- ~80000 ton campaign-compatible battlecruiser in Highfleet 1.16
Back with something a bit smaller this time around, the Kodiak is an all-in-one flagship capable of supporting you throughout your campaign. With a strong artillery armament, sensor suite, up to 7 aircraft and 3 missile silos you have all you might need onboard.
Just watch out when coming in for repairs - She's not the easiest one to land.
Credit to my friend Mantha for coming up with the name.

What? A Highfleet video at more than 13 fps?
Here's a battlecruiser that you can get right from the start of the game, albeit with no money to spare.
While not an invincible death brick/instant win button, this ship along with putting some care into planning your actions will get you very far.
And it silent strikes garrisons if you go at night. Somehow.

If you shatter everybody's eardrums while they sleep, technically it's silent now
Жаль что в этой игре нет возможности стрелять орудиями не заходя на поле боя. Уверен его пушечная батарея уничтожила бы врага ещё на подлёте.
Wait so u do a beefed up moon lander style then just fight forever? Try to understand the concept of the game
So, I really want to use it but any time I replace the Sevastopol my game instantly ends. Got any solution to that?
@@minimurder2832 Uh, that shouldn't happen. Are you replacing the Sevastopol's file or? Because you can just load it as a standalone ship and it'll be marked as a flagship for you to use.

I knew it was gonna be good when I saw the ship was too large to fit on the battle preview.
Also CWIS not only can hit missiles, but can also hit other shells! Very handy when you have ships with overwhelming dakka but move like a brick
This is recorded in 1.16 where not only does the AI use more ASM's, both missiles and shells become harder to shoot down with CIWS to the point that it's better to save your 37mm bursts for a higher chance of taking a missile out rather than trying to neutralize incoming shells(since the hit/destruction chance post-patch is incredibly low).
I've purposefully included the fact that im selecting incendiary CIWS ammunition before combat shown here, as the special ammo increases the damage against missiles and shells significantly which has a major effect on survivability.

Well to each of their own - I classed it based on it's relative tonnage aswell as speed and armor.

@@Mariner797 Well it outspeeds all strike groups and transports, and strikes fast enough for enemy garrisons to not have time to raise the alarm if under the cover of night(it's spotted visually during the day most of the time), so I would say yes, relatively speaking it's quite fast for it's tonnage.

^ That's how the Kodiak from CnC looks, you can instantly tell the similarities between the small bridge sticking up in the middle, and the large thruster sections on the side. That's why so many of us old CnC players are instantly thinking it's a Kodiak reference, especially when you've accidentally given it the exact same name XD Heck, even your described role for the vessel fits the CnC Kodiak.
Also, most Kodiaks lounge around in the upper atmo where even Nod Missles have a hard time tapping. Yes, they can but any missle that is capable of doing so also instantly ends up on GDI's hit list. A-SAT system makes surface to orbit strikes worse as you can expect near immeadiate Ion Cannon retaliation doing so.
Looks sick! Now trying winning a campaign with this regardless of difficulty

