Things are not black and white. To answer your question of "which one is it," the answer is BOTH. He is trying to reform the country, yes, but he is also authoritarian, has jailed Sheikhs, killed journalists, and will jail anyone who speaks against him.
Overall, he is pushing Saudi Arabia towards a more "progressive" and "liberal" legal system and culture, but he is doing it through authoritarian means. Situations are often complex, so don't be surprised that this is not straight forward.

I don't belong to Saudi Arabia but working in Saudi Arabia since a long time and think this man will be better for future of Saudi Arabia
In India every non-Muslim and all liberal Muslim loves MBS 🙏🙏
“dangerous” is a very easy word to throw around
Hahahaha, bro, making a 14 minute documentary about how dangerous is MBS isn't going to help you make him sell his oil & gas to you. Feels like this documentary was made by a rebellious child after his father didn't get him what he wanted.
It was made by a bunch of journalists who lost one of their own (someone they knew personally) when MBS decided to order his henchman to dismember the man with a bone saw. That's who made it.
@@lashlarue7924 cope harder bro 🤣🤣
@@lashlarue7924 look at you commenting everywhere so desperately. I have a feeling you and the 'jounalists' at the Economist wouldn't say the same about Shirin Abu Akleh. You hypocrites.
@@yusrisaadun5497 I am not your brother.
@@lashlarue7924 okay let's say that one journalist ... What the western media doesn't cover the death of thousands if peacful journalist by Israeli army ... Try harder
When you see the Economist is documenting Against MBS, you can assume the honeymoon days of west and saudi is on the verge of collapse.
noo SA is based
eh dunno. The whole Kashoggi affair has been extensively documented by pretty mcuh everyone. If anything the West seems to be impressed by the fact Saudi Arabia has modernized so mcuh in its politics... That's one of the points covered in this video. Besides, if the West were to ditch Saudi Arabia, who could come into replace it? The answer is simple, nobody.
Its been happening for awhile since Obama was president

Saudi Arabia will remain a crucial country for the US geopolitical hegemony over the middle east. However I think the US is only after MBS. And perhaps the US is planning to make a palace coup to replace MBS with another royal dictator but someone that does not embarrass the hypocrite US political establishment.
A seemingly Atheist leader is ruling the holiest land of Islam today 😂👌 👏 MBS
When you have the great power, there will always be people who do envy you...
The man is clever and brave no wonder why Western media attacks him🤣🤣
Yeah right so the glass is half empty
like this video ,
So I'm no fan of the Saudis, but why doesn't doesn't economist do a piece on " how perenially dangerous the US Govt is " the fact remains, every conflict in the world has the fingerprints of thr US govt in them. So basically, stop being hypocritical and do some actual and unbiased journalism
Do you know who the economist belongs to ?
@@clincpb8903 yes. I'm calling it out
@@clincpb8903 Right, yeah? any media left that isn’t government? I mean, they literary talk here about a journalist who was supposedly killed by MBS and no words about the whole freaking country having no independent journalism whatsoever :(
They won’t, don’t hold your breath
Who stopped Israel, France and Great Britain in 60's and during Yom Kippur War. We welcome many muslims as citizens every year. Mainly from Pakistan, but also from Iraq, Yemen, Afghanistan, Egypt and a few from every other Arab country.
6 kids is not big to western standards we have people claiming benefits for 21 kids 😅
They need to stop bashing him. He’s a great man and his country have some of the nicest people.
Why this documentary is made now? With not even one interview of MBS included? Whatever happens within KSA, stays in KSA. Why should the Economist be bothered?
15 of the hijackers in 9/11 attacks were from Saudi Arabia.
Because what happened in Vegas doesn’t stay in Vegas anymore, the whole world saw everything and what more funnier is they keep continuing on the same direction and the same ideology 👎🏻
Maybe we'll take a piece of the cake in the future 🤔
Vested interests and Business As Usual to the west's interests have been interrupted by MBS... Simple....
Cause the world is fu**ed
The west will never understand how it feels to have a leader that everyone loves and supports, when the whole country is united and have faith in their leader.
We are very proud of MBS🤍
I have been living in saudi Arabia since 8 years.....and what i have seen is the growth without any dangers specially for women....long live saudi arabia😇

It's common sense here, GCC has nothing except oil, why sell that cheap when u can get more profit?
