I feel bad because 2 of the goals were straight up because the cramping. I couldn’t crouch on goal 5 because my legs were on fire, and goal 4 (not shown) I couldn’t push off the post to slide across. Goal 1 I couldn’t figure out why it scored until I saw the video. Dude took my eyes away right as he shot. I knew he was shooting but had no idea where and thought I had the whole side covered. Goal 2 my stick hit the outside post and stopped an easy save. Goal 3 I don’t know how that scored, I had the angle and I can’t see that it hit anything to change a wide shot but it went in. It was frustrating because you guys played great and that was a winnable game.
Not sure why this video didn't pop up in my RUclips feed. Not sure how i missed it. Time off from skating can make strapping the pads back on pretty tough. Looked like you forgot to hook up your suspenders...lol. That probably didn't help things. You made some great saves. That Mutiny team looked pretty fast. You held your ground in your crease very well. Made some good stick saves. Really sucked you were having cramping issues. That must be awful to try and play through. Thought you played a good game. Way to fight through that pain and stick with it.
I drink at least 3 large cups of coffee a day or I get a head ache. Typically I play Saturday mornings so I'll have a cup on the way to the game and hydrate before and finish my coffee after the game. This was a 10:45pm game on a Monday and I did everything but hydrate and eat well. Then it was the first game in a month in a higher league against the first place team so I told the team I was subbing for that they are really scraping the bottom of the barrel if they wanted me but desperate times call for desperate measures. That being said I let 2 goals in for leg cramping, 1 off camera and goal 5 I really couldn't crouch and get set so was standing when he shot. The team played great in front of me, If it wasn't for those 2 it was a 3-2 game.
@@NerdrageHockeyit's hard for us goalies not to overthink goals against. Knowing we should have had a particular shot or having certain expectations of our own play in any given skate. Physical limitations, physical exhaustion from work, and even our daily food intake most definitely impacts our play. Sucks to be out there and not be able to perform up to our usual expectation for ourselves, but it happens to all of us. Don't be too hard on yourself. Your play wasn't bad. Get 'em next time.
@@JackMuren Thanks Jack! On bright side I am 2% more mobile in the new skates. I watched a video saying to keep your chest big, my paddle down style doesn't do this so I am making a consciouse effort to keep a big chest lately. Not as evident in this game but my other game I did a much better job at it, but it changes my balance, not so much weight forward actually makes it a lot easier to slide and the toes actually dig into the ice with the new skates. There is a spot in this game where I over slide 0:42, honestly the first time I have ever done that.
@@NerdrageHockey absolutely. Glad to hear the new skates have been helpful. Your upper body positioning has a lot to do with your sliding. Good to hear you are making progress in your game.
The added weight doesn't help. Holiday season wasn't nice to my belt line and no hockey meant no excersize. I actually own an elipticle trainer but it's in the garage and it's cold in there.
Did that one around 3:15 bounce off the crossbar?! I loved that save around 5:45. About cramping ... I use LMNT or Nuun in my bottle and never cramp. LMNT is for hard games and practices, Nuun for easier-going stuff (LMNT has a lot of salt in it).
3:15 when I saw it come off his stick I knew it was going high but then it arc'd over me while I was flailing wildly, which is my goalie style, hit the crossbar and over! 5:45 as the pass came across I was sure I was doomed, he managed to hit the one spot that I was covering so I thanked him. I typically have some Liquid Hydration (or what ever it is called bought from CostCo) for after the game. I have a mental thing about water during the game as I think I can feel it slosh around. I know it is mental but I rarely bring water. I need to get over that though, and get less fat.
I peaked at 6'2" but as I have grown older I shrunk. Just under 6'2". I tell the guys I am not good, just big. Take up a lot of net. Like that plastic goalie you put up when no goalies show up for drop in. Although I think he has less holes than I do.
Thanks for being in the pipes for us Paul. We'll gettem next time.

Good game! Nothing worse than when the leg cramping sets in. I've been there a few times and it's not fun!

How tall are you? You look about 6'5+

penalty at 4:53? haha
The hilarious part it you were telling him not to fall there, while making him fall there.
