How do you tell? One thing i realised about Uniqlo is the cutting. 10 years ago, it was good fit. The cutting is now irregular, and quality i feel, has gone down. The jeans etc
I would recommend researching blogs and youtube channels like Cee Are Dee. Selvedge is just the finishing process on the jeans seams and stitching. That doesn't really mean the fabric will be quality nor cover the various other options (raw, dying, twill, organic cotton, washed, treatment, source of the mill especially if it is essentially deadstock fabric, etc). But even relaxed jeans (might be called a straight or even classic straight fit) can be different for each brand as some have vanity sizing. I would recommend also buying places with an easy exchange policy so if they don't fit you can exchange them with the tags on. Also reading and knowing the effects of shrinkage vs stretching when washing. Some recommendations: Gap Made in USA 1969 Premium High Rise Straight Jeans, Lee 101 Z Relaxed Fit, WRANGLER 27406 MEN'S RIGID SELVEDGE STRAIGHT LEG JEAN. If you are looking for more variation in colors and fabric then Naked & Famous Denim is reasonably priced. Although like I said various fits and the measuring guide is important. But some of their pairs are available on Zappos and Amazon making for easier returns. Plus their youtube channel you can see a quick overview of the release. There are many other brands like Tellason, Stovall and Young, RRL, Bravestar, Gustin, Levi's etc but I'm not really into cuffing my jeans nor paying to get them hemmed.
Hemming was a bonus indeed but wish they use a thicker threads like the original too. Perhaps that was only my local Uniqlo. Dissappointed to see 3 of my jeans that I got altered has a thin threads used.
I think they only do what you bought from their own store sadly……….but what I did in the end was to get my own secondhand sewing machine, Facebook marketplace/car boot/eBay and hemmed and tapered all my other denims as well as my wife and daughter….also plenty of tutorial here on RUclips too on how to use a sewing machine.
Uniqlo I was a regular costumer purchasing multiple pairs of your selvedge 100% cotton Kaihara denim jeans until approx 2017. The cut was nice fitting, straight for a normal(not overweight) men constitution. The denim was crisp, wore nice in time, like a classic jean. Price was incredible around 35 euros. After some years when I wanted to buy again I figured that the UNIQLO jeans cuts changed and also selvedge fabric started to contain elastane. The regular cut is absolutely terrible, baggy around waist, heaps, thighs and tapered below knee. The slim cut(elastane selvedge denim) same size I cannot even zip it up, and I am fit (not at all overweight). If I try one size up it will be baggy. Uniqlo you ruined one of the few classic successful products(the selvedge denim jean) with these changes. Why?? To follow the fast fashion trends? To appeal to teenagers only? Too bad you pushed away all 20+/30+/40 aged people that grew up discovering your once upon a time quality products. They are the ones being able to make sales. Frankly I have a hard time finding among your products something that fits well/smart. That follows the body contours, is made of quality/consistent materials and not fitting like clothes are hanged on a pole looking like a sack of potatoes.
The cost is truly amazing. Great pair of jeans just bought them today and I want them in more washes!
Fantastic....!
I purchased one Selvedge Stretch recently. It's beautiful... The weave, texture and the appearence.
are your raw denim models sanforized or are they prone to shrinkage when washed?
Do you know if Uniqlo U Selvedge jeans are still made by Kaihara in 2022 ?
yes, there a tag indicating it's made by kaihara
I wish uniqlo would release its 25 oz jeans
Their selvedge jeans have improved
How do you tell?

Excellent jeans I'm very impressed with my pair and the hemming service 👍

Im just wondering is it possible to get it hemmed in Uniqlo if my pants were bought from another store or if it was bought some time ago?
