Had the same pleasant surprise recently when I bought an UG Canon Zoom lens. Thought it was mis-marked! Definitely will buy more UG lenses in the future from KEH
🎉 both of you were lucky, usually fungus is to be found
Green ranger from art primo?? So cool to see you into photography! Would love to see some pictures
Yoooo it’s the green ranger!!!!!
It was short quick and useful
Wow excellent, could you possible review the 70-300 DO, I have my eye on one to purchase. Thanks!
I shine a flashlight through the opposite side of lenses I am inspecting to see actual condition of each lens.
artprimo guy? Dude you are awesome!
I was under the impression that front element removal requires calibration??
Just curious, how were the lenses listed? what did they describe the condiition why they were UG listed? When I see haze or fungus on a lens i just keep looking...
I live about 5 minutes from KEH and get all my gear from there--BUT--BUT--BUT...when it comes to ugly grade on lenses, I have been burned 2x. I ordered a 20mm Nikon D series lens and it had glue between two elements and was unusable. Even if you are in store picking up your item, they will not accept a return on an ugly item they literally just put in your hand. They DO NOT disclose what the actual issue is with the lens in the description or when you finally get to examine it. Usually, the issue is haze. But if the issue is leaking oil inside the lens or fungus--you are out of luck. THe other ugly lens I bought was a Pentac 18-135 zoom. MAssive fungus inside and it destroyed image quality. Two paperweights I took a risk on and lost about $300. Stick to Bargain and above at KEH.
I would imagine you could get a cheap ultrasonic cleaner, disassemble, and fix the issue if you really wanted that discount though
@@cwill6491 no--that doesn't work. lens elements are glued together. dissolve that glue and the lens can never be put back together. Again--they could easily disclose the issue as MPB does on their site. I only buy lenses from MPB now because they accept returns on everything , show pictures of the actual item AND disclose fungus, haze or scratches.
Hi. Have you taken any images with this yet ? Any remorse after further time ? Thanks.
Prefer nicks than fungus or haze. Score!
If you ever saw the equipment that major newspaper photographers used, you would know the answer.
you didn't price the 70-300?
$101, look at 1:14 in the video
