How does BER ge taway with having so few security desks operating? It's taking longer and longer to get through security. Much as I love visiting Berlin I'm seriously contemplating finding somewhere else to go on holiday because of the continual lengthy time it takes to get through security. Frustrating to queue for 45 minutes to an hour and find half the security scanners/desks are closed. Also on the last few occasions I have arrived there from outside the Shengen area there have only been 2 desks open for immigration leading to lengthy queues on arrival

Just make sure you are not first off the plane, have someone to follow although it's well signposted and in German and English. When you clear formalities and get into the terminal area, head left and there is a tourist information office past the convenience store and fast food outlet
Hiya, there’s nothing to worry about at all. Once you get your boarding pass, either through online check-in or through the counters, the particular gate to depart from is shown on it. You can alternatively ask from airport attendants who are always willing to help.
It depends on the airline and whether or not you are flying within the Shengen area. It's well signposted in German and English; if you're heading outside the Shengen area you have to go through "exit" formalities and the layout changed between December 2023 and April 2024

You’re right! Have observed that as well. I think they want the internet to shake with bad complaints before they something about it.😡
