her smile is so creepy, kinda half grimace, that I have to laugh. She cracks me up everytime!
@@teresacubbage439 Very often, a puppy becomes the "practice run" before having an actual child. Less often, it ends there. Either way, the puppy is part of the family... Not my puppy but loved as if it were my puppy!
I have a Catahoula Brindle dog and she is amazing. Very loyal and great with babies. She is also very protective over women and babies. She is so intelligent. I would love to have another.
I've had 2 catahulas the first was a brown tan and white...very strong willed ans a great watch dog...beautiful dog..the 2nd one is a quad color black..gray white and brown...beautiful bread...high energy..atheletic..high jumper ...crazy...very protective...family dog..who craves a lot of attention
Mine climbs trees, tries to climb telephone poles, catches and kills coyotes, hunts squirrels and brings 1200 pound bulls to their knees with a killer nose hold. I love my Catahoulas. Oh yeah, don’t break in my house either, especially at night. Excellent guard dogs. And she’s wrong. Catahoulas do catch. Don’t take my word for it. RUclips Catahoula hog dogs.
I love my Catahoula, best and smartest dog I have ever had; my absolute best friend. Really great information about the breed, they really are very very intelligent and wonderful support dogs. Amazing protectors will even protect the family kitten from our other dogs.
Love this breed as an active person with time to spare. My Catahoula can jump a six foot fence without a pause and she's fast enough to catch bunnies and squirrels without a problem. Though her energy is incredible, she's got to get a fast three mile run (if not more) in everyday or she goes crazy. Mine isn't much of a barker and is a great cuddle buddy after enough exercise. I wouldn't recommend this breed for anyone with children or who loves small dogs, prey drive is high and smart enough to open doors. Once I was surprised by a man jumping out of the bushes on one of our runs and she stepped between us with her haunches high in the air, snarled, and scared the man off. Perfect for protection, but not fearful of strangers: unless you are.
I had the privilege of having a blue Merle/glass eyes Catahoula. O’Malley was a brilliant and beautiful animal we got from Conch Catahoulas in Marathon, FL. He definitely was a high energy dog but, he was loyal, protective and a wonderful companion. I miss him very much. Thank you for sharing your incredible dogs and this video with us.
We adopted one about 8 months ago. She's black and white, her eyes are blue and look like glass. She was abused badly by her previous owner, but she is the sweetest and most loyal dog. ❤️
Really like the fact that the NALC, seems to follow more of a working kennel breeding philosophy, driving healthy and functional selection, as opposed to some of these show breeds today.
We love, love, love our Catahoula! He is so affection and highly intelligent, wonderful with all kids and loves to be with the kids. He also loves to play with other dogs at the dog park and doggy day care. I have never loved or thought that I could love an animal as much as I do now until I met our CLD.
That kennel setup looks very well made. As a young police officer in a small town more than two decades ago I was required to run out to the animal control shelter each morning near the end of my graveyard shift to feed and water the dogs picked up during the day and to hose out every kennel. They were using plywood flooring and it took a few of us a lot of explaining that the dogs needed a cement floor with good drainage and not very absorbent, porous type material should be used because of the risk for spreading disease. It was about two years later when we succeeded in getting enough donor matching funds to build the new kennels from the ground up. Seeing the bright, clean kennel and stalls in this video bring back memories of the many different residents of our little shelter.
We love our Catahoula x Rottweiler crosses. Bro and sis. He's more Rottweiler but ore trim. She's 100% Catahoula, super smart and prey driven. Easy to train and both are excellent watch dogs.
I have an awesome 7 week old 5 litter My wife wants to keep them ALL! lol I've raised German Shepherd and Boston Terrier. NO COMPARISON!!! These dogs connect.
That's amazing! Are you looking for homes? We would love a puppy my girl loves pups and can use a friend she doesn't have to be cautious about. I have a 9 year old female who is use to having 2 smaller dogs around.
My Lilith is the best dog I’ve ever had. She’s the sweetest. Smartest girl ever. They’re so playful and loving. She wakes me up in the morning throwing her head by mine and her whole body on me to love her. Catahoula dogs are the only way to go.
I have a 2 year old named beaux. He is the sweetest most fun loving animal. With that being said he’s the most stubborn, hard headed animal I have ever owned
I have had a Catahoula for 8.5 yrs. She is my service dog for 7 yrs. She is a fantastic dog. She does tasks such as "momentum" pulling with my wheelchair and other physical tasks. Over the years we are so close and she is so intelligent that she helps me with my PTSD issues and became one that I rely on for cues with my moderate hearing loss. Although she needs her physical simulation she is perfectly happy laying with me on a sick day. She has stayed with me in the hospital once for 5 days with only a few short walks each day. Because I was sick she only wanted to be by my side. She is my best friend above any human.
I'm so happy that your amazing Catahoula takes such good care of you. It is impossible to explain these dogs to people, you only understand when you are owned by one. Blessings to you always.
I really like this breed. When my current SDIT gets old one day I might consider this one was my next service dog. Or at least as a backup service dog and a companion once I get a house with a yard. Very beautiful dogs 😍😍
Thank you for this great video, I have two catahoula/cane corso mix girl siblings born on August 4th this year. I have been feeling a bit in over my head because even though I was a certified vet-tech for near a decade, and have rehabbed many stubborn herding/working breed fosters, I have had almost zero experience with the catahoula breed. But I'm feeling MUCH better now! I am a huge fan of border collies, and so I know I can handle the keeping them busy part, and thanks to my foster fail and forever fur babe Bear who passed away last month, I know I can handle the stubborn haha
Got my Catahoula 2 years ago. He was 1 month old. Most athletic, smart, remarkable dog I have ever had. Definitely stubborn and does not lack in the communication department lol. My Australian Shephard/Pit Mix was a year old when I got my Catahoula and they bonded instantly. Work and play well together and are inseparable. Love the breed!
whoops i’m a lazy person (mostly cause my life has just been boring after my previous shollie got put down) and accidentally adopted a catahoula puppy. she’s annoying and howly/whiny but i’m sure i can adapt to her needs.
Love love my Catahoula! So sweet and so protective of my daughter and a great guard dog! You can see how much he loves us. Easy to train and fast AF! While playing with him doing his burnoff he can become a fury Cannonball and took my legs clean out from underneath me. I haven't laughed so hard in ages. As a boy I always wanted a dog like my Marvin!
My wife and I got a Catahoula nearly 2 years ago and I will never get another breed. Best dog I have ever had in my life - he’s my best buddy!