Welcome back commander.
Beautiful and what I assume to be very expensive 😅
Just expensive enough to take all your money at the start of the game, but you actually get to use it in campaign mode.
Dude, epic. Well done, I'm going to give this beast a go
The sounddesign is awsome!
The UI on this game is insane
Highfleet is ridiculously immersive with the way its UI integrates with gameplay. The few parts of the UI that could be artificial are still very believable - such as the green lines over the landing gear and landing pads looking like the holographic displays many military aircraft have.
I got my face kicked hard when I design big ships:
Not all landing areas support flat platforms like they did in this video
I've tried to out-do myself since there's someone managed to design an enormous _'BattleStar'_ (BSG), so I did a same. Worked wondrous during simulations, but inadvertently the hardest during landing 😭
thats a mad ship!!! love it!
That was... Glorious!
This looks amazing
I wasn't surprised that it turns out all types of ships In highfleet fueled with ordinary gas/oil not nuclear
Nuclear on a flying machine... And under what power do you intend lifting all the lead/concrete shielding? Also, you could only power turbines which created lift from compressing air because nuclear is mostly a glorified steam generator, burning gas on that front is way more efficient.
Airfoil designs are much more plausible and they have been tried IRL, but the issue of weight remains.
@@cdgonepotatoes4219 all of the ships in the lore use air breathing nuclear ramjets, the methane is just propellant
they *are* nuclear, the methane is just propellant
@@cdgonepotatoes4219 the larger it gets the better nuclear would be from a fuel weight standpoint alone. Just how much fuel you think an aircraft carrier would burn staying aloft hmm?
This just popped up in my recommended, and all I have to say is....
I'm Interested.
The game's linked in the description so yeah, definitely worth checking out.
always interesting seeing things my hometown's name gets attached to
Alright, alright you convinced me. I'll get the game.
I don't know if you were inspired or came up with this design overtime but your friend is a chad (if it was on purpose lol) naming this after the ship in C&C Tiberian Sun. I thought you had it as your thumbnail at first.
The fps jump from 8 months ago makes me go AHHH 😌
To be clear, no computer configuration(both videos were recorded on an OC'd I7-9700K and RTX 3080Ti) changed here.
The ship's just smaller.
I like how this thing has flares on it, like the idea that a flare could out heat that gigantic ship.
Missiles have fairly narrow tracking cones, so if you dump a lot of flares and then use the ship's high TWR to quickly dodge, the missile can be left tracking the flares where the ship once was, rather than the actual ship. (Im not really utilizing that here as im focusing more on directing the guns and CIWS - with a ship this large you need to be wary of colliding with other vessels and also keeping your firing arcs optimal, which leaves your typical evasive flying you'd do with a lightning out.)
*Courageous* ⛔️
*Single-use small volley protector* ✅
-How much fuel did the landing use?
-Yes!
If you had to build that from scratch, kudos to you man! I can only imagine the amount of time you had to spend to make it.
If it were imported via community creations, kudos all the same
I miss the CnC Kodiak from back then 😂.
I am the author of the ship, built it in one sitting from scratch - took around 3 hours for the general design and about 2h for tweaks (I remember it being around 8pm-1am).
@@PineCone227_ Dedication man, dedication 🎉
That landing was nerve wracking
That aint no flagship, that's the whole damn fleet.
Sounds like a worthy flagship to me :p
Support ships are still useful to have with you though. You never know when your carelessness puts you between 2 strike groups in missile range and you need a second carrier as the Kodiak's complement of aircraft can't intercept every strategic munition thrown at you from 2 different bearings.
That landing.....OOOF
One notable weakness is that this ship can eat much more shells due to its large size (specifically, length). Other than that I just wonder about the repairs, fuels, and other logistical stuff. Regardless, I'd love to sail the darn thing, especially because it looks very similar to a C&C GDI Kodiak.
NOTE: Haven't played the game but videos kept poured in after I had Tanc a Lelek on repeat, so I did see a thing or two about ships in Highfleet.
"Fire reverse thrusters!"
"Sir we've been firing reverse thrusters for 300 meters now."
"W-what?"
"Yeah she's still falling."
Using maximum reheat thrust with the fire suppression system acting as additional engine cooling allows for a much higher rate of deceleration or even aborting descent outright, but is unadvised by maintenance crews for the strain it puts on the Kodiak's engines. As such it's only utilized when performing evasive maneuvers in combat when no other option will suffice.
Besides, the crew tends to complain when they get pushed into the ground at several G over standard gravity
Very cool
Kane dislikes👎 😂😁🤣 James Earl Jones is probably proud though. Makes me want to build a Mammoth Mk2 on a mech game.

Skip to 1:44 in the video, lots more than landing happening there ;)
Highfleet is a strategy game at the core, but recording the strategic map wouldn't serve well to demonstrate the capability of a ship design, so my videos focus on the parts where you control the ship directly - during combat and landing sequences.
The reason so many comments refer to the seemingly banal act of setting the ship down on the ground is because it's very much an inside joke within the community that getting your ships into the docks without damage is exceedingly hard. I never found this the case, but someone not used to flight mechanics in simulation games might struggle.

Its cannons fire must feel like being in range of ASB from FTL even for bigger vessels.
FTL's ASB gives you a while of warning before your ship is hit.
First you detect it locking in, then you're warned about a successful lock, and even after it fires you have a handful of seconds of "shells incoming" to get out of the way before finally it punches a hole in your hull.
Not so much with the Kodiak - automatic 180mm's give no warning and the travel time to target is not very long.
