Wow -great test! Your vintage pens are lovely - serious nib envy 😊I’m thrilled to find a notebook with white paper than can handle fountain pens. Ivory and cream papers are attractive on their own merits. However they do alter ink colours (mute cool colours and push warm toned colours towards yellow). I have to say I’m quite surprised by how well the notebook handled the amount of ink your nibs put down. Thank you for sharing your ink tests!
New to your channel & thoroughly enjoying it. As for the ink, I believe the word you were searching for was 'vicosity' . Happy writing to you and all💮💮💮🐦
I love ghosting so much. Before I discovered fountain pens, I would buy super cheap notebooks just because I liked the hosting and the texture of the paper after being written on.
I've noticed the Same thing (feathering, bleed through) with my vintage Pelikan 140 fine flex if I use iroshizuku black or Aurora Black. I've noticed Midori and Life notebooks handles these wet nibs the best. What do you use, whilst using the vintage pens with wetter ink?
I hadn't noticed any feathering in mine but did have some ghosting. It is my understanding the ink doesn't absorb it dries on the paper. Some inks dry faster than others. I like that the purple ink is much more saturated.
Oh yeah, good point! It does depend on the inks as well, not just the paper. I'm now in my second Stalogy notebook. I definitely enjoyed it enough to use it again. Granted, there doesn't seem to be many b6 options out there that are fountain pen friendly. xD
Well, all fountain pen paper is ink resistant, with Tomoe River being the most so. But some ink must absorb or the humidity in the air would make it wet again. Feathering also happens when the paper absorbs ink, and the ink then follows thr fibers in the paper. Wet ink like this is why God invented blotting paper. It astounds me how many fountain pen people don't have a supply on hand.
Try Crescent paper nothing shows through. On my tests my Vintage (1953) Super Pilot 200 (EF -F) some flex was the worse, too much ink despite the tiny line. Love your “tests” and taste so much ❤️
I've only experienced three black inks. Iroshizuku, Sailor and Parker Quink. The Iroshizuku was the wettest, and if I remember correctly, both the Sailor and Parker were fairly dry. I think I found the Sailor more interesting, as it dried really mat and reminded me of charcoal.
I’m new to fountain pens and this is actually the first video I have watched on them. I’m just wondering why you dipped the nib in the ink before writing? Isn’t there ink already in the pen? Thank you.
Great choice in ink colors! You have ravishing handwriting. You mentioned a “music nib”; what is that? I have never heard that term used, but I’m not an authority on nibs...
Hello, I know I'm really late to your question. But from my understanding, a Music nib is a nib that is made for writing music notes on sheet music (I'm not an expert on writing music, sorry!). Instead of having just one slit in the nib, it has two.
Vickie, I started out as a child using disposable ink cartridges. (I learned cursive in Catholic school.) I only started using ink bottles this year. (I’m 65.) Start out with cartridges and only use bottled ink if and when you are comfortable with it.
clarkbilgrav I went to catholic school too, they used to place great importance on good handwriting/cursive. I have beautiful handwriting ( if I may say so myself) but I’m an artist so that may have something to do with that. I know public schools have stopped teaching cursive, I wonder if catholic schools have stopped as well?
Before your video on the E-class, which seems to have disappeared, you were writing on Tomoe River paper. Do you like the paper in the Stalogy as much as Tomoe River?
Hi! Sorry about that! Someone had pointed out that some private information was showing in the video so I took it down. Then, left for my trip before getting the chance to do an update. I'll have to make one soon, hehe. I prefer the Tomoe simply because it really shows off the shading inks really well. So far, I've found the Stalogy to be more that sufficient though otherwise for daily writing with fountain pens. I'm actually in my second Stalogy now! :D
@@adventuredenali what size Stalogy were you using?? A5? I've been binging on your videos this week because of this video! I just got an A6 and after seeing your video about your maverick cover I want one for mine 😂 I have a platinum preppy fountain pen for now that I haven't tried on it yet but I hope the paper takes it well. Probably TMI but I don't have friends that are super into journaling and fountain pens. I look forward to more videos!
@@nadines.1107 Oh I deleted it after someone pointed out that you could see some of my personal information in it. I left on a trip shortly after, I'll do an update soon!

Tumble dryer in the background? 😆 Great video. Some nice pens and inks 👍🏻😀
After trying Leuchtturm and Hippo Noto (Which has Tomoe River Paper) thinking about trying out the Stalogy next.

Really enjoying the video 😎👍🇦🇺

What’s your favorite ink for a sailor music nib? Thanks!

Charles Jacques thank you so much! I’ll look into it. :D
What size stalogy are you using please?
Is there a particularly dry standard black ink you suggest? Im working with the Pelikan Brilliant black but am open to try new things!

The perfect journal for Rorschach tests 😎😎😎😎🤗🤗🤗🤗😇😇😇
hahaha Maybe I'll do some xD

lori hartman hi there! I dipped it because I didn’t want to fill it up and then have to clean it out. I just wanted to demonstrate. :D
Great video
Craig Williams thank you!
Great video and thank you! Do you write on both sides?😍
Thank you! Yes I do! The ghosting is minimal, and in my daily writing, the ink never bleeds through.

I have two fountain pens that no longer write for some reason, even when i change the ink. How can i fix this?
Clean them:-). Look on youtube... goulet pens have nice tutorials
My stepdad used a lot of fountain pens. I love the look of them, but am terrified of ink spills.
Vickie Crouch you get used to it! I always take a handkerchief with me just in case. The pens themselves, don’t really leak, often. XD

Hi! Would you talk a bit about your writing while traveling on your Instagram? Oh I really missed these videos! 🤓📖
Hi! Haha sorry, I"m only now just seeing this. I'll have to do an update soon. xD
I love that you love ghosting ❤️
i realize Im kinda off topic but do anybody know a good place to watch new series online ?
@Zaid Korbyn I use Flixzone. You can find it on google =)
Hey love, i was just hoping you are ok, with the earthquakes, :( hope you and your pup are safe and ok!! Thinking of ya!
Thank you! We were safe! In Montana actually, by the time the earthquakes hit.
Have you ever had something important in writing get damaged from water so much that the ink washes off?

Yes! Was looking for it too! Wanted to watch it again.

I‘d LOVE to see an updated version of it. I am still on the fence about the E-Class. Greetings from Germany
Ilky Way I’ll definitely do that! :D I’ve liked it so far. It’s different, but I’ve been enjoying it.
2020: have you tried Iroshizuku "AMA IRO"? ....ooooh boy!
MR Pilot Sapien I love it!
