As always, great lesson Coach Simon! The explanation was perfect and very easy to pick up. I tried these techniques on court, and they work amazingly! Thanks a lot!
Making sure to keep the tossing hand up and tossing high enough will also help prevent serves from going into the net. The sidespin serve is fairly easy to hit and gives good net clearance.
My biggest struggle now is to hit the ball cleanly in the center. A good toss and keeping the eye on the ball longer help but when I use more spin I often frame the serve
Dropping the head too early is a major problem for many players. I do it myself sometimes when tight. Tracking that ball coming off the strings is key 🔑
Great lesson Simon. I am using a platform stance and generally following the Sampras checkpoints of rocking the weight back and forth: (1) Start with weight on front foot, (2) Shift all the weight to back foot, (3) Raise the tossing arm and heels and "sit" on the imaginary chair just in front of the baseline. The first two steps work fine but not clear on the third step. When I "sit" on the chair, where should I think of the weight being distributed? Weight mainly on the back foot? Mainly on front foot? Or is weight about evenly distributed on both feet?
A couple of things I experimented with and found helpful for me with the toss. You want to be smooth and relax during the toss, and to do that you can use breathing. Inhale as you toss and exhale as you swing, but breath in a relax manner, not force. Secondly, I align the tossing arm with where my front foot point, and usually, it points toward the net post, so I guess you can use the net post to align your tossing arm. Thirdly, you release the ball at eye level, so my trick is I look at the spot where I am supposed to release the ball. Of course you also have to do all the other things, like keeping the tossing arm straight, having smooth movement up, holding the ball in your palm the right way, and open up the palm at point of release the right way, etc... I am not touching these because they had been taught many times by many coaches.
The toss is definitely key to a consistent serve. On e of my favorite tips for a consistent toss is to think of releasing the ball up instead of throwing it up to contact point.
Hi Simon, When I’m practicing my serve I have no problems, but when I’m serving in a match I tend to accelerate in my mechanics (due to the pressure) and then I lost my rythm in my serve, How can I solve this?
Hi Simon, I am getting 60-70% First serves in. Basically try to get the first serve in hard to the backhand on the Ad side and accidentally hit the aggressive yellow target shown at 5:02 about 4 times a match. To be clear, I am not aiming at that aggressive target -- just aiming generally to opponent's backhand side. It is almost always an ace. I thought it was just luck but then noticed that most other players at my level never hit that spot. Does this mean I likely have some innate ability that can be developed with practice to hit this target more often and on purpose? Or perhaps I should just be content with getting the random five aces a match. Also note that if I try to intentionally hit that corner area it almost never happens. 😆

Happy to hear it, thanks for the support
Why can’t coach Simon slow down his serve examples (slow motion) so we can see the visual from his lectures?
Class 🌟🎾. My toss needs a lil bit of work. I have to work on consistently tossing the ball in front of my body 👍
Good luck with the improvements

Thanks a lot for the free serve guide. Will keep in touch about the progress.
Excellent advice and in a very straight forward fashion. Thank you very much.
Thanks for watching 👍
Great advices from coach SIMON 👍🏻🎾❤️
Many thanks 🙏
Visualising the serve before you actually serve
That's a great point. Will try to do so.
Good luck with the improvements 👍
Great job there simplified and easy to follow.
Many thanks 🙏
Such practical advice, TY
Many thanks 🙏
Thanks a lot for your explanation !
2:53 those kick serves are INSANE, the ball seem to bounce up as high as 3 meters...
🤣
great video i have a good serve and it is pretty consitent most of the time but i want it more contsistant
Good luck with the improvements 👍
helped me a lot, thank you
Thanks for watching
hi Simon! Thanx! i have a question: how do you toss in the direct sunlight?
You can adjust the toss slightly, either to the right or left, you can also use the tossing hand to block it when you reach the trophy position
Great vid i think i habe a pretty massive serve for my level and too often i‘m expecting an ace or unreturned which makes me way less consistent..
Good luck with the improvements 👍
Great content as always! By the way, have you recently measured the speed of your serve Simon?
Thanks for the support 🙏
Haven’t had the chance to measure it, I’d like to know myself how fast I’m hitting them now
@@TopTennisTrainingOfficial I guess between 175-185kph.
Thanks Simon
Thanks for watching 👍
Great lesson. Thank you. If you are near San Diego, I want to take a serve lesson with you. Thank you.
I think it is so important to keep loosen and relax and free your mind and muscles. Imagine how to launch a rocket.
👍
Simon, around how fast are your first serves? Do you consistently serve ~120 mph?
I have no idea, would love to get on a court with radar to test it
What about the toss? I feel the toss is 80% of serve consistency! If the toss is off, you can do everything else correct and the serve won't go in.

Without seeing that serve it’s impossible for me to say, but it sounds as though you should develop it more and use targets in practice 👍
Can i khnow where are you from yr academy
We don’t have an academy, we are based in the UK but often hold clinics around the world
If my shoulder/upper back behind my service arm is hurting after a serve practice session, what are some stretches I can do to alleviate the pain?
Shoulder and upper back stretches
Stretching after serve practice has helped me a lot. Lots of RUclips videos …
i'm tired of hitting the ball just long or just into the tape. so aggravating.
Increase your margins slightly and you'll be fine
I see palms there ? Izmir or Antalya ?
Alanya
I think myself of federer not roddick when going for serve😂
what do you mean, i am andy roddick!
Lmao the best tip: stop thinking you’re Andy Roddick
🤣
Did a child paint those tennis court lines?
No, a drunk groundsman did