Catahoulas are terrific! 🤩
My girl lived until she was 15. She has been gone for 5 years and I miss her everyday. I know this sounds crazy, but she could say a handful of words including my son's name, "mom" and "no"!

Beautifully said. So true. Especially about waking up early! 🤣
Can’t say enough good things about these great dogs. I’d be lost without mine. They will hunt, herd, fetch a ball or snuggle up beside you when you aren’t feeling your best. I sometimes wonder who is teaching who, me or the dog.
Awww..big hugs 💔
I just got my catahoula and pit mix and he's absolutely the best dog ever! Smart! Learns easily!
Hello Summer how are you doing today.

Sorry about your dog
We never get over some of them. Sounds like lady bug was one those. if u had not spent so many good days and had so many good times together it wouldn’t hurt. This is what I tell myself anyway. Here’s to great dogs we’ve loved.
Someday I think we will all be reunited
LOLS😉
There’s always that one dog 🐕! Mine’s still alive, but I can imagine. 😔
I just adopted a one year old. I showed him the boundaries of my yard ONE time and he DOES NOT leave the yard. He follows me around. He doesn't react to people or dogs. He's literally perfect. He's gentle and sweet. Love my baby boy.
The best dogs ever , I had to put my dog chopper down 2 months ago and I'm still crushed !!!
@@irvinhawkeswood7856 🙏🙏🙏for Chopper and you!
Mine is absolutely a gentle soul. Tail never stops wagging, loves children. And just a bundle of fun. His name is Porter
Our Sally is so gentle but an excellent guard dog. She was a rescue dog - didn't like pig hunting.
Best family dog I’ve ever had. The coolest, most patient personality. Has never growled, snapped at any of our kids, ever. Follows my boys everywhere they go.
My Roscoe is a superdog
Has no fear and loves the river . He is a big baby most of the time but will definitely let me know when he’s ready for a boat ride or a day in the woods .
Superdog ..!!!
Mine is like that too. Shes a big ol teddybear. Her name is chica

