I once worked for a CB and other radio sales/service company in Minnesota. So, when the new 40 channel units came out my uncle stanly(multi millionare successful farmer now passed on) asked me. Are those e f johnson 123a 23 channel cb radios any good. I said, as good as any of them. He took his chevy half ton pickup to the factory in wasika, mn. and made a deal on a whole truck full. it was hundreds of new radios, So what they are only 23 channel(I still have one in the original box). he had cb radios on everything and everywhere, so did his neighbor farmers. They could chat and call home any time. really was an improvement. Never fixed any, if one developed a problem just bust open a new box and go. now we all have cellphones, what a wonderful thing they are.
I feel like this video has a lot to do with Father's Day, so I let my dad watch it. He watched the video and look at me and said "you've seen that look before haven't you?" Talking about the look your dad gave you when you got home. I said yes and we had a good laugh. I'll be a 4th generation farmer so I'm sure one day I'll be giving my future son one of those looks as he hopefully becomes the 5th generation. Happy Father's Day Wes
OLF I always love story time there brilliant. I do be watching and no matter the story wether it us funny or if it is about yoyr farming life or your beloced Grandmother as a Farmer in Ireland I have always been able to relate to them. keep up the good work
yes I love story time. you should do a story time once a week cuz I'm sure you have plenty of stories growing up on a farm and be in the badass you are hahaha
Blazer02LS we use two way radios on our farm... epsecially in the combine and auger wagon tractors... sometimes it can take 30 seconds to connect with the cell phone but its instant with two ways and cbs
Ben M. also its just easier for us. we have 5 guys driving tractors and trucks in the spring fall and cbs just keep everyone on the same page without several phone calls
Wes what speed are you baling at? just watching how fast the scenery is moving there you seem to moving a lot faster with the JD 8530 operating the Krone baler than you were with the 8120 operating the Krone!
Wes, that JD 8530 just rock & rolls along pulling that Krone baler, you must be as happy as a pig in shit as that old saying goes with the performance and output of your 8530 and Krone baler combo!
wess..I think most of farm boys had that experience…some times a good butt spanking ,other times it was a added '' most often needless chore'' ever waxed a complete combine, it sure shines….thanks for stories they take us back to a far away time.. Dads 93, moms 92. but mom could make a spanking stick out of anything.
With all the dumb things we did as kids you have to wonder how the we made it as adult. So far I have made it to age 72 and doing fine. I hope the same for you.
if someone came to ur farm and asked if you would feed them in exchange for a xays work..... what would ur answer be? As i was watching this.... a family member and i wondered that.... Im live in Arizona and we were jyst curious about farmer mentality... thank you
my only story is once me and another of my brothers planted the idea in one of my little brothers the idea to pee on a fence knob to see a little blue spark. of course little brothers gonna believe it... It was funny as crap to watch but we didnt think he was gonna do it. you guessed it he got hit with that 50,000 volts from that fence controller
Us farm/ranch kids always had to "pay" for our fun!! LOL (you got off pretty easy) KIDDING, your dad must have been a hard ass....but look at how successful you are now!!!!!!
We just called them birds in school because everybody giggled whenever the gym teacher called them shuttlecocks. Besides, I was just making a joke, you don't have to take it so seriously.;)
Yea Story time with westly, they kid have it easy. How may kid get spank when where growing up.You talking about getting a whoopin you made my butt hit think about those day Happy Father Day westly
When I was 12 I was taken to our south farm to plant barley and same thing happened was Dad need to get more seed and he took the tandem , this farm was 20miles from home and 8miles to the nearest farm yard and it was in the 80's as well . I waited there for 12hrs and then my Grandpa picked me up dad had gotten back with the seed and started another job and forgotten me. I was not happy I wish I had a friend to play with but if I would've left I would've been beaten
you know what my friend you just explain to me why you have the values you have absolutely nothing wrong with that I was brought up with the same values branded into me which to me is better than the snowflakes of today
That's a good story Wes. The older folks had a way with getting their point across. Happy Fathers Day and keep them wheels turning.
I've got a few stories like that. My mother had the same eyes your pop did... they would make you cower and fear for your life! Happy fathers day!

great story I had similar experiences myself now I know the other side and understand why Dad reacted that way
Your tractor makes beautiful sounds, me like!
sounds like any old school dad passing along great traits to the younger generation
Great story. Today the judge would most likely have gotten your dad for making you plant the oats after dark.
Work, and not play. That's the fate of farm kids. But what a great life.
Ad van der Velden it is was play
time for us the pride of been trusted to do it. know the town kids could barely cycle a bike 😄
I know, I'm a farm kid and worked in my childhood. And i loved it.
Hey Wesley Happy Fathers Day Buddy !!!
yes I love story time. you should do a story time once a week cuz I'm sure you have plenty of stories growing up on a farm and be in the badass you are hahaha
awesome story
Good story. I was noticing the nice windrows, are they from the pequea rake? I am thinking of getting a mcr10, would you recommend it?
you don't realize your burned out till it hits you, suddenly
Yep, that tractor does have a bit of a whine compared to your other machines. Probably easy enough to get used to and not hear if you are in it.
are you going to get cb radios for the tractors?
Why cell phones exist...
yakyakyak69 cause cbs are way cooler that's why lol
Blazer02LS we use two way radios on our farm... epsecially in the combine and auger wagon tractors... sometimes it can take 30 seconds to connect with the cell phone but its instant with two ways and cbs
Tim Westendorf agreed, some areas can have some pretty piss poor reception
Ben M. also its just easier for us. we have 5 guys driving tractors and trucks in the spring fall and cbs just keep everyone on the same page without several phone calls

wess..I think most of farm boys had that experience…some times a good butt spanking ,other times it was a added '' most often needless chore'' ever waxed a complete combine, it sure shines….thanks for stories they take us back to a far away time..