Your comment made me belly laugh ...
Ive had my catahula for 13 almost 14 years now and shes still going strong still loves to run around and everything also loves the sun she could lay in the sun all day
How is she?
Yeah mines a mix but he likes to jump and tear off these palm tree leaves and it's atleast 5-6 ft off the ground.
I think my dog is a Catahoula mix and she can jump into the bed of my pickup truck without a problem. Doesn't even scratch the paint. She's the most athletic dog I've ever had.
Carl Deaton my grandmothers dog jumped a six foot privacy fence while on a runner and hung itself. It was terrible, but you are right, they can jump!
that... I don't really have a response for that.
It taught my grandmother a huge lesson about putting dogs on runners. Bad things can happen with them.
this an exquisite dog. But so many focus on changing the thought of pits they wont admit they can be territorial and aggressive in certain situations if not socialized, trained, and as she said owner is smarter than dog
very true! ;)
Raised these dogs as a kid in Arkansas with my family to work cattle. Best dang cattle dogs you could ever have.
Are they good for 5k? 10k?
I have a Catahoula/Husky mix that we got from the shelter when she was a puppy. She is pretty vocal about her needs but she's a wonderful dog. I can't imagine my life without her in it. She is always a shadow to either me or my boyfriend and is the sweetest thing and is so dang smart.
My brother’s just died this week! I felt sad and cried!
Hello Nancy how are you doing today.
I rescued my catahoula Bindy from a local shelter and she was abandoned by her first owner. She is completely gorgeous and a total sweetheart. She’s a perfect pet for our active family. She loves people and other cats and dogs especially her pit bull sister Nala
I've had my catahoula for just over a month. He's such a good puppy!
That is amazing. Truly 🙏🏽
What are you saying? Was it a ghost 👻?
I hear the voice of a true ambassador. Thankyou.
Mine cries when I leave him outside for literally 1 minute lolol and he DEFINITELY needs to be under me 24/7. I love him. I never looked into catahoulas and I’m honestly so blessed I was able to take him in. I never knew what I was missing !
Also he’s only 3 months and man I can already tell he’s gonna be so protective
I have a Catahoula/Aussie and he is the BEST dog! He is crazy smart. Knows English, Spanish, and hand commands. He's scared of cattle and horses though lol.
So he’s catahoula/Aussie/Filipino?
Catahoula x bull arab is the best looking dog I have ever seen
Mine is smart and twice as hard headed ..
Catahula Aussie mix here also, wonderful dog
Sadly ppl aren’t breeding them for being a catch dog they had a job
This honestly explains so much. I’d never heard of these guys before and now I finally know what my dog is.
I had to put my Catahoula mix dog, Mojo, to sleep today. I burried him by his shady spot in the yard
I’m very sorry for ur loss. I know u must miss him. Hang in there. Time helps.
So sorry to hear about your loss
I had to put mine down years ago. Still havent gotten another dog. Still miss him.
Richard Burgess I’m so sorry. The day before Christmas I had to put my partner of 16 years down.
I’m sorry I am so late, I just saw your comment and I am very sorry for your loss, I love the breed.
Best dog. I love my Catahoula
We love our 15 year old Catahoula girl Tule...best friend we’ve ever had ❤️
I just want to say to anybody that took the time to leave a thumbs down or a negative comment you are truly hollow individuals this lady is wonderful this video is very informative and the dogs are beautiful
Those dogs are absolutely stunning looking!
I have one in the brindle leopard coat he just turned 8 best dog I've ever had. I highly recommend the breed.
Mine just lays in the sun all day ,chews up extension cords and steals my flower pots and eats my flowers
give the dog more work.
Donovan Fulton 😂
Run that boy. My dog runs three miles a day!! Goes homes and SLEEPS

That’s awesome tonya unfortunately I got a broken one who’s been bred to be lazy and grump
I have a six month catahoula! Amazing amazing dog. He's going to be on the larger side but he is absolutely down for anything. His first time to the river he just docs right in. He's ok with strangers but always looks to me for the ok. Gets along very well with my older dog and is kind of just a goofy dog. Love em!
The multicolored coats are stunning!
i got a catahoula lepord dog about a year ago for hunting and protection at home, and i would never want another bread. she has been the easeyst dog to train so smart. also a very good family dog if your active. my single catahoula pulls a dog sled in the winter and the sled is 30 or 40 lbs my littel girl is 40lbs and im 155lbs my catahoula pulls ìt all day. never seen a dog so drivin to work.
Grant Lawrence . Sounds like the raising and loving have a bit to do with how they turn out. You must be a good dog person.
We have one. He is so awesome. So smart. So loving. Ours is well socialized, but he will stand up for himself. He’s a tough guy. Love him to death !!!!
I have a catahoula dog. She's beautiful 😍 and I wouldn't take a million pound for her. She's beautiful and amazing and loves children.
Hello Sharon how are you doing today.
My catahoulas are amazing. They keep me up and going all day. Loyal, sweet and amazing.
We are on our third Catahoula. LOVE these dog! They are truly fantastic. Wonderful with kids.
Hello 👋
I got my first Catahoula in 1983 in the Big Bend area of Texas . He was a great dog who loved to run my 15 miles feed run. Chase coyotes, and was fearless when it came to hunting javalinas . I even used him when bird hunting as a retriever. They are so smart and quick to learn it's amazing. Good video.
I never realized how nice this dog is
I'm so glad you showcase the lesser-known breeds. I would've thought these were the Short-haired Pointers. Great job!
I have a beautiful Catahoula male named Bentley. He is awesome, I am so happy that I adopted him 8 years ago. He goes everywhere with me.
My catahoula is the best dog ever. So loyal and cute. He's a quad colored one. Black, brown, white, and grey.
My catahoula is an absolute sweetheart. I’m not going to any other breed. He is so smart and funny and def wants to be by my side 24/7.
Dogs like these need that extra love!!!
Best dog I've ever owned
We got our first Catahoula two and a half years ago. Abby worked out so well. We fell in love with the breed. So we got another one. Very different personalities and very different body types. Abby has the greyhound body type. Annie has the body type of the red wolf. They are beautiful.
Hello Janett how are you doing today.
Grand puppies? I pray to god your kids aren’t offended by the comparison haha

Ive seen my catahoula climb trees, anybody else have a crazy dog?
Victor Langton totally!
Oh yes
Mine climbs trees, tries to climb telephone poles, catches and kills coyotes, hunts squirrels and brings 1200 pound bulls to their knees with a killer nose hold. I love my Catahoulas. Oh yeah, don’t break in my house either, especially at night. Excellent guard dogs. And she’s wrong. Catahoulas do catch. Don’t take my word for it. RUclips Catahoula hog dogs.
Yes my staffy can't go past a tree without jumping on the highest branch and hang on for ages it's getting a bit much now lol
I have a mountain cur and yes she does!
I have one and he is a amazing dog. Very smart and loyal. Not like other breeds I’ve had before.
Hello Shannon how are you doing today.
Hello Rose how are you doing today.
My first dog was half catahoula and he was such a good boy and I was apart of his pack I miss him dearly
My dream dog, I love the black ones with blue eyes. When my kids are grown, I will adopt one.
We adopted one about 8 months ago. She's black and white, her eyes are blue and look like glass. She was abused badly by her previous owner, but she is the sweetest and most loyal dog. ❤️
I just adopted a Catahoula/heeler mix. She is absolutely AMAZING.
She said "Red Woof" confidently. Lmfao 😂
OddJohn That was making me nuts! And she kept saying it.
Ok what's wrong with her saying that. Its in there. Y all clearly know nothing about these dogs
People in different regions speak differently, big deal. Its no reason to be a jerkoff.
it’s her accent?? we gonna make fun of accents now?
Louisiana accent.
One of the funniest things I ever seen was a Catahoula and a Chihuahua arguing over a bone
I have an awesome 7 week old 5 litter
My wife wants to keep them ALL!
lol
I've raised German Shepherd and Boston Terrier.
NO COMPARISON!!!
These dogs connect.
That's amazing! Are you looking for homes?
We would love a puppy my girl loves pups and can use a friend she doesn't have to be cautious about. I have a 9 year old female who is use to having 2 smaller dogs around.
Had one years ago, black with grey specks, he was a graceful beautiful sweet animal. All dog.
My Catahoula is sitting in my lap she is a very very good dog. A very smart dog I love her so much
I read they are Leaners. Yes! My Catahoula mix leans into me and jumps up on me on recliner to hug... lap dog :)
My Lilith is the best dog I’ve ever had. She’s the sweetest. Smartest girl ever. They’re so playful and loving. She wakes me up in the morning throwing her head by mine and her whole body on me to love her. Catahoula dogs are the only way to go.
Beautiful dogs. Love the varieties of coat and eye color.
I have a 2 year old named beaux. He is the sweetest most fun loving animal. With that being said he’s the most stubborn, hard headed animal I have ever owned
I have a Florida Cur. Very similar instincts as the catahoula. These Miscellaneous dogs are the best.
I love my catahoula!! Very beautiful and loyal breed!!
IMHO all dogs need to work to be happy. The task doesn't need to be crazy, just fulfilling.
I met a female trucker, she has a beautiful Catahoula with her in the truck. 1 of the sweetest doggies I have ever met! 🐶🐾
I like this lady and her dogs fantastic!
Love my pup McCoy, and will never purchase another breed but Catahoula. But if your not active then don't bother buying one.
Too late and no one's that active they only need about 1 1/2 hours..
Oh boy!!! Are you ever right about that...Older people should be advised not to get one.....
whoops i’m a lazy person (mostly cause my life has just been boring after my previous shollie got put down) and accidentally adopted a catahoula puppy. she’s annoying and howly/whiny but i’m sure i can adapt to her needs.
@@faith-cv2ul if you, can't adapt please make sure goes to a good family home take care all the best
Her catahoulas are beautiful

Good athletic looking dog
Literally never disappointed by a video by ya'll. Buddy of mine has a Catahoula, now I really want one and this taught me a lot. Keep it up!
Hey I want a catahoula do you think them having web feet make them slow?
